​@@badnainot OP, but i suggest getting one with a gpu that suits your budget, if you're not looking into making complex 3D games, or just 2D, get the cheapest one. Also try out the keyboard if you can, it makes a huge difference when you're comfortable typing, I had to bring my mech keyboard everywhere cause it's cozier for me

Today (April 4) Lenovo's US website is now listing a 4060 model for sale, delivery expected end of May. No 4050 model offered, and the tech specs continue to say that 4050 and 4060 are the only GPU options. I assume we'll have to wait until late May before it's really clear whether or not the 4070 GPU in this laptop will be offered for sale in the USA.

My "problem" is that I usually use laptops inside and I have got the minimum screen brightness set, so I always watch for the "pwm" when purchasing a laptop. This one, according to "notebookcheck net" does have pwm flickering at 6000 Hz and below 70% brightness level, which applies to me definitely. I may not be sensitive to this, but as I am using my laptop 8+ hours a day, I'm not planning on testing it ...

@@forestfire47 Today I started to use it by installing Win 11 Pro and then the apps I use on a regular basis. I cant say I have used it long enough to say how I like it. I'm a desktop guy and have been using an iPad for years so the last laptop I bought had Win 7.......lol With that said the display is amazing, I watched a few 4k videos and they were so crisp and clear to the point I have never seen anything like it on a computer. I can only say it is like my 4K Smart TV's. The laptop feels solid and the keyboard is great to use, it has a nice backlight and the keys feel very good. It will be a few days before I really start using it but once again I am a desktop guy, I got this just to have a new laptop for when I travel. I have to set it up the way I like my computers, I also have to get rid of the Microsoft free trail of office off the laptop. Sorry this isn't much of a review on the Yogi 9i 2024 but I don't regret spending the money I did to buy it.

EDIT Correction: see @theLugi6 response I hate the HDMI spec renaming what 2.1 means, causing this confusing mess. And again, anything but the full 48Gbps bandwidth is unacceptable for this type of machine.

@@RedBeardedRabbit agreed, might have to look at the spectre 360 the only issue is battery life. Biggest thing I would miss from the Macbook Pro

​@@RedBeardedRabbitah, that makes a surprising amount of sense. Sadly in the video it specifically mentioned HDMI 2.1 TMDS. Which cuts the usable lanes from 4 to 3, since one is needed as a timing signal. If this is true, we'd have 18Gbps, which is the same as HDMI 2.0 and is barely not enough for 4k/60 10 bit. According to wikipedia, the highest video data rate for TMDS would just be 14.4Gbps, while the rest is used for all the extra features like audio, ethernet and error correction?

Someone please comment here when you do see it released!

US isn't getting the 4070 sku either, just the 4060. BUT a full powered 4060 at that. There are a TON of under powered 4070's floating around the laptop landscape right now like the Samsung Galaxy Book Ultra 4 so at least Yoga doesn't skimp out in that regard. I would have also liked this with a 4070 and 64gb of ram...

I got in the same situation too. For me, I do Blender and programming too but I also don't do much gaming and would like a decent screen with decent battery, so I go with Yoga. If you do Blender profesionally (as a job) and requires power I think Legion can also be a great choice. Either way, this is just my thoughts, I'm still kinda lost 😅

Base model is $1700 for 2024 version

In the UK, it is not for sale yet, but the 13th gen is £2900 for i9/64GB/1TB/4070, so I expect the same spec Core Ultra to be £3200 or close. That is not cheap. I think the US get deals at the expense of us in Europe as I would easily choose an MB Pro 16 M3 Max and pay £200 more for the above spec.

Im thinking the same thing. I got the 2023 version and alltough its really powerful, the battery life is kind of sad to me at around 6hours not pushing it at all. Push it you get not much

Had the zenbook 14, complete disappointment. I advise you look elsewhere and avoid the marketing lies.

@@omegasquadflame2330 The ASUS ZenBook 14 UX433FN, or one of its 14 inch model numbers. It was a literal fire hazard to handle. And the fans were very high in frequency noise and coiling at that. I highly suspect it was the cause of my tinnitus at the time as I used it as my primary device during those years. Also, keyboard literally broke after 2 months of use... really cheap plastic stuff at that, and uneasily annoying bright white LED light always on for the power button. So I just abandoned my laptop and used an iPad Pro till now, that laptop was terrible for school, not that the iPad was any better since I was in CS uni. Now though, I really do need a good laptop. It has been a while, so I am thinking if ASUS may have changed a bit for the better, I was looking towards their ROG G14 laptops since the specs were great on paper, it has many praises from so many laptop YT reviewers, but then for this channel, they rate it quite low for its high fan noise which was one of many problems the zenbook I had previously troubled me with. There were other problems I had with my zenbook, like surprised incompatibility in their ports despite industry standards, and literally plastic encased edges despite it claiming to be military grade... So, I advise that you consider looking for a real quality device that can deliver, from a quality company. I do not mean to rain on your parade, and, maybe this KZfaqr isn't doing the ASUS ROG justice, but ASUS left quite the bad taste in my mouth and really failed me when I need it most during those years of CS study. And it really is a health and safety hazard from personal experience. Sorry if I am typing too much here, but I never really complained about this stuff to anyone. But hopefully you do some more research before purchase. But hey, you do you at the end of it.

Saying numpad is rarely used is wrong. I remember framework had poll whether the user want numpad in their laptop or not and the result is almost split 50:50

I think the ROG G16 is a better product for you, lower weight, centered keyboard, and just as amazing with the same CPU. Leave the lenovo to the people that need the numpad.

@@Arkan_Fadhila this is just an assumption from me, but I think that at least half of those people who voted for numpad - don't actually use it daily, it's just that if the question you ask is "Do you want to have this?" - more people would be inclined to say yes, because they think "i use it from time to time", but they don't consider the drawbacks of having this thing.

Yeah, it looks great, but seems a bit noisy. For now sticking with my Lenovo Slim 7 Pro X 14.5, great laptop for money, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, 3050 and 3K display for under 1$ is a bargain

I find myself still type quite a lot of numbers so i prefer numpad. While there is some people want numpad but doesn't know the struggle of it i think there is still people who aware about such struggle yet still prefer having numpad

Yes I would. 4060 to 4070 isn't that different. its more about the power that the manufacturer feeds it. So if Lenovo feeds 4060 similar power, then performance will be similar

We probably should have done it in this one, as its a very good one for coders. What i'll try to do is do the Linux testing in laptops that I believe are good for coders. I don't think we need to do it in all though, as unfortunatley it's a smaller audience

​@@JustJoshTech Would love to see Linux compatibility testing on the new asus duo 2024 if you review it. Would probably have to write some script to auto enable disable secondary screen on keyboard attach event but as long as everything else works I'd be happy to do that.

I tried 2023 version of this with 13905 And it was terrible, tried to make IT works fór 4 days.. keyboard working ONLY half of the time, audio not working (ONLY internal on 1% of volume), display had terrible colors (too red contrast). tried everything... Latest kernel, 10+ drivers, 6+ color profiles, manual calibration,....nothing Worked corrctly
