In fairness to myself, writing the novel was a commitment and required self-confidence. But it was such a joy to write it, and it felt like... I was just writing it. As if I deluded myself into thinking it was just a hobby with no stakes. And it worked to get the book finished. But this next step feels like a decision and commitment on a new level.
