I currently take part in a biology-math master degree because I want to include more math in biological systems and oh boi was I lost the first week and so frustrated. But seeing that other knowledgable people also help themselves via scripts or have to double check sometimes is so reassuring! This meme video helped on a lot more levels than Andrew realizes :D

The math gets pushed out by the Feynman rules. It also becomes a lot more important to learn to approximate functions than to solve them analytically. And in theoretical particle physics it is very rare that you actually perform many of the differentiation rules seen in high school.

But these are all compositions of elementary functions. It really isn't that hard to differentiate them with the chain rule and product rule. It's the notation that makes them so awful.

I actually think Jen's differentials and integrals (without the caveats and completely ambiguous ones) are a nice teaching tool to get people used to bad notation (which you'll see plenty of in a mathematics education.)

7:29 Andrew what are you doin?? Use the fundamental theorem of engineering: sin(x) = x and cos(x) = 1, so you only have to differentiate with respect to simley sin(1)

Any time I’ve seen you do a collaborative video with other math/science youtubers, I’ve had a hard time finishing the video. I really enjoy your humor, but I feel like a lot of the other guys just can’t really pull it off or contribute much. I think your stuff with Flammable Maths is the first collab that I’ve really enjoyed and wanted more of. I definitely encourage you to keep bringing him around and I can guarantee I’ll be watching if you do.

Awesome video! Andrew you should've used this for the degree diff: sp.exp(3*x) * sp.cos(x) instead of np.e which will return e as a symbol and not evaluated, and your answer is the right one.

22:30 You can write e^3°*cos(°) as e^3°/(1/cos(°) ) and use quotient rule. Numpy has the right solution. Regards, an engineer

@10:00 you just do chain rule for the three nested functions. Your python solver led to a trig sub that made the answer look even more complicated than it really was.
