I kinda like the idea of Emily either becoming fallen or doing things to stop exterminations behind the scenes. Either way, she'll be a good help for the hotel

Adam and Lute are assholes but Goddamn they're an angelic duo,pun intended.

Someone has already pointed this out but durring the song Adam and Lute try to take over the lyrics by doing a reprise of "Hell is Forever". However, unlike the time when they did it in Hell, they are unable to actually pull it off while they are in Heaven. Further solidifying how these two do not actually belong there.

I love that you can see some of the angels elites are just as shock and horrified as Emily when they found out extermination

I know that's impossible and won't happen. But imagine Vox or another character somehow managing to show the next extermination on every TV in heaven. What a culture shock that would cause.

The biggest thing about the redemption thing is - Charlie “has done nothing sin worthy”, she was born in hell, if she dies, does she go to heaven? Does she return to hell? As she is “half” human,

It’s very telling how Vaggie can spare ONE sinner and be instantly demoted, yet no matter how much a sinner does the right thing according to Heaven, they supposedly can’t be promoted to a heavenly status.

I just want to point out that when Charlie was nervous and a bit of her demonic form came out, the whole hotel shook, like an earthquake... And that was just nervousness...

I still think we need that "Loser, Baby" video essay, but holy crap, this scene was perfect.

I was surprised seeing that most angels in the court room were horrified to learn about the extermination. It confirms that heaven isnt as corrupt as we originally thought only the leadership is corrupt. But I can predict that heaven could be divided after hearing the news, those who are disgusted at this news and want the extermination to stop And those who justify and downplay the exorcist actions. (These are human souls after all, we all think differently)

Really hope Emily doesn't become fallen cuz I'd argue she has way more potential as character if she stays there

I love the hell is forever motif going on here. The duet from Emily and Charlie is not just audibly amazing, but being able to reclaim that insult Adam used on them and flip it against them in a moment of power is a great literary device. It is not uncommon in history for people fighting against a policy or for a cause to take negative words and actions and flip them for empowerment. This is just one of the many things advancing the ideas of double standards and hypocrisy in this show and I love it. The way this show makes you question what is good and what is evil by detaching tangible things from a concept is such a powerful thing to do. As humans, we are so quick to assign things moral connotations without considering that there are exceptions to the rule and realising we are making hasty generalisations.

This episode was just bomb shell after bomb shell, one thing's for sure heaven is gonna be shaken up for a while, my biggest question is what will Alastor do when i catches wind of all this info

Frankly, this was my favorite episode. All the questions I had so far were answered in my mind. I also liked the criticism made.

I noticed that, once they revealed the extermination, most of the Angels we see in-frame seemed to share Emilys horror / disgust at the idea of killing the sinners. Maybe if things get REALLY bad, we'll get a heaven civil war.

Even from the pilot I always thought that Charlie's redemption plan was unrealistic and utopian, and that eventually Hell would have to go to war with Heaven and abolish the entire system.

I absolutely can’t wait to see how episode 7 and 8 go after all that. But I’m also interested in seeing if Charlie and Vaggie’s relationship will change, or at the very least be strained now that Charlie knows her partner was an ex exterminator Of course I love these two girls so much and I love them together but there’ll probably be some tension between them “Hey you know your girlfriend that you love? Yeah she’s killed thousands of people”

I get the vibes that this would of been a great cliff-hanger for a season end, so the fact it isnt means the season end is going to have to top this kinda reveal, my money is on a Lilith reveal

I got a bad feeling something tragic will happened that would cause Charlie and Emily’s relationship from fast friends to bitter Enemies.

This show may have been off to a rough start, episode one obviously being the weakest, but goddamn is it fantastic now. From the moment episode two began, I could tell that things were improving, and now I’m completely in love with these characters and this world.

0:04 Sera looked so horrified of Emily's action, I think she truly believed someone would just zap Emily and banish her to hell for starting singing how Heaven is a lie

I’m excited because i’m pretty sure the next episode is gonna be Charlie gathering help to defend the hotel since Adam and Lute are going there first, this is kind of proven to me since Rosie is supposed to be in the next episode and she seems to be helping Charlie, she is a cannibal and there are reasons to help her not to mention she’s friends with Alastor, i’m not diving into most of it but i do have a feeling that’s where this is going.

I like the idea currently floating around the internet that redemption is possible but you need to be killed by an Exorcist or angel first after having put time and genuine effort into improving yourself to be a better person. According to said idea, being killed by an Excorcist after you became a better person results in the removal of the evil in your heart allowing you to be reborn in Haven as a clensed soul.

I hope we start gettihg switching scenes where we follow emily in heaven trying what she said she would do and to help charlie

I think this is setting up a war arc, and im thinking Emily and Sera are going to fight. The look in Sera's gives zealous dogmatism vibes, so i dont think her mind is going to be changed

I hope they go with the idea ive been holding onto; that in the end, you go to the afterlife that brings you the most peace. That some people are happiest in hell (adam, probably) and some are happiest in heaven (husk eventually) and everyone ends up in the place thats best for them rather than making it a punishment or reward. Also they make a third place.

When you see two characters who have the same personality on different side you know that there is gonna be work done behind the scenes

I would have loved to see Charlie’s demon form pop out just a little bit during that montage. The contrast between an Angel and the princess of hell agreeing on something would be really nice. Like… aesthetically pleasing.

I think Emily is going to take the piece of paper as evidence to God himself or at least take it up the chain. The final shot of the episode was her hand lingering on it and I don't think she's going to simply stay quiet

The way all Sera's eyes showed up when she got angry reminds me of how demons shape in their full demon form. Most likely angels have this feature too.

I think this thing for the staff of the hotel Will end with they deciding that they want to be better because it makes them happy and not Just to enter heaven.

The idea about the hotel somehow worked within the framework of the pilot, but now when even father and the angels directly say that it doesn’t work and whether she knows why they are in hell - this is the most disastrous idea, this is literally the path to hell, she will bring all hell to heaven and a bloody mess will begin, because there is no guarantee that they will not start all this crap in heaven Charlie will be responsible for all this and she will have to live with this grave sin

The episode was really good but it rubs me the wrong way that Emily seems like just an angel clone of Charlie. My god I hope amazon gives them at least 12 episodes for the second season the show suffers so much from not letting us to get to know the characters

That whole heaven must be a lie section + Charlie and Emily paralleling calling Sera out + that section with Adam & Lute - the song was HITTING 🔥🔥🔥 I dropped my jaw when it wa revealed that Adam didn't know - what Sera said was interesting, that he was the first human to show up at the pearly gates and they just...went with it no questions asked. Did they ask about Eve? There's a theory that what makes someone end up in either plane is how they feel they deserve to be where they are - it might have merit 🤔

The fact that those up in heaven don't what is required for a soul to enter heaven is a huge red flag since this potentially means that there could have been malevolent soul that were able to enter heaven due to meeting the requirements and are just buying their time until they see an opportunity to make their moves and take control of heaven.

I love the song really much. I like everything about it. The callback from Adam and Lute to "hell ist forever" then the counteraargument from charlie and emmily with "hell ist forever, then heaven must be a lie." Damn powerful. The twist with vaggie: I would have just kept it secret till the moment. Imagine wondering why she doesnt want to go and not knowing why she tries to (maybe) manipulate charlie and then as charlie learns the truth so do we. And then the callbacks when she was militaristic and didnt want to got make sense without giving to much info.

personally i find the pacing i little bit of its so fast it'S feels like there where plot for multiple seasons. I wish they would give the character more time to show how they improve. I really want to like Emily, but she kind of feels like charlie in an angel skin

To note something, alll of the angels present were natural born angels and some of the rank and file. they will keep their mouths shut for... a time. but even they may find themselves spiarling. But emily won't.

Based on Sera's reaction when Emily asks why Angel isn't in Heaven after he showed himself getting better, she does know what allows a soul into Heaven. And it's not their virtue. My theory is that it's obedience. Adam is clearly an asshole, but he never strayed from the path set for him by God, so he was allowed past the gates of Heaven. Lucifer is a decent guy, at least to Charlie, but he was a rebel cast out for not obeying his father. Sera even hints at this when she tells Emily not to doubt their system or risk falling, as Lucifer did. You can also see absolute fear in her face when Emily denounces Heaven during her duet with Charlie. Bringing it back to Angel, we know that he does not have a good relationship with his father and likely rebelled against his mob family parents many times throughout his life, including the fact that Angel's father apparently disapproves of his sexuality.

I find it interesting that Emily kind of embodies heaven the most she is known to: Bring joy to others Be happy Help others Be empathetic (as seen in the song) And challenges what is wrong (like the extermination)

I feel like Sera is trying her best. Wanting to help Charlie rehabilitate souls but she and the other higher ranked angels are being watched by a greater force that they deeply fear and need to be wary of upsetting. Her eyes reflecting the flames of Hell as she sidesteps the questions Emily brings up about the extermination make her look sinister but i feel like that it was meant to emphasize how everything Emily knew about Heaven is unravelling and she doen't know who in Heaven to trust now and not made to paint Sera as malicious in anyway like how Adam and Lute are depicted. the song is just amazing and makes me hope that there is a happy ending for the Hotel at the end of this scandal

One thing I love about viv's interpretation of heaven & hell is that it seems to be less about "good & evil", but moreso "order & chaos" Good person, bad person? You'll see both on both sides. But the one thing we've seen consistently? Hell is a wild uncontrolled mess, while heaven is a tidy, orderly "utopia."

I’m actually surprised to hear that Angle Star is the most prominent one Charlie consider to be soon redeemed

One thing that becomes obvious after this episode is something that is used in some other stories: the attempt of heaven to contain a possible rebellion rising from hell against them will probably be cause of the hell deciding to attack them (and, maybe, the cause of their eventual collapse)

Emily will reveal the exterminations to the rest of Heaven causing a backlash that makes Sera call off the extermination but maybe only delaying it. Adam goes apeshit and decides to go rogue with his army. After the battle or during it, Sera and/or Emily stops them. Clips their wings and tells Adam and whatever is left of his flunkies they're kicked out heaven.

it slaps so fucking hard. this scene the line delivery i love it so much. i know its cringe but it fills me with a feeling i can't describe. I love when Emi and Charlie are standing side by side with the same look of righteous determination, and the way the camera panes, it also makes me think that Emi despite being an extremely good person may now get in trouble for believing something objectively right and morally sound. She has lived a sheltered life and is about to become aware of the hypocrisy in the system.

Fun little idea, many people may see sera as manipulative or insane going off of the fiery eyes scene but I see it more like princess bubblegum. Likely a being in higher power who loves her people to a very controlling and almost stalkerish degree. She's willing to do anything even genocide if it means her people remain blissfully unaware and live their peaceful little lives. This is exactly what bubblegum has done on multiple occasions. While this doesnt make her a good person it does explain why adam despite being under sera's management very obviously seems to have more power over her than she does over him. Adam is giving a permenant, sweeping solution to Sera's problem, no need to deal with sinners trying to revolt and possibly harm your people if they can never get to that point in the first place out of fear of the angels.

finally someone is speaking of the good parts of this song since most review videos I have seen said the pacing of this episode was horrible to the point this song wasnt needed and yet this song is like my second favorite song in the show so far

Wait wait wait, Emily is younger than Sara? Shouldn’t all angels (at least the Seraphim) have been created simultaneously? Weird thought but what if Emily was Lucifer’s replacement - in that he performed the same role that she does now, keeping the citizens of Heaven happy. At least in Hazbin’s universe, Lucifer was likely of Seraphim rank - considering his six wings and all. Would also explain his theatrical & protective sides.

I do find it interesting that YHVH wasn't there, it shows something interesting about him, even if he doesn't matter to the series, it shows that he really doesn't care a ton about what's happening in heaven, hell, even Metatron wasn't there

The idea that Charlie will go on to try and tip the status quo is interesting. Because even if we don’t know what Alastor is truly up to, I think his goals could be similar.

“The rules are shades of gray when you don’t do as you say!” I just LOVE that line Not only does it call back to Adam’s line about how the rules are black and white, it calls out Heaven for its hypocrisy - like Adam is an absolute narcissist who acts just as bad, if not *worse* than some demons, is the first man to get into Heaven and not a single angel has a problem with his behavior (“If angels do whatever yet remain in the sky”) - and it can also be applied to *so* many situations where a situation like this, where a system doesn’t abide by its own rules (“Was too naive to expect you to uphold the morals you’re pervading?”) Plus there’s simply say it during the song itself, really powerful and it feels like such a victory against them! “If Hell is forever then Heaven must be a lie! If angels do whatever yet remain in the sky! The rules are shades of gray when you don’t do as you say And you make the wretched suffer just to kill them again!” 👏Beautiful And it was shown that was very impactful on the angels and gave them a lot to think about

I feel like theyre setting up multiple stories for future seasons. Because other than them fighting back against the extermination i dont know what they could do in the next 2 episodes

I love this episode as it did clear up a huge writing issue that I had with the show. I did wonder what was the point of Charlie making a hotel for rehabilitating sinners if Adam claimed that they would never ever accept sinners. Then we find out it's not exactly clear what it takes to get a soul in heaven and Adam has less power than we all thought. And for me, it even explains why Charlie is struggling so hard to redeem sinners as even the angels don't know how to redeem sinners. So she has no guide to help her and she's doing it with the best resources she can.

The coldest and most pragmatic way Heaven could deal with this would be to blame it all on Adam and say he was a rogue angel and he should be sent to Hell. This would be a lie, at least the rogue part, but that doesn’t seem to be much of a barrier to the higher ups. Basically throw Adam under the bus while denying anyone outside him and the executioners were involved.

I'm honestly surprised how much I'm enjoying the series so far. Some of the musical numbers were a bit uncomfortable to sit through, but yeah that one part from "You Didn't know" really went hard. It did not need to go that hard, but I'm glad it did. Possibly my favorite lines from the series so far.

I’d say, the thing the higher ups of Heaven fear, is that Charlie will start a war with Heaven. Whether Hell wins or loses, Heaven would be in jeopardy of being corrupted like Hell is, leaving no place left for souls to find peace. If this were to happen, Charlie, Emily, and those who were really invested in redemption for sinners, would be devastated. Especially Charlie, she’d say: “I never wanted war and death, I just wanted everyone to get a second chance and find peace”! Leaving the perfect moment for Lilth to knock some pawns and kings off the board, and claim dominion over both, now corrupted places. Leaving Angels fallen or dying, and demons and sinners either joining Lilth, in fear of dying, or succumbing to their despair that they’ll never get a second chance. Then again, a common enemy could encourage demons and sinners to help and defend the surviving Angels. For all we know, the other angels that aren’t part of Adam’s legion, can’t defend themselves. Demons and sinners would have the experience to aid in a revolt aginst Lilith. And he don’t know the fate of Eve, after becoming the Root of all Evil, maybe she’s been locked up since the Garden, to be a weapon/prisoner for Lilith to use as her ace in the hole: a weapon capable of crushing any and all resistance.

there aren’t enough episodes for it to play out in the detail you’re hoping, any emotional conflict will be resolved in five minutes and then we will get on with a war.

Yeah. This scene really shook everything up. However, this does allow to tackle the concept of redemption better than most cartoons have been know for (i.e. Steven Universe).

Fascinating thought. Adam spreading the forbidden knowlegde (extermination) is now introducing shades of grey into an otherwise ignorant mass of angels and souls. Which to me sounds like sin being introduced in the garden of eden.

We also has the option of gearing up for war protecting her people and trying to make a small bit of heaven out of hell because honestly most of the misery is caused by the people. Kind of like her father said the hell born are off limits saying my hotel is off limits.

I find it funny how both heaven and hell are effectively in the same situation (with some obvious differences of course). Mainly how neither of them exactly want war ( Head Ceraphim and that one arms dealer lady) and there are those that actively want war (Adam and I believe the V's at least). Then there's Charlie and Emily who I imagine will come to work together to figure out if there is a shot at redemption or if Emily will end up falling (something I think would be interesting). Idk I kinda lost my train of thought, just figured I would throw out my ideas on whats going on

Honestly in episode 3, if it wasn't revealed or hinted that Carmilla was actually the one that killed the Angel, and ep 6 came before that, i would whole heartedly believe that the Angle died by another Angel's hand, like Adam was so desperate to kill the sinners he would kill another angel just to make false evidence against hell.

First SantaWorld then The Ghost and Molly McGee and now this Hazben Hotel.
