Great advice as usual Bradley. I'm currently working towards my cert and have been wondering this a lot. You're the second person I've seen suggest building a personal project, and the extra step of making it a group project is excellent! Question about the Slack, is it only for certified professionals or can anyone join it? Thanks for the great content

Question. I'm in my 50s. A beginner with 2 cers. Will I be hit by age discrimination? Should I try to present younger- color hair, use a bit of face cream, lose a few pounds, avoid answers that reveal my age etc?
@SalesforceForEveryone
@SalesforceForEveryone Жыл бұрын
That's a personal choice, but I've faced age discrimination from being "too young" and I've definitely grown my beard out and avoided putting graduation dates on resumes etc... Personal advice not professional yeah I would but this is all virtual for the most part so really lighting and a slight filter applied will likely be all you need. Discrimination is real unfortunately, not overwhelming but can create an obstacle.

Salesforce should change the game and allow a freelance marketplace. Learned Salesforce 2 years ago and ran an org for a nonprofit and I’m sure I’m still useful. Semantics has me unemployed. I did this job under a information tech job description idk though.
@SalesforceForEveryone
@SalesforceForEveryone 2 жыл бұрын
Yes Salesforce doesn't necessarily facilitate a freelance marketplace but there is certainly a healthy freelance marketplace in the Salesforce ecosystem. I actually did freelancing for 6 years and have a lot of friends and co-workers who freelance on the side of their day job and as a main gig. For more information about freelancing be sure to checkout the free Salesforce Freelance Guide! bit.ly/3vrA43V

What if you build your business up with this CRM, then they decide they don't like your politics? Can they simply put you out of business via deplatforming? Yes. Salesforce does this! Feeling warm and fuzzy about trusting these guys?
@SalesforceForEveryone
@SalesforceForEveryone 2 жыл бұрын
I've never heard of that, Title VII does not allow any business to discriminate against customers based on protected classes. However I would say that any business you use can update their policies and functionalities in a way that may not be beneficial to you as a customer so being too reliant on one company for your business can have its downsides. However I don't necessarily recommend Salesforce has a product to businesses, I recommend Salesforce as a career path for individuals. Being that I've always been a Salesforce professional and not necessarily a Salesforce customer I would not feel comfortable recommending Salesforce as a platform for customers given that I do not have much experience with their competitors so I would have an extremely bias opinion.
