The fact you don't have to spend a huge amount of time sourcing, cooking, and then eating the food (most carnivores can get by on one meal a day) is a real game changer. Because not only are you at your healthiest, you've got all this time back for other things.

Carnivore now for over a year now. Simple is the best for me for sure. I do a lot of sous vide. I buy many pounds of chuck when it goes on sale and sous vide it for between 32 to 35 hours at 131. Then freeze it and use it when I want. Many ways to use it when cooked that way. Broil, sear it frying in wagu fat, on the grill. Soooo yummy. It comes out like a huge rib eye super tender and delicious. I'm never going back to the standard American diet. No more diabetes, high blood pressure, acid reflux, no more napping in the afternoon. I sleep like a baby I had always had trouble sleeping. No more knee pain. Energy through the roof. The list goes on. All my blood work is great. Good luck people it's so worth it. Oh ya lost 60lb also.

A common hypothesis is that cravings originate in the gut microbiome signalling via the nervous system to the brain that they need their favourite food. So as time goes by and the meat loving bacteria become dominant while the carb lovers die out, anyone can get used to liking meat. I believe in it, as it's been exactly like that for me. No dairy for a while - and the cravings go away. Same with nicotine, strangely enough. I've tried to kick it all my life, but since I went carnivore, it was a breeze. Good luck, everyone!

I'm still ketovore so still use seasonings, some artificial sweeteners and coffee. Yes, I admit it probably keeps me from my most optimal but it still keeps all of the old food noise from re-appearing and the cravings are not there. Not constantly being hungry and thinking about the next meal has been a life changer. Also, for those saying they can't afford it, I find this much cheaper than the cost of the waste and energy and time along with the medical savings I've had since this has resolved my HBP, T2D, and stasis.

I eat OMAD, and 99% of the time it's ground beef, my experience for the last year and a half is this: I have never gotten bored, each day at 5pm I have a large bowl of ground beef 20/80, and a pinch of salt, when it's time to eat, I am "ready" and looking forward to it, what I have never experienced after the first 2 weeks at the beginning, is hunger/hangry, I'm just not hungry, at all, between 5pm to 5pm the following day, it's mind-blowing, if somebody else told me they could live like this 2 years ago, before I began, I'd have thought they had lost their mind or BS'ing me.

@@DavidCote333 Yes, I eat all and every kind of meat and seafood to varying degrees, I regard these as occasional "treats" on one day a week, and it's different each week (the weekend) is when I do this. Liver (raw or cooked, mostly raw), lamb, fish, crustaceans, pork in all its forms, ox/sheep/pork heart and kidneys, ox tail, marrow bones and lastly chicken (the fatty cuts, thighs/drumsticks/wings, rarely breast wich I have with tallow/lard/ghee/ butter to balance the lack of fat in the breasts, always skin on) lately it's been venison again with external fats added as it's extremely lean. Raw beef fat, cubed , salted and frozen is my snack/chewing gum 😂, and of course eggs, cooked every way, or eaten raw (Rocky Balboa style), or "smoothied" with ghee/nescafe/full fat cream etc. The only limit to variety is your own imagination, or lack of, experimenting is fun 😁.

Okay, here I am then: I hate the way fatty meat tastes. Except ribeye. Chuck-eye is tolerable. Oxtail, short ribs, brisket, they're all godawful. I also hate tallow and bone marrow. And I've been on this way of eating for 15 months now. I do like lean meats still, though. However, for anyone reading this: I am well aware that I am a huge outlier. I got shafted on the whole carnivore deal by my genetics, I just don't digest fats very well, and that means I just don't get a lot of the benefits others get. Most people don't have my problems. And even WITH my problems, I would still wholeheartedly recommend carnivore, because the benefits that I *do* get are just *that* worth it. But I do agree about the craving part. I don't crave carbs. I miss them sometimes - especially freshly baked bread - but it's very rare that I get this strong desire to eat them. It's a bit like with alcohol - yeah, the feeling of having a nice buzz and having a good time with friends is nice, good memories and all that, but I don't get the urge to actually start drinking.
@DavidCote333
@DavidCote333 2 ай бұрын
That’s interesting. I avoid oxtail, raw milk, and other things cause it sounds weird. But usually, to me, fattier meat normally tastes better. But, it has to be well marbled. A chuck steak is not as good as other cuts of steak just because there is more fat. (Chuck eye is pretty good though) Either way, I’m glad you’ve found what works for you. What is your normal go to?
@Sylvine
@Sylvine 2 ай бұрын
@@DavidCote333 I mostly eat ribeye steak, which I like, and ground beef, which I only tolerate but can afford more easily. Eggs too, they're somewhere in between. I also make bone broth somewhat regularly. And I'll try a brisket or other cuts occasionally, just to see if maybe my taste has adapted enough to like them, but usually that's a big fail. I like tenderloin, roastbeef etc, but I tend to avoid them 'cause too lean. I know I need the fat even if I don't like it. Other than those staples I'll occasionally have other things like fatty fish, calf liver, non-fish seafood, chicken or lamb, very rarely some pork, but most days it's just steak or ground beef. Cheese/yoghurt/cream-based sauces occasionally, heavy cream for coffee - which I unfortunately need due to working shifts again. Went 6 months without it just fine before, then switched jobs and managed to fall asleep on the highway, lucky to be alive. Ill take coffee over coffin. I'm adding generous amounts of butter to everything, even the coffee. Sometimes I order some duck fat for cooking and for self-made mayo too, I can handle it way better than tallow or lard, but it's kinda expensive.

Thank you for the video. The thing that helped me the most (so far)was eating more. I don’t get cravings if I stuff myself at my meal(s). Before carnivore I ate till I wasn’t hungry but I can’t do that on carnivore or I will want to munch on carbs shortly after eating. Now I force myself till I have no more room. Then I don’t eat till the next day. I usually eat 2 meals within a 6 hour period. It took me months of struggling till I found this out for myself. DC learning to live said some people struggling with carnivore were eating too little and that was me. I thought I was eating enough because I wasn’t hungry. But years of fasting have taught me not to pay enough attention to hunger signals. (Periodic fasting for cancer prevention; mom dad, grandma,grandpa, aunts uncles all died from cancer)

Developing an aversion to eating meat was my biggest concern prior to eating a pure meat diet. I figured it would be just like eating too many chocolate bars and getting sick of them. I was wrong. I've experienced the same thing this man did regarding looking forward to my next meal. It is a pleasure eating a meal that is pure beef and contemplating it as well. So much so, that I now feel that a truly appropriate diet for humans is meat. Regarding variety: I discovered I don't need variety by eating cast iron cooked steaks for about 3 months. Then one day I discovered Barbeque smoking. That added a tasty dimension to my meals that I did not need to be satisfied on carnivore, but added pleasure all the same. Then a friend suggested sushi. I was able to find sashimi grade salmon and tuna at the supermarket. I am allowing the one plant toxin of soy sauce in when I eat sashimi. I am 100% clean otherwise, so I figure it's not that bad to allow 8 grams of fermented plants into my diet when I have the sashimi. No adverse reactions - yet. But only had sashimi twice - so there is that. All together I feel like I have an amazingly varied diet. Lots of different tastes. No looking back. Cravings are much like how this fellow describes remembering the pleasure associated with smoking: I recall it being pleasurable/tasty, but it's easy to resist because I like being thin and feeling energetic and having a mind that is clearer than it was before.

I don't go super strict on myself because I believe in stress free living being a major component in health. Other than that, mostly meats, fish, eggs. Yes, it makes thinking of what’s for dinner so much easier! lol As for the sauce thing there are carnivore sauce recipes, but I haven’t used any other than trying to make a mayonnaise for deviled eggs. As a goal, my opinion is we should keep making improvements but make changes that we can stay committed to. If you have some sauce but you use less sauce over time and less frequently then you are improving. Also, if the worst part of your diet is that you house a little sauce then I think you’ll be ok unless you have serious autoimmune issues or something. Progress over perfection.

When you've been in bed for over 20 yrs of your life, and doctors led you on wild goose chases from specialist to specialist and all they do is throw pills at you, then tell you to eat your vegetables...but all the while you get more sick, how my meat is prepared is low on my list of priorities, what matters is that I eat it. It has made such a difference in my health, that I can't imagine eating anything else. When I see that beef, no matter how it's cooked, I will eat it happily, because it means healing. So no, I have no problems with getting tired of eating beef. My only problem is affording beef, or most any kind of meat now, it's all too expensive.

Keep in mind that your health markers will _always_ improve when you *lose weight* . Carnivore can be a short term strategy to get you back to a healthy weight range, but it's objectively bad for your health in the long term.
@DavidCote333
@DavidCote333 2 ай бұрын
For me, this is the better long term solution. Every other way of eating before this was leading me to bad health or I wasn’t able to stay disciplined enough to stick with whatever diet I was on. I believe this way of eating is extending my life since all other ways were leading to me being more and more unhealthy. This is the longest I’ve ever been able to stick to something that wasn’t the standard American diet. Besides that, have you heard of people doing a carnivore diet for decades? I have and they seem and sound very happy and healthy.

@@DavidCote333 If it works for you, go for it. At the end of the day, it's about compliance and energy in and out that gets the job done. All I'm saying is there's literally decades of research and evidence including controlled ward studies that clearly demonstrate diets high in saturated fat, low in fiber are detrimental to health. There's pretty much zero debate that a nutritionally balanced diet that favours plants and lean protein and includes all food groups is best for health and longevity. But that's not sexy. Carnivore has none of this, and all the reported benefits seem to be anecdotal - or from people trying to sell you something. Even that crackpot Paul Saladino no longer follows it due all his health markers going to shit.

@@geneharrogate6911 That is a bold-faced lie. The vast majority of "studies" in nutrition are necessarily epidemiological in nature and inherently do not inform us well on cause and effect. That is before we even get into all the other usual issues with them, like low sample size, bad signal to noise ratio, or weak results being misleadingly presented as strong ones (i.e., "we've found a 25% increase in risk of cancer!" -> yes, we went from 4 cases per 10 000 participants in group A to 5 cases per 10 000 participants in group B). Then there's the fact that most studies don't differentiate between meat fried in seed oils and meat fried in lard, or processes and unprocessed meat, or eating saturated fats with carbs or without them. A full hamburger with salad, onions, pickles, cheese and drenched in sauce will count as "a serving of meat" just the same as a grass-fed steak fried in tallow on a cast-iron pan. It seems to frankly be a case of "We started frying our meats in seed oils and putting concentrated fructose on them and the incidence of cardiovascular disease went up! The meat must be the cause!". Definitely not a basis to claim that they "clearly demonstrate" anything, let alone Your ridiculous assertion. And there is indeed quite a lot of debate. Just not among people who can face financial and legal consequences for stepping out of line. When You can get fined or lose Your license for NOT recommending a "balanced diet" as a dietician, well, small wonder all the practicing dieticians are recommending it. Those who aren't lose their dietician license. Ergo there are no dieticians who don't recommend it.

@@Sylvine Sorry champion, ad hominems and some bizarre assertions about frying meat in seed oil (here we go..) and legal ramifications of diet recommendations, an argument do not make. I can back up my claims with data. Real data, particularly as it relates saturated fat, LDL and the resultant CVD. Can you? Put up, or shut up.
