If your strategy is holding queens until you get four queens, Shoot the Moon is also very good, it makes even emergency plays with 0 discards a bit more valuable.

This is an incorrect assumption. If you have a +Mult joker then you want the X2 Mult from photograph at the end. (3x2) + 16 x 40 = 646 40 x (3x2) + 16 = 256 Sure, not all hands NL played required this mechanic, but I'd rather he drill it into his brain for hands where it might matter.

I think that was the right choice. +13 mult isnt enough when you have one eye looking towards endless, not to mention small hand size. He's also playing the queens, not leaving them in his hand so at most he might get like +26 mult. Ive just realised ive become a type A chatter NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Depends, the goal of the run is to have as many queens as possible so if you got say 7 queens in hand and play 5 you get 26 multiple from that and then another 20 from raised fist. An endless strat would be to try to convert/thin your deck so that you get as many queens as possible, having say ~24 or more you'd be getting plus 46 mult per hand if you draw well

It also didn't matter if the non-face cards were scoring anyways because that's now how mult works on scoring cards. Almost none of the ordering he was obsessing over mattered at all.

Not like NL will read this but... base mult increases like Raised Fist get much weaker when you have built up the level of your big hand. You are getting like +40 base mult off of the 4 of a kind hand and getting a +4 or +10 off of raised fist (assuming a low card in hand) doesn't really mean too much. The impact of a steel card is much larger (+40 *1.5 = +20 addl mult). It's basically the same as having a 10 in hand BUT it could be better if you have other steel cards in hand (+40 with 2 steel cards is +20 (1) and +30 (2)... or +50 total) Also... your 5 of a kind was worse than your 4 of a kind for base values.

9:19 counter point to waiting for the next shop here; if you’re searching for long term jokers, it’s better to roll to get them sooner so you have more weak antes to build them up. If every winning run has the potential to go endless there’s always going to be a point where every hand matters and you can’t waste discards or hands on increasing the mult or chips given by the jokers.

Someone tell him you don't need to move xMult cards to the back when you have no +Mult cards in hand. Cuz Jokers start triggering AFTER the cards no matter what. The exact order of triggers always is: 1) Cards in played hand 2) Cards you holding 3) Jokers All of the above triggers left to right.

The photograph joker is kinda bad since it triggers when the cards are scored. so any mult added by your jokers doesn't get multiplied by photograph. i wonder how long it will take NL to figure this out

Is it just me, or are chips and mult basically the equivalent since multiplication is commutative? Meaning the optimum is to balance the two, not maximize mult?

In theory, yes, in actuality there's absolutely no way to get your chips anywhere near mult level of numbers, only a few cards boost total chips and NONE of them multiply, only add, so you're looking at like a few thousand chips maximum no matter how hard you try (except for glitches) where as mult has the potential to be in the ten thousands, hundred, million, billion, trillion etc

@113I think thats just an illusion of the order it does the math, but it could just as easily apply the MultX to Chips instead and the perception would change (Chips get much higher than mult) but the math does not. MultX cards are basically just scoreX cards. Basically, balance Mult and chips prior to multX, then apply as many multX as possible.
