Feel you on this- and situations like this are really serious. In 2012, I had a situation sort of similar to the one you're talking about at the 30:00 mark happen. It was a kid from a group home who I had never met or seen in my life. She had run away and was hiding and apparently saw me walking by, made up a CRAZY story to tell the staff when they found her, and next thing I know I was sitting in the back of a police car. I didn't even know what I was doing there until the next morning before my arraignment - when I was allowed to read the report. It was unbelievable-- it didn't even make any sense to me until months later that the whole thing was based on the made up story of a child who had been through traumatic experiences, thought she was going to get in trouble at that group home, had been in trouble the entire day, had a history at that group home of making up stories about adults... and I had to spend time in prison, then on house arrest, waiting for 1 1/2 years for the D.A. to finally drop the charges. And later, I found out that by the time my legal nightmare was over, the child had completely forgotten about the entire thing and told different stories every time she was asked. GOOD thinking about not letting them come inside, and for letting the kid hang out in a safe environment, and for assisting him home.. The thought of what could have happened to that kid is sickening. Considering the fact you say you've already had a brush with nasty accusations, it was also very brave of you. I also try to stay away from environments where there are a lot of poorly-watched after children... sorry for the length of this comment but wow, that story really kinda struck a nerve.
