I've had this keyboard (V65 V2) for a long time. I have the fully built model in white (yes there is a white version, not just the beige). I am typing on it right now. It's an amazing keyboard and I bought it for $100, again fully built. It's a steal. My stabs were perfect out of the box. It's a heavy board and feels premium. I love how easy it is to move between bluetooth and wired just by plugging the cable in and using some shortcut keys. FYI, it was also sold as the Finalkey V65 and a few other names.

Very cool and clean build! There’s also the v75 pre built with matte switches and that has the assembly screws separate from the rubber feet. I think that goes for around 145$ after tax on amazon rn. I picked it up a couple weeks ago and it’s very solid. Sounds great out of the box with the only issue being the spacebar needing some dielectric grease. 🙏🏽

My only issue with separate numpads is that they cost like half the amount of a full 104 key keyboard. Like the amazing keychron k4 v2, which I spent $100 buying durock dolphin switches and the equipment to mod it. If I could get a barebones keychron k4 v2 or a similar 96% with a knob and some macro keys on the left side for under $100 I'd be a happy boy! But with more advanced features like foam, gaskets and aftermarket stabilizers then I'd expect those to come in barebones around $150 or less. Because I prefer silent switches and it seems like not very many boards offer them, I'll almost always be putting them in myself thus me wanting barebones. I also like having wireless/Bluetooth too. If I could get a wired and wireless hotswap barebones numpad for $20-30 then maybe it would be worth it. Since I'll be putting durock dolphins in it. But no way I'm spending $50 for 1/10th a keyboard 😂

I had the V2 revision of this keyboard, but recently Cidoo launched a V3 with 2.4GHz connectivity. I bought the V3 revision entirely because of that, and to my surprise it also sounds substantially better than the older version, but in their webpage they don't mention anything about it! It would be interesting to take a look at that.

I have the same problem, but learned if you're on a Windows system, you can use Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator to assign characters to keys. Now I can type áéíóúñ by holding the right alt key and pressing the letter (actually, I press shift as well, because I have Greek letters mapped to the same keys for math/stats writing). It's much faster than using the alt codes. Now I'm wondering if you could do the same thing but easier with via.

@@PellyAaron I've done the same thing. AltGr + R = ®, AltGr+C= © etc. So useful. People don't know about MS Keyboard Layout Creator I feel like. Also PowerToys Keyboard manager is useful for key combinations. I have a 65% keyboard and have put a numpad layer on 789uiojkl etc. But I also have a separate numpad that I use occasionally. I feel like even if you use it alot, it makes more sense to have it separate, I have mine to the right of the mouse. So keyboard - mouse - numpad. Works great.

Um or you can just program any shortcut you want with via? And why do u need alt codes then? U guys know that on windows you can swap to latam kb with a single shortcut and back to enus the same right? And that u dont need alt codes to type accents if u swap kb layout in os? You have a normal, grave, umlaut and a few other accent modifiers available at the os level on every keyboard regardless if you simply configure it correctly

I got a 75% custom keyboard recently and while the day to day experience is great I still often find myself reaching for where my numpad use to be whenever I need to type numbers or even just to hit enter with my right thumb sometimes. I also do like the numpad because a lot of games support them and you can often put your more complicated but less often keybindings off onto it (like engine controls for flight combat games.)

I am still using it and, on a whim, looked up modding and found your channel and completed my 1st mods "taping" my pcb and dielectric grease the stabs? the results were night and day. numpads are built in stream decks, aligned directional keys, etc. a lot of the angst, is if keyboards without it become the de-facto standard, a huge number of production and design programs (including the ones they design the keyboards with) will have a lot less space to put shortcuts that don't need a control, or shift, or alt. In blender, the numpad is how you turn to cardinal directions, nudge your view, and grow/shrink selections. you can do that with the number bar, but good luck figuring out if 4 or 8 is "up" or "left"

As a game developer, full 100% layout or bust. There's always some funny keyboard shortcut that won't work with FN key combination nonsense. This makes for keyboard shopping nothing short of frustrating when 90% of the market only seems to be nothing but 60% layouts or thereabouts. TKL + Numpad is a solution if you can spare the extra USB, but that's not a compromise one should have to make. Anyone who's ever used Blender will know the importance of a numpad lol

Great video as always. You're missing one key detail: Although it's VIA compatible, the VIA programmability sucks compared to full QMK boards. No mod-tap, double-tap, no macros that include timing, and many other QMK bits are just missing. You have to manually load the .json, and then it's trial and error to see what commands they bothered to include, and you can't save/load profiles. If you want to move a macro from one key to the other, you must remake it every time. And even though you can program the knob, the board will only respect the knob mappings on the first layer. If you've programmed a keyboard with VIA/QMK, this is just bad. No keyboard KZfaqr has bothered to point out these deficiencies, which are very important for some users' productivity. This seems to be a widespread problem with wireless keyboards that advertise "VIA", but not "VIA/QMK". It would help the community if reviewers pointed this out. I still love these Cidoo boards for what they are. I have a V75, which is a bit nicer than the V65: it has built in forcebreak pads and basically everything is slightly improved over the V65, including the gasket issues you point out here. It also includes screw in stabs that are properly lubed and don't tick, plus a cool magnetic dongle storage cubby under the logo, for the 2.4ghz wireless that the V65 also lacks. Oh, and the feet are no longer on top of the screw holes. And I love Rick and Morty as much as you do, but your own creativity is more engaging than your impressions. They're pretty good impressions, but I think they take away from your style, instead of adding to it. This is a compliment, it's much more entertaining when you just do you. Your brand is distinctive and entertaining, moreso without imitating others.

@@stanum2169 Did you read my full post? I list a bunch of deficiencies immediately after mod-tap and double-tap. Please read the full paragraph. I don't know which other numpads to buy, but I would only buy one that specifically advertises QMK, which will probably be not wireless.

I have the 80% of this keyboard, (and the numpad) and I like it. The one thing that drives me nuts is the feet on the numbpad are slickly less thick than the main keyboard, so they height doesn't line up perfectly. They make silent versions of their switches that are also good, if that's your thing. And yes, it's a boring design. Screws are not under the feat on the 80%! They also have the nutso V33 which has a numpad, the home/insert, etc and arrow keys.

Picked up a white pre-built one of these "used" but never opened for about half the price and it's amazing. As noted in another comment I already had some of these switches in another board and like them but this truly sounds amazing, especially for the price I paid. On the pre-built it looks like none of the diffusers are installed so I'll have to do that, they come in a separate bag -- worth noting when I moved mine from one keyboard to another a few months ago they all fell out like yours - thank goodness that doesn't happen with the Morandi as I have WAY too many of those. I do not like the font and the keys are dye sub but they are VERY thick and sound great. Was planning on putting on a set of DROP DCX WOB but might keep these on for a while instead. Thanks for the video, I probably would have ignored this video and picked up a Q2 Pro... not that I really needed another 65% as I primarily use my Neo65 but... dang this hobby is a money drain, lol.

The reason i like a full (instead of 96%) is the location for home/end/page up/down etc... I get why people want smaller, but some of us actually like the larger ones. And a small keyboard with the numpad still isnt the same. Now if we're comparing to 96% then i do agree a seperate numpad is nice. But if you want the full sized keyboard, thats really the form factor you want.

Even if I don't use the numpad much, desktop keyboards just look wrong without. They're not... rectangular enough.

I like being able to fit my keyboard in my back pocket or slide it out of the way between my monitor mounts, so I don't really appreciate numpad. I'm getting to the point now where I might even use a 40% with arrow keys because numbers are dumb and layers exist.

I just spent $139 to buy the TKL (V87) size for this keyboard. Oh. My. God. This is my first decent keyboard and it sounds AMAZING! Previously my daily driver was a Glorious GMMK (first edition), and I thought it sounded OK. But then I watched a few too many Hipyo Tech videos and I soon became envious of your keyboards making this heavenly noise I can only describe as "marbly". I guess the acoustics have something to do with the fact that this keyboard weighs about the same as my entire desktop computer. I can definitely see myself using it as a defensive bludgeoning weapon in a pinch. I am not fond of the color scheme but it looks sufficiently retro that I can see what they were going for. Everything about feels high quality, from the stiffness of the knob ( ͡º ͜ʖ ͡º), to the way the dongle pops out when I take off the little cover. It's perfect. There's thocky, there's clacky, and then there's MARBLY. My favorite sound is MARBLY, and I didn't know how I would go about getting a keyboard that was marbly. Is my new CIDOO V87 marbly? Yes. Yes it is.

Also, Cidoo might watch your videos, because the keyboard I got has screw holes that are not blocked by the feet on the bottom.

Like you I really like the WS Morandi, however I have a very flexy Q1 Pro build that the stem wobble was a little too much on the F Row so I tried these Matte switches and love them. The lighting is great like on the Morandi but there is less wobble. The sound is a little higher to me and they aren't as sooth but very close in both areas making them a great choice for the price!

I just entered the market for a new keyboard and literally every one I am interested in is not in stock. The V65 doesn't deliver to my area AZ. Like ya boy struggling with these razors that break 1 month after warranty ends (both my razor keyboards did this and I complained to them just to hear too bad its out of warranty, here is 10$ off).

I recently purchased a Keychron Q5 barebones and after building it and trying it out, I’m still a bit unhappy it isn’t a 100%. This isn’t for gaming, I work in IT and I want a better typing experience for work. Why is there so little love for 100% keyboards? Why is there no love for business users? Do I need to buy a Model M to find the love I’m looking for?

Im so glad you reviewed this board. I bought this board a couple weeks ago and noticed there werent many quality reviews on it. *This keyboard is nice but you have to make sure you dont remap the usb mode key otherwise if you accidentally turn on the board you cant turn off the bluetooth or connect to via.* Also, if you take the feet off often you can place a tape under the feet and use it as a handle to remove the feet easily. Oh and the mint switches are really good if you get them. The quake switches are hit or miss since the ones in my first board are really scratchy. The keycaps are super thick and are some of the best stock ones ive felt

I prefer 75% keyboards AND a separate numpad! I'm right-handed, and don't want my mouse to be way out there in right field, so I set my numpad up on the left side of the keyboard. It doesn't take that much to get used to using your left hand for the numpad, and my mouse stays in a comfortable spot. Actually, I've always wondered why the standard, full-size keyboard layout didn't change long ago after mice became a necessity, moving the numpad to the left side.

The real reason a lot of keyboards are smaller than 100% is simply due to manufacturing costs. Just the PCB cost alone jumps significantly in price, not because of just extra material per board, but because PCBs are produced in massive sheets where you have to nest individual boards with the goal of reducing waste; i.e. smaller boards just tesselate the mother PCB better. Then on top of that you also have other costs that require more material. Then furthering that you have aditional switch and keycap costs, etc. Then you can get into the opinionated debates of layouts, desk space, usage, and aesthetics. But there is one fact here, the 100% we know today hails from when computers were consoles without a separate pointing device, this is why we have the navigation cluster, and why the numpad is often an shift-key nav pad. Another fact is that mice historically have not needed massive sweeping motions like our modern high-DPI gaming uses do. Just like the fact that our typical keyboard layout hails from the days of the typewriter, even if this isn't the most efficient way to type, though typewriters didn't have much choice due to physical constraints. This is where things start getting so heavily opinionated, because it comes down to what your use actually entails. Though I will say, my opinion is that modern layouts should be southpaw, they just make more sense no matter what your use is, editing, graphics, CAD, gaming, etc., any task that mainly uses the mouse with keystrokes (which is virtually all modern programs) would benefit from a left keypad, your left hand has less distance to move which in turn gives your right hand less distance to move if you need the right half of the alpha cluster; the only exception to this is if you're using a left-handed mouse, then a 'standard' 100% becomes the correct choice, but then again how many people are actually using left handed mice given the market and given that you can learn to use your non-dominant hand for something as simple as a mouse; i.e the desk peripherals are a weird non-cohesive mix of what should be right and left handed. Though my other opinion is that I think numpads themselves are inherently limited, unless all you do is basic number entry with simple digits and basic arithmetic, I'm not saying to put the entirety of math symbols onto a numpad but there's so many quality of life improvements that could be had if the numpad was even just slightly expanded on, even as a macropad the typical 4x5 is just limited and you're not always guaranteed the entire 20 keys as you'll likely end up with a few less, so even just as a macro grid the numpad layout is inherently limited; and another argument of southpaw layouts, a left hand numpad would have access to backspace, delete, text cursor navigation, and symbols like commas, slashes, and the variety of brackets, because all of this is easily accessed by the right hand on most layouts from TKL down to 75% layouts and _some_ 65% layouts, just from the southpaw aspect numpad use already gets expanded on by just properly appropriating which hands are on which keys while only using shift as a partial-use modifier, though mod layers can alleviate this but most boards out of the box don't do more than a shift layer and again the numpad is typically a navpad under the shift layer. I'll also give another opinion, maybe the typical standard desk setup isn't the most optimal, it's the most universal in terms of what's typically used and does come from historical aspects (typewriters and keyboard-only console computers), but I think there's other solutions that can be adapted to that would be much better than what's currently typical, and that starts with what split ergo boards start to get into beyond your typical alphanumerical cluster, with more mod layers, the option of trackballs/trackpads/other pointers on a thumb cluster, more efficient layouts, etc., the issue is that people don't like to adapt even if it can be proven to be better in various aspects (See the issue of the learning curve of the Steam Controller compared to the absolute powerhouse of usability the SC was for reference, people didn't want to adapt and the product tapered off until the frivolous Scuf lawsuit happened and killed the physical product, though the software side still lives on as Steam Input API, which is still a powerhouse of what controller software can be); what we're bound to in terms of what's typical really is not the best or even the most efficient, and there's some unique ideas out there like what @lynxware-org is doing with their macro-pointer device(s), or similarly the Azeron Cyro, and while _these_ might not be the best for typist use you can also see how these concepts could evolve into something that leans into what could be typist-friendly, _and there's so many more projects and concepts out there to explore._ See how opinions get a bit out of hand when debates start to have no factual basis outside of anecdotes, comparisons, and studies?

It's not the num pad that ruins me. It's the lack of additional real estate for specific keys like print screen. Hold on. Yes, I know. But in MY situation, I do not have one. I'd have to effectively mod it in, which is fine, but the fact that no matter what, I have to make a sacrifice somewhere. It bothers me lol I like my options
