Esther explains how to modify the Sun Salutations so it becomes safe to do 108 of them :-) Think of bending knees coming to and down from Mountain Pose. Cobra poses instead of Upward Facing Dog pose etc etc. As well you can decide to chant OHM 108 times or visualize, or do part of it. All explained in this video. This is a very important video. This is what cannot be enough repeatet: Do not force yourself to do more than is good for you at this moment. If we do not accept the level where we are just now at this moment and have the obsession or compulsion to do more than is appropriate for us, we will not benefit from it. This is just in line with what Saswitha and Jos Plenckers learned us.

Thank you so much for these modifications Esther, I am a beginner at yoga, and almost 70, so I find the whole sun salutation quite difficult and causes pain to my shoulders, arms and wrists. These modifications you have shown us are just what I need. Many thanks.

Love your modifications! Using cat-cow as a gentle style in the middle is a great way to keep the flow going for older or beginner students.

These modifications should be taught to all beginners and especially to those with various injuries. I do some of these intuitively but you have given us a wonderful encyclopedia of options. I have many physical dysfunctions that make it difficult for me to "flow". I am hoping that by using all your suggestions sun salutations will become more satisfying for me. Thank you very very much for this. 💖

I am so grateful for your channel and feel blessed to have discovered it some years back. I share it with anyone who knows nothing about yoga, but is curious or interested in trying it, and with those that are familiar with yoga, but not sure they are doing it right. Not only are you very knowledgeable, but as important, you care. I go to a studio to practice, but most of my learning comes from you. At home I can learn the proper form so that I do not injure myself when I join a group. God bless you and the lovely group of people that are part of this wonderful channel.

Thank you for your video, Sun Salutation is a practice I very much enjoy. You mention throughout the video about doing something 108 times being very wearing on your physical wellbeing, I agree... So, maybe you and any other embodied human being should ask yourselves why would you be putting your body through such a quite harmful practice 108 times? I think a fews rounds are a wonderful thing to do mindfully and then it becomes quite pointless and frankly a silly circus act.

I have carpal tunnel in both wrists so I find it very hard to do downward dog. Is there a modiification I can do? I have seen one where you can use your forearms would that work in doing Sun Salutation?
