Learned about the movement in my history class in junior year. Most of the people weren’t so lucky to learn about the Chicano movement . I have shared with a lot of people what I learned . Always get the chills and tears in my eyes. Thanks to the movement I a chicana was able to graduate high school, attend a university where I learned more about our heritage . 💚

I hope your brother didn't get beaten, and I hope Mexican Americans and people who are in from Mexico have a better life!

Most of my friends who are also chicanos didn't even know this movement even happened, I'm not sure if other schools talk about this but I'm upset that I wasn't aware of this part of our history. We Hispanics , Latinos, Chicanos are faced this racism every day around the U.S.. This should be taught in schools, it's our history and our right. This movement will probably inspire others if they knew about it.

Yes, the brown berets were directly influenced by the black berets (pronounced: "ba-ray") of the Black Panther party based out of Oakland. Very few classrooms seem to teach about the solidarity between Blacks and Latinos during this time. To subvert that solidarity, it is common to divide people of color by offering the privilege of whiteness to one group.

Yep! I remember all this and living through the American school system in California about not able to use Spanish in school and teachers would also point out my color and kids would make fun of me about my English and culture. The worst part is that you never forget these experiences. they have a lifelong effect on your life. I am now an old man now and still remember.

In many countries, rich and poor, there are ethnic minorities who resent the government and/or majority people. The Chicanos are no different from the rest. I will be concern and watching.
