The struggles of being SN and in the height category “petite” because you may be short, but there is nothing else “petite” about you. Anything tight feels like you’re 3 times bigger (not taller) than you are😭

In my experience I have to avoid anything that is baggy in the waist because it makes me look visually way fatter than I really am (I am a hourglassish pear so if you cover my mid section, I just look bloated all over like a lego figure). I find the Kibbe suggestion of shirts that flow (not too tight) but at the same time follow my torso's shape a good idea.

Soft Natural and Romantic is quite diff Romantic is soft at the extrem while SN are more muscular

Soft Natural here: I had the worst time finding my type, but after losing weight I was able to see my frame more clearly, and immediately knew I was a SN. I think Kibbe is sometimes difficult for people with non-white features to apply to ourselves. I'm mixed race (part Native, part European) so my cheekbones, eyes, and nose don't match up with the SN type, but my features are only "sharp" compared to a caucasian face. It threw me off, but my body and the rest of my lines are undeniably SN. I used to DREAD being typed as any type Natural, because I personally don't enjoy the styles they're tpyically showcased in. I was also afraid to look unpolished. But after giving it a shot, I now know that I look 100x more refined with a more relaxed look. Relaxed and gentle looks let "me" shine through, I wear the clothes, they don't wear me. I used to always feel so overdone, like everything was too much on me. I watched a video of yours where you described SN as "feminine undone" and that was the key for me. That phrase is my mantra whenever I shop or style anything. Your Pinterest board for body type style inspiration is also hugely helpful. I recommend everyone check them out :) Thank you, Aly!! 🙌🏽

wow this is so accurate, i couldnt figure out my body type bc my broad shoulders contrast the rest of my body but after taking the test multiple times and staring at myself for hours i got soft natural. starting looking up videos for more in depth details and this 100% describes me, ty so much! ❤

The way you know you are SN is the way tight clothing fits. It doesn’t fit well, it makes you look 3 times bigger, this is a struggle other curve-types don’t have.

Exactly same journey! I have thin lips too! But like, really there's no other type that can describe me this well...i have the width, and I even have a non-boneless slight curve...Also, Kibbe has said that he no longer uses faces in typing. Plus, I went into essence system, and I think my small mouth and large eyes and round face (but broad as well, like an N's, with that large nose) is Ingenue.

You can have a different face essence than your body type. I’m a flamboyant gamine but I have 0 gamine essence to my face, besides my head being larger than my body. I have very soft rounded face features & am prominently romantic. Sydney Sweeney (from euphoria) is a soft natural with no natural essence for example.

Any other soft naturals who were/ are athletes? I was a swimmer and definitely have the SN shoulders. Finding blazers and jackets is quite the adventure lol.

Not an athlete, but I think oversized slightly cropped jackets look best. Oversized so sleeve seem isn't directly on the shoulder. And slightly cropped so that part of you body looks smaller compared to the rest. As for blazers, I think ordinary blazers just don't look good on soft naturals, because it's too formal looking. I do have one which is oversized, which helps make it look more casual.

Thought I was a soft natural initially, but then my sister said I definitely don't have the bluntness/width, and realised I'm a classic, so glad because the recommendations now seem amazing and I realise that I really don't need much detail/additions or I look off kilter. Love this channel x

I am SN. I have noticed that probably of all Kibbe categories, the Natural is the one with the most visual variety of body types inside. If for example I say 'gamine', I have a certain image in mind that can range from soft to flamboyant but more or less it is still readily recognizable, and the same goes for Classics. But if you take a Natural from the extreme Soft side, and a Natural from the extreme Flamboyant side, they look almost as different as a Romantic compared to a Dramatic. The only commonality is a certain squarishness and that too can present itself in a myriad different ways (and it's not always in the shoulders...for some reason people are fixated on those). The variety is probably due to the fact that in the Natural family there is a huge swing inbetween the yin-nest and the yang-est extremes because square bone (soft yang) is the only determinant while gamines and classics are limited by (relative) androgyny (yin/yang blend) - the gamine will always have an androgynous component that is chaotic while in the classic, the androgynous componed is blended and controlled.

Can you please do a video describing the kitchener essences and how it affects each kibbe body type? It would be a long and complicated series, but I think it would help lots of people. For example: Ingenue essence + Dramatic type Ingenue essence + Romantic type Ingenue essence + Gamine type and other kitchener essences + kibbe types

I thought I was either theatrical romantic or soft natural because my shoulder might be wider but looking at this I am realizing that nothing from the SN fits to me. I generally dont have any strong bone structure just a bit in face an d shoulders but my body is more rounded and curvy. I look boxy in the outfit ideas suggested for SN. SOOO VERY USEFUL So

Romantics can have a tendency to look a bit "wide". I think many times our idea of romantic types assumes the extremes ~ Marilyn is unfortunately NOT the best representation of a "pure" romantic (she has some Ingenue qualities). Otherwise we assume romantics look like they have natural BBLs and breast implants. SN doesn't have the essential double curve! The romantic type is going to curve throughout the bone structure, not just around the chest, waist, and hips.

Honestly, I figured out my body type most by looking at clothes I felt comfortable in, and got compliments on. I used to be overweight and hide myself in oversized clothes, and I’m about 115-120 now and see the difference 100%. I realized even before losing weight how much better I looked in certain shapes, which helped give me motivation to lose the weight. I’m about 80% soft natural, 10% soft classic, and 5% gamine and soft romantic. Most people don’t fit exclusively into one body type.

Actually I believe 170cm or 5'6-5'7 isn't an unheard of height for a SN. Some people are tall but just don't have the vertical to go with it.

I'm 5'1 and the youngest of 4 sisters. My sisters are about an inch or two shorter than me, but I tower over them lmao. I'm often mistaken as the eldest because of my broadness even though looks-wise, despite being 23, I could still pass as a 14 year old.

I just struggle because I have a lot of waist definition and my shoulders aren't as broad as some of these ladies. I'm not a SD because no bust and I don't look good in tailored clothes which also doesn't fit classic (I look best in loose lines with a lot of waist emphasis). I'm too tall and broad to be romantic (not petite) so that leaves soft natural with a smaller waist and medium sized shoulders, slightly broad body, lots of flesh.

Yes! I can relate. For some reason I didn’t want to accept that I am a SN for a long time. I think it’s because the clothing recommendations for SN I saw in most blogs/videos seemed so boring and uninspired to me, these whole boho/linen shirts/super casual t-shirts and jeans. It took me a while to realise than SN clothes dont have to be that, they can be quite elegant as well - as long as you accommodate your lines.

@@virmagnus3574maybe because Kibbe uses words like “boyish and masculine” to describe Naturals and “soft, feminine, delicate, childlike” to describe gamines and romantics. It can make any woman who is not a gamine or romantic feel undesirable.

I think I finally figured out my type, which I believe to be SN, but the comments are making me doubt: I am 5ft7 and I was hesitating between a natural, dramatic or classic type. Certainly not romantic or gamine. But I see that others are confused with these two, does it mean that I got my type wrong...?

I'm 5'6 and soft natural, I don't think that one inch more of height would change my body type... But Kibbe says that if you're 5'7 you are automatically FN which I don't necessarilly agree... See Jennifer Lawrence for e.g.... she got thrown into FN because of her height but she is not sharp at all...

Personally I can’t see Kim Basinger as a SN. I always thought she was a FN because she’s 5’8”. Also, Kelly McGillis is 5’10”! Very tall. Not trying to dump on the video, Aly. I love you and your content 💕.

I think Kim Basinger was verified as an SN by Kibbe - it was before the height limits were changed a few years ago. With Kim, and same with Pamela Anderson, it was a lot to do with the SN vibe that they both emanate (very fresh and sensual). Also, both Kim and Pam are 5'7", if we believe Google (lots of celebs add an inch to their real height).

I have loved your videos for years, Aly. I just need Kibbe to type me b/c I'm so confused. I've taken (or been given) the test 5 times. 3 times I typed as an SN and twice as a SD both with an elegant, chic essence, I but I'm 5'10.5" so you'd think that means I'm not an SN. I've been favoring SD b/c I'm tall, but fleshy with wide, blunt shoulders. My sister is a FN and she and I cannot wear the same styles, she looks overdone in my clothes and I look unfinished in hers. Oh, well, cold weather's coming and I wear them are cashmere turtlenecks and jeans anyway.

Is petite soft natural a thing? My shoulders are blunt petite but the rest of me fits the SN description with fleshy arms and legs and a slightly athletic look without much exercise. Keep going back and forth from SG and SN. I'm 5'4. Does Aly still type people?

I think it's definitely possible. If recommendations for the type fit you overall, 1 or 2 outliers are definitely within realm of reason. plus, I personally think that we need to take the height numbers veeery loosely because average heights around the planet and across the generations and ethnicities vary a LOT. so I just prefer going with "petite - moderate - tall" heights and to adjust to the average of your "people type"

Soft naturals tend to be moderate- or slightly short -typical max is 5’7”. FNs are the taller type. Is your head smaller or larger compared to yr body (Naturals have small heads, Romantic and Gamine have larger heads. So that may help you decide 5’4” is moderate. The avg woman (in US ) is 5’3” or 5’4”

Yes, petite SN is very common. SN is width + curve which means your curves are not priority in accommodation. Your bluntness defines your lines just the opposite to romantics which need curve accommodation first and foremost.

super attractive type imo, you have all the nice delicate features of a romantic, but more structure to your look, and more filled out/less narrow and bony look vs SD. (I'm SD). it does seem hard to dress for though

SN is not just angular, it's bluntly angular. Scarlett has very typical Soft Natural shoulder line and ribcage, blunt nose and cheekbones, not very defined waist, fleshy arms and legs and even the mentioned "leggy look" plenty of people were able to identify themselves and use the Kibbe system to help themselves. if you can't see types yet, it doesn't mean that it doesn't work. maybe you just need more time ☺️

Scarlett's nose isn't blunt but prominent and her shoulders just the opposite of angular , but narrow and rounded.

@@katula14 Scarlett is not narrow. her "roundness" is reflected in her being a Soft subtype. Her shoulders clearly stand out from her frame but they are bluntly angular and not sharp which make them Natural shoulders. "prominent" nose doesn't mean anything by itself in kibbe system. her nose is a typical blunt natural nose, if you don't see it idk how to explain it to you, sorry 😅

@@MakeyJu Look if you intend to really continue to persuade me that her shoulders are not narrow but angular, ( her height being under 160cm and every picture clearly shows the frontal width... even so many pics where many people are in the same frame ) by all means GO; go to bigger crowd with that, so their ridicule might hurt you enough to reconsider what you are talking and really allign your thinking with what eyes inform you. Sure I will keep my understanding that prominent nose is antonym of blunt, ok.
