Strengthen and heal your knees with this yoga for knee pain sequence. Works to aid and prevent knee pain, runners knee, and patella tendon soreness. Remember, the knees are a joint. In this yoga sequence, we work strengthen the muscles that surround our knees, which will over time help aid knee pain relief. In addition to doing these yoga exercises to strengthen and stabilize the knees, I'm going to walk you through the pitfall poses for the knees that you might be inadvertently twerking and hurting the knee without realizing it.

Hi Brett, I just wanted to post that this routine really helped my injured knee. I’m a 50-year-old guy and I keep myself fit, but after starting a high intensity interval training routine, my knee became very painful and inflamed to the point where I couldn’t walk without severe pain and limping. I couldn’t sleep or put any pressure on it. But I did apply rest, cold packs, and elevation. Before making an appointment with the doc, I decided to do a search and see if there was a yoga routine focused on painful knees; your’s was the first to pop up in the search. I’ve flirted with yoga over the years, but I wouldn’t say I’m a yoga person. However, I attempted this routine very gingerly and I was amazed at the results after doing this 4-5 times a week. I received a lot of relief just after the first week. But I continued for another three weeks, and now I can walk and jog without any pain whatsoever. I’m still continuing to test running and jumping but the progress is amazing. Your spirit really comes through in your videos. Thanks!

Brett - your videos have changed my life in so many positive ways. I've recently developed some knee pain after increasing my running distance and frequency. No joke, I could hardly walk down stairs a few days ago because I was in so much pain. I spent the weekend icing it, taking some ibuprofen, etc., and resting it. It still hurt. Then, based on my great luck with your other videos, I decided to see if you have any for knee pain and found this one. Oh my gosh . . . could hardly believe how much better I felt after the sequence. I'm not completely healed yet, but I'm going to keep coming back to this one, because I think it really helps.

I work 14-15 hour shifts and at one time my knees were hurting so bad, that I almost couldn't walk. I started doing these and with time I have no pain after working even 4 days straight. Thank you, your channel is real blessing for me. ^^

This is a fantastic resource ... a few years ago with a crackling, clicking and sometimes hurting knee I thought I could not exercise much any longer ... I was almost tempted to go and see an orthopaedic surgeon but then I came across Brett’s knee strengthening routine and my knee got revitalised after a few times of repeating it … it’s amazing how such a simple sequence, of course very well delivered by Brett, can change the physical strength of the knee supporting muscles to the point that the issues with my knee have almost entirely disappeared in practice … it has also changed the perception of my own capabilities … as a result I’ve run a couple of marathons since … I still need to keep my knee continually in check and that’s why I regularly repeat this great routine. I’ve done so many therapy vids and yoga knee vids- about 10 min into this series- my knees started to warm up and really feel good- and after 20 years plus of doing yoga, I had NEVER heard of the knee tracking in back leg( as opposed to hip placement) in Warrior 1. Thank you!

You are amazing. I did a knee / menisculus operation 6 years ago. From time to time i get some joint knee pain. I found this video and after doing your guide exercises it got instantly better. I've been dealing with patella knee pain off and on for a couple of years. I've gone to physio in the past, so I know how to handle it when it arises. But this video? This is going into high rotation when it's needed (kneed-ed). One of the best I've ever done for knee pain. Amazing! Thank you!

I've just come back into my yoga practice, 6 months postpartum, and started experiencing knee pain after the second week. It seems counterintuitive to work the knee when its inflamed, but actually, it really felt good and was super informative too. I now know that I need to be gentler on myself, example warrior 1, until I regain my range of mobility. Thanks! 🙏📿👶

This was the most perfectly tailored yoga class for knees ever! I’ve been following you for years, and just started developing knee pain due to a bad twist when walking my dogs. Surgery is out of the question, so upon searching for a yoga class focusing on knee health, this one came up. I feel like you just gave my knee a hug! Such a knowledgeable instruction on how to strengthen and protect the knee joint is better than going to therapy. This yoga sequence is not meant for people who have existing knee arthritis, ailments or injuries as it places too much pressure on your knees. My right knee has arthritis and I cannot do these poses. Do you have a sequence for those of us who have knee arthritis?

Lovely Video! Forgive me for butting in, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you heard the talk about - Dinanlinson Rocky Position Approach (probably on Google)? It is a smashing one off guide for learning how to fix chronic knee pain without the normal expense. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my m8 after a lifetime of fighting got excellent results with it.

Hello Thank you so much for this sequence of amazingly helpful exercises and so beautifully presented too. I am older! and have recently become aware of some weakness in my knees; compounded by the fact that a week ago I fell off my bike actually hurting my knee to the extent that on the first night my husband had to carry me upstairs! The writing was on the wall; I had to do something extra/more. I completed a yoga Sivananda teaching course 10 years ago and do that yoga sequence virtually everyday, so I was researching some additional yoga to help more specifically with my knee. What luck to come across your video! I've just completed my 4th session following your info and I know now that I will be incorporating this into my life every other day from now on. Having had problems with arthritis flare-ups since my teenage years (especially in my knees and more recently feet) I have consciously avoided poses such as lunges, squats and so forth. Silly me. Since doing this video I have realized that part of the deterioration to my knees that I'm experiencing in my mid-30's is simply because my legs are weak! I am slowly building strength in my legs and the cellulite on the insides of my knees is disappearing slowly. I'm not saying that this is a panacea, but this video is fantastic, Brett. Hi Brett I am currently suffering from Patella Tendonitis and this really is helping. The problem came long after using my right leg for three years while my Left ACL, Posterior and Medial Meniscus where healing just with physio and as soon as my right knee Patella gave in, my first line of working on it was a brace.

I just finished this class and I have to tell you, my knee feels almost 100% better! Thank you for the slow movements and where to focus your eyes on the big toe. I had not heard this before and really appreciate your guidance. I recently started feeling pain and stiffness in my left knee while standing on a concrete floor when working 8 hours as a cashier. I will try to perform these poses 3 times a week.

I can see why people with more severe knee issues would need a more gentle class, but I'm a pretty active yogi/dancer and have been having knee pain recently, and this sequence worked well for me. It helps to slow down and isolate some alignment issues that have been contributing to my knee pain.

The warrior hold with the twisted knee gave me the most trouble. Also, sitting down in cross leg at the end was tough. I will try this 3 times a week and report back haha. Thanks for the video

Will definitely be trying this more to try and loosen stiff knee joints. One against the wall wasn’t easy especially with layout of the room but will know to adjust for future attempts

I have also begun to integrate lower heeled shoes into my lifestyle - that was a tough adjustment, but definitely worthwhile. As far as this routine goes, I found it very empowering. Hii! I just found this yoga routine, and I work out pretty regularly and MAN this was tough. Looking forward to seeing my improvement over the weeks though! Because I noticed a difference in my knee after just one session. Thank you for this!!

Thank you so much for providing this information. I loved the details in the moves, I was performing warrior 1 incorrectly, lining the knee with the ankle changed the movement completely. Thank you!

Thanks for this Brett! I am 10 months post op from ACL reconstruction so strengthening muscles around my knee has been key - great to add this to the rotation!

Oh my. That was incredible. I injured my knee and leg recently. It finally feels good. This session was so effective for the knees. Excellent job. I really appreciate you sharing these stretches.

@@BrettLarkinYoga This is such a benefit for the knees and joints around the knee. I am just getting over a knee and leg injury and wow this was absolutely the best stretches I ever did. Thank you so much. PS: I hate to reiterate my initial comment, but I feel like these poses and stretches are so effective and the feeling I received from them was the best sensation and results I have ever felt. Thanks once again.

Thank you so much for this video. I used to practice yoga almost daily years ago and tried to keep up with the practice as much as I could until a few years ago when I was ran down by a driver in a hit and run. The injuries I suffered really altered my quality of life. I will keep this short, but I have always struggled with my weight, but I enjoyed having healthy vitals because I stayed active and tried to watch my nutrition as much as a person with food issues could. But now that I am trying to get back into daily practice, I feel better in many ways and this video played a huge part in that. Thank you!

I had some choice words for you when you did that last chair pose up against the wall, but I survived and my legs feel great! Thanks for your wonderful KZfaq videos! I needed this stretch out and time for me today!

Loved this practice so much! I hope it continues to help me strengthen my surrounding leg muscles in order to take some stress off my knees. I love yoga so much but have definitely injured myself from attempting some of the harder poses I wasn’t quite ready for. Thank you for this video!! It got me sweating

Thank you so much for this! The chair pose variations is exactly(!) what I needed my body to experience to tell me what was going wrong and why my knee was hurting during practice and workouts all of a sudden. I couldnt believe how just squeezing a block during chair pose made it feel like Id never even done chair pose before and for whatever reason my knee was SO weak there. I honestly was considering quitting all together but now I might not have to so TY TY TY TY TY!!

Watching this video made me aware of several mistakes in leg positioning for some of these standing poses. I guess it depends upon the yoga teacher. I bet if I tried these standing poses your way AND did some hip openers, my knee pain would go away. This is bookmarked.

A common thing during yoga practice I have seen is that they recommended the chair pose for knee help but then they also say squat down even further and actually squatting down even further can be bad on the knee what you do is actually only squat down to the point you feel it in your glutes and not your knees.

I am still recovering (slowly, but surely) from ACL reconstruction and before I got hurt, I LOVED yoga and did it routinely. I was excited to find this, but as so many are saying, this really is not for people who already have knee injuries (I actually still really can't even kneel on that knee let alone squat to 90 degrees!)....would you consider doing another knee video that is focused on yoga poses for knee injuries?
