I bought this bike last September as a a one bike option for the exact reasons you spoke about. I don't have the skill to push the bike to it's limits on technical climbs and descends and I mostly ride a lot of flowy single track for intense exercise but I do go on riding trips every month or so and I love it because I'm super familiar with it from being in it 3 or 4 days a week so when I'm out of my element I trust the bike. I've taken it to 4 different bike parks and it's amazing.

Very stylish riding at the end! This video gives me a warmer fuzzy about slicing into my 401K! (2022 SB130T2) 🚲😎🤘🏻 I’ll be heading to Bentonville over the winter and I wonder how this bike can take drops, there’s a few big moves out there I want to try but I’m worried it might be a bit much for the 130. Excellent review btw!

I’ve had this bike since June and thoroughly enjoy it. It rips! Definitely a bike that gets better the more you push it. Also a great climber. Your descriptions are pretty spot on. I agree, as a one-bike for someone who likes to rip and really give it and has access to some fast trails, it’s fantastic. Wouldn’t recommend for more casual or novice riders or people who live where there’s limited elevation change.

I am constantly setting PRs on this bike on every trail. Just called for my first bearing replacement package-no problem, as it was delivered in 2 weeks.

cant disagree with anything said here. I bought an 2019 sb130 gx model. Now its got the factory 38 and a float x2 in the LR configuration. Its got lost of other upgrades as well. 9:59 is pretty much the perfect description. I even hit big Bmx style jumps at one of my smaller local bike parks and it still works pretty damn well. This bike has to be on your list for a person who is looking to have one bike. If anyone has any questions I happy to answer.

I've owned the SB130 LR for just a couple of rides, but so far I am impressed. Coming from a SC 5010C, the Yeti is much faster and has a much better pedal platform. It also feels lighter, even when both weight about the same. As expected, the 5010 is more nimble in tight switchbacks but what impressed me the most was that the SB130LR seems to be easier to jump than the 5010...At least for me. Thank you for your review, as it help me with my new purchase.

It's nice to get me in the film too! haha Although, all my buddies who ride w me are far better lol I should mention, I rode a size small Yeti SB140 a handful of times this season. Sizing down is a lot of fun... makes the bike a little sportier feeling and playful. In the end, at 5'8" the small was just a little too small on the seated climbs and rides.

Yep. I agree. Just sold mine, haha. I wanted a bike that I can ride more casually. The sb130lr was always begging me to race it. I got my share of KOMs and PRs, but after 2-hour+ rides, i was EXHAUSTED!! Hey Bench Mark, just curious; What aspect of the bike led to your exhaustion? Regards,
@Bench_mark_113
@Bench_mark_113 2 жыл бұрын
First off this bike is great, and still very much few looking at. I owned mine for 2 years and loved it. I am an Xc guy but love going downhill fast. And this bike helped me really progress, it’s not slotted like an enduro bike, but I think it’s as fast as most other companies enduro bikes, and just as capable. But to answer the question, what led to exhaustion was the bike sizing. I am 5’10” 180cm and right between sizes, but bought a large because I have owned a large in every bike I have ever owned.-a mes would probably been better but 🤷🏻‍♂️ Anyways the bike has a super long front end, especially compared to how short the back of the bike is. So when standing the rear tire gets most of your weight, and you have to actively lean over the handlebars and push on the front tire. Otherwise the front tire feels loose. Also this bike loves going fast, and prefers it (it’s like it unlocks a another level from the bike) and so if you’re just cruising it feels harsh and disconnected. So those things combined, a couple hour ride is physically and mentally more taxing than any other bike I have ridden. And I bought this bike for big days at my local mtn where a 5k vert ride and 20 miles is my typical weekend ride. So after two years of enjoying it, I decided I wanted something a little less aggressive and more pedal friendly, but still capable. So that’s why I bought an Occam.

I have a yeti sb130 LR for my everyday bike and a SB165 for my bike park bike. excellent mix for me. BTW when do you think Yeti will update these? I'm actually hoping not for a while since I just spent probably 20k building up these 2 bikes from the ground up with high quality components. I love the SB130 for how well rounded it is and how it's good for pedaling but can still handle gnarlier sections. And I love the SB165 for bike park since I actually prefer the 27.5 wheels for hucking whips over the pro line jumps and such, and that bike is a beast. a lot more plush than the SB130 but still a similar supportive feel where you need it.

Hey bro how tall are you? I felt cramped in a 130 M but considering the 130LR and nervous to get on a large. In the parking lot the L felt better with the seat forward vs the M with the seat jacked all the way back. Thoughts? Thanks!
@donaldlaury7193
@donaldlaury7193 Жыл бұрын
@@sjd229sd How tall are you? You don't adjust fit between size by moving the seat unless the seat tube angle is different on different sizes (which is unusual and not the case here) The position of the seat should be the same on the Med or the Large, because seat position needs to be where it puts you in the best position to peddle. You make adjustments for different sizes by using different length stems to achieve comfort, but relation between seat and bottom bracket should be the same between different bikes. You might just need a 50mm stem instead of the stock 35mm to make the M feel comfortable or something like that.

Hi YumYum. How did your frame bearings hold up? Mine were notched out after 5 months of spring/summer riding? Also, why not mention the switch infinity (SI) service as part of the LT review? In theory, the SI service is not that complicated, but in reality, partially removing the rear triangle, cleaning and lubing the SI, reassembling the rear triangle, torquing bolts to spec. etc. gets old quick especially if you ride a few times a week.

Really hard to pass on the new Trail 429. It's incredibly just about everywhere! Easier to ride than the sb130, has a really nice damp feel to it. Has a lower speed limit than the 130. Doesn't have as much traction in the corners as the 130 but that's only if you're really romping on the 130... otherwise, T429 feel good in the corners for what it is.

I have a Ripley v4 with 130 upfront/120 rear and it's way more capable than I. I'd personally suggest the 115 Yeti for the type riding it sounds like you do. Lighter weight, great uphill and down, no more than that needed unless you decide to ride blacks at high speed (which I don't). Hope tyhat helps ..... rubber side down .... Rule #1 is FUN!! :-)

Hi Jason! Good review, as always. You say that the Yeti requires a more aggressive riding position versus the Ripmo V2 which is more playful as a bike. I have a Ripmo V2, but have never tried the Yeti SB130 LR. I don't understand why you say that the front of the Yeti is long. The Ripmo V2 has the same reach in the large size, and longer in the medium size. Both bikes have the same head angle ( 64.9°) and the same fork length. The Ripmo has a longer wheel base in the medium size, and almost the same in the size large. Yes, the two bikes don't have the same travel, but that doesn't change the length of the front of the bike. Knowing all this, how do you explain the difference of the two bikes when the geo is practically the same? Ok, they don't have the same suspension system, but it's still two systems that look alike... What is the biggest difference could you say in between the two bikes?
@mtbyumyum
@mtbyumyum 2 жыл бұрын
Great question and good analysis. It's always so hard to say exactly what makes these bikes so different. Both awesome bikes but for some reason, the SB130 just doesn't feel as easy to ride or as "good" as the Ripmo if you're not paying attention to how you're riding. The bike feels longer in the front for sure. You have to give thought to getting out in front of the bike a bit. Once you get the balance of the SB130 and feel the traction out front, you can push this bike harder than the Ripmo, Switchblade, Stumpjumper and most other bikes. It just begs to go faster.

Thanks for the question, was thinking the same thing. At around 6' tall, I've been finding that 490 reach feel great for me. Actually, just bought an S5 SJ Evo. Proportion wise, that puts a 455mm reach into the "shorter" area if you do a compensation for height between me and YumYum. I think that some of this with the yeti has to do more so with stack numbers but also thinking there is something to do with how the rear suspension works and just feel better with less weight on it. But ya. The ripmo and SJ Evo are all similar reach numbers now. To Yum-yum, no negative to you. All the reviewers are saying "long reach, need more aggressive riding". I find it peculiar and perplexing.

To put things into prospective a little... this season I spent a number of days on the Yeti SB140 size small in an effort to see if the bike would feel more playful and easier to ride. I also spent a week, so maybe 60 miles, on a size small Pivot Switchblade. I actually really liked the size small Switchblade but in the end, too short for seated climbs and overall riding. The descents, jumping and just noodling around was a lot of fun tho. The reason I mention this is, both size small bikes were a lot of fun to cruse around on and felt more playful but the SB140 still required a noticeable conscious effort to get forward on the bike where the Pivot just felt more neutral and more easy going

Not sure exactly what trails you're referring to but I'll guess, Green Valley area.... so, the SB130 will out climb any of the bikes you've mentioned above. The trails in this area have very technical section including climbs. I haven't ridden every bike you've mentioned but most of them. I would say for these trails, I would have a real hard time passing on the Pivot Trail 429, Pivot Switchblade, Ibis Ripmo, Rocky Mountain Instinct or Yeti SB130/LR. My first choice would be the Pivot Trail 429 with a 140mm Fox 36 or Pike up front. If like Adam W mentioned here, and you wanna ride Grafton, Nephi's Twist and Flying Monkey, you'll want more bike. If you end up wanting a little more bike, I would go, Ibis Ripmo or Rocky Mountain Instinct. Depending on your riding style/level, the SB130 / LR would be amazing but it's a little more demanding of a bike. More rewarding to ride than the others but not if your a passenger handing out the back... Last of all, I would pass on the Sentinel, Hugene and Delano... there are better bike than these on your list.

I have a Transition Spur now and I love it, but tend to get in a little over my head at times with only 120mm to work with. I guess it is between the Yeti, the Rocky, and the Ripmo. I've owned quite a few bikes in the past that were absolutely uncomfortable to ride and they always ended up as garage wall decor . I'm not seeing that with this one. It's pretty light I've only ridden it a few miles but I like it . As for the pedals falling off in the other reviews , the pedal arms are aluminum along with the pedal studs look to be also . I would not overtighten them. I can see it would be very easy to overtighten them and strip the threads right off . All in all I think it's pretty good quality besides the aluminum pedal thing .
