The live studio version of this is amazing and you can see one of the drum sticks explodes in his hand during the "choir breakdown" section, does Baard miss the beat? Hell no, it is like he knows at that exact beat it will break so they give him a stick "in time"

I have been in love with baards drumming since The congregation. What a legend. Songs like Illuminate or The Sky is Red do indeed make me want to quit the drums, but like how can you not admire this artist?

I've watchced that Illuminate playthrough more times than I want to admit. The man plays 4 different meters at certain points, it's in-fucking-sane!

@@BroudbrunMusicMerge I agree. Countless of incredible technical drummers in the genre, but Baard I could pick out with my eyes closed. Such a distinctive style and so many ghost notes I swear his snare is haunted.

I saw them when they came to Seattle on March 27th 2022 and they absolutely KILLED it. This song was one of the enders, and they brought the house down with it. Phenomenal show from a phenomenal band.

A cool example of groovy 11 is E by Tricot comes around 2 min into the song. The pattern follows similar clave (4,4,3) but with a steady kick

I saw these guys live a few months back, so worth it, I even got to tell their drummer Baard Kolstad afterwards what an amazing job he does on the drums, as he randomly came into the bar where me and a friend of mine was at, a night well spent, I must say.

Leprous is awesome and their discography is pretty diverse, earlier stuff is a lot more metal and later stuff is more quiet and melodic but it's all great
