Yes!!!! I’m the black sheep in my fam because I purposefully refuse and reject all of my parents and in-laws advise about (and requests for) $$!! I have savings and my house is halfway paid off and no other debt. My parents, my in-laws and my ex husband who behaves like our parents all have car payments, cc debt, and no savings. They are miserable and jealous people. I am so happy with where I am at financially because I live like prepper princess. This lifestyle is more rewarding for me than rat racing and keep up with the joneses lifestyle. I don’t care about impressing strangers. I care about independence and freedom.

I'll never forget, ~2010,on TV, big-time female financial guru is on the street surrounded by fans and one wide eyed girl asks her "Suzy, should I buy a house?" and Suzy says "No! I don't think the housing market is going to fully recover until around 2020." Well, I'm thinking, "What about to live in? The sooner you buy a house, the sooner you stop paying rent, whether the home price rises or not, right?" and I went and bought a house that year and it was the smartest thing I ever did. Only listen to people who have done it for themselves, like this woman.

So true! I once listened to a friend when I was at university and had bills that would have made my bank balance in the red. I was stressing that I didn't have enough money and that I had to cut down on going out or buying a new top for a party and she said to me, 'Why do you have to do that? Just borrow the money from your bank - you have a free overdraft up to $1000, just dip into it and then pay it back in the summer when you get a job.' The thing is, a better thing would have been to get a job or ask my dad for the money. It is NEVER ok to get into debt when you have other options. Debt is basically all about instant gratification and you eventually pay for it in the future - you're literally stealing from your future to pay for your present.

I have an odd take on the car buying thing... When I buy a automobile, I buy it brand new. I take care of it. All maintenance is always done. I kept two Honda accords for 10 years each. Then I sold them at a profit ( people bought them for mone than they were worth.) I bought a brand new Toyota tundra. Yes it was expensive at the time. That was in 2006. Same thing keep that maintenance done! I am still driving the truck. It's 16 years old. Runs like a champ. Looks miserable...but I see that as an anti theft device. I still just do the maintenance. Parts are cheap for it now. So I see an auto as an investment. Not to make money in the long run, but to save money... insurance is less, the longer I keep it the less replacement parts are. And I like the vehicle!

"Don't listen to people who are dumber than you." Excellent advice and outstanding rant!!! Your experience with the precious metals was very instructive. The stack jingling was really an effective audiovisual teaching aid! 😊 (I'm sure someone has or will suggest to you that you donate the coins to an animal charity, but they would probably have similar problems getting the money for them. Gold can be used in the manufacture of electrical contacts for connectors used in printed circuit boards and the like. However you can't eat precious metals unless you have an unusual metabolism.) Of course anyone who has ever listened to ANY politician has most likely listened to some one who is dumber than they are. Maybe it is impossible to escape. A year ago during lockdown, I noticed that tiaras and bigtime old jewelry were going for sale at auction houses like Christie's, for well over the expected price. That would have been the time I'd have thought you couldn't expect much for something like that, I thought you'd have to expect a much lower price than usual for such nice jewelry. So I think rich people are always rich, and if you have what they want, they'll pay a good price for it. I wonder if now is a good time for Princess to sell.

Thanks so much for this. I've had to learn the hard way that not all advice is created equal. You hit the nail on the head when you said that you should only be taking advice from people smarter than you. I've made so many past mistakes where taking advice from people who I thought had practical experience and thus had valuable advice when in fact I knew more than they did a lot of times. I've also come to learn that just because someone owns (or has a lot of mortgages out on) a lot of real estate doesn't necessarily mean that they know the first thing about real estate investing or property management.

In speaking directly with a lady from Venezuela, folks are making purses for sale out of their paper money because it is worthless. They can sell the purses and be better off. Excellent points! If you learn to do silversmithing at your local community college or art school, you can turn your pure silver coins into wearable jewelry and sell it. You can do the same with the gold coins. There will always be a market for wedding rings, pendants and earrings made of precious metal. I used to make these things for fun. Other than making jewelry for you to wear or to sell, precious metal coins and bars are not of much use to the individual prepper.

To buy a used car requires a few rules. Check the previous owner. Don't buy it when it had ten owners. Check the address where the previous owner lives. When it says something like Villa Costera Rd. you can buy that car. Check the car service book. Ideally, the car should have been serviced once a year at an authorized repair shop for this brand of car. Mileage. For example, a five-year-old car would ideally have 50,000 miles or less. Check the car body when it has bumps the engine might also not be in a good shape. The car should start easily without struggling, banging, or stalling. Listen to the engine run. The engine should not make any tapping, knocking, or pinging noises, nor should it smoke. Watch the exhaust and check to see if an unusual amount of emissions gas is being emitted.

Hi Princess, great videos always, from a personal experience I agree that total relying on “stacking” gold and silver wouldn’t get you anywhere, still, having some, few can be good for barging in any SHTF or currencies devaluation crisis. Having buckets full of them would just make that “holder” person a target for anyone that knows about that stack in any SHTF and would also limit ability to bug-out and move freely in any hard situations. Still I saw when I was a kid how gold or some jewelry can help a family during tough times. All the best.

I agree with everything you’ve said, I have only had used cars since college (I’m 54 now), am almost done paying off my house, don’t spend money on entertainment or vacations or clothes or mani-pedis, don’t shop (except books - don’t come for me), don’t get my hair colored, etc. But I want to offer another perspective on gold. Gold holds its value relative to all other investments and it carries no counter party risk which is very important. If we go into another depression, you can pay your property taxes with it so you don’t lose your house. Your stocks will be largely gone, 401k will be gone, IRA, gone, social security, pension and possibly job, all gone. And even if your house is paid off, if you can’t pay your property taxes, you’ll lose your house too. That’s enough reason for me to have gold. Gold is not meant to be an “investment”, like stocks or real estate. You don’t buy physical gold and silver for that. You buy it as a store of wealth. It’s an insurance policy, a hedge against inflation. And yes, here in Texas, you can pay your property taxes with gold. It’s foolish not to have that if you can in my opinion. Of course you also need to be prepping everything else as well, food, rainwater catchment, energy, medical, security, barter-ability, community, etc. Calculate how much you need to pay your property taxes for 5 years and have enough gold for that and if you have more than that, hell yes! Sell your remaining gold and install a rainwater catchment system and put solar panels on your house! Just make sure you keep that house and gold will ensure that.

So glad to have found this information by age 24, although I kinda always knew that conventional "wisdom" is wrong 99% of the time but it's nice to see people making money playing it smart, makes me have a happy outlook on my own future.

I would buy some silver in small denominations but to spend $2000 on one single gold coin sounds a little absurd.

Good for you. I’m surrounded by people who like leasing cars. They like being able to “upgrade” their vehicles, even though they’re stuck with permanent payments...I tried to talk to a retired friend about buying a car outright so she wouldn’t have to deal with payments as a retiree. It fell on deaf ears. She also thinks leasing is a great idea...In the meantime, my car is eleven years old, paid for and l keep it neat and clean and take it for regular oil changes, etc. I also keep sinking funds for any problems that might come up with it!

Thank you again! I broke the normal, have been (sometimes barely) tolerating neighbors nasty remarks about having vegetables in my yard. Its attracting vagrants to steal it. The raccoons, rats, mice are invading the neighbors. The climbing vines on trellis are eyesore and encourage rodents to nest. So with these complaints came the city inspectors. I quietly asked a couple other local gardeners who advise me to the inspection. Am so pleased they came! My rebuildt greenhouse can stay. Some of the flowers and medicinal herbs deter rodents and deer. No traces of rodent trails, nestts, or dropping coul be found, next to house. There are on the alley and along the neighbors side of my garage. Hmm, interesting. My plant stand, with shelf our for trellis was four inches too close to my driveway - It has to be fixed next planting. Ok, thank you. My "view" of neighbors bathroom, iobstructed by those same vines? After (untimely?) inside view, of purposely seeing neighbor not close their bathroom door for toilet and seeing into their shower. I can keep my vines at an acceptable height for my privacy. Yeahoo. Oh, since no reports of garden theft in 20+ years, the vagrant claim was tossed out. Thank you, again. It's so nice to not be normal in this way! I hope others can find happiness in their gardens too.

I live in a neighborhood where most people take care of their homes and gardens. Two years ago a woman from NYC bought my neighbors house and it went from a pristine and cared for home and garden to a neglected garden and the home is painted like we were living in Key West. (I used to live in the Keys.) The other home once cared for and nice was bought last year by a New Yorker, I can tell from his voice, and they have turned it into a trailer trash paradise with lines holding up tarps and trash everywhere. I work hard on my garden and making my home look nice and my mother is next door and she does the same. Fortunately we don't have an HOA but unfortunately the county let's these people do what they want. Best wishes to you and keep on gardening!

re: gold and silver, you need to remember that there are people out here who bought precious metals 30 or more years ago when they were much much less expensive than today. True, in your scenario, there's no profit. But I know someone who sold a bunch of gold and silver they'd bought many years ago and made a HUGE amount of money. But the trick is to buy low, sell high, and hold on to it for awhile. Most people won't or can't do that. Therefore, for many people it probably isn't a great choice. However, that doesn't describe everyone. I do agree that if shtf, and someone has a big horde of physical gold/silver, it will be difficult to unload. The gov will most likely confiscate and/or track anyone who has precious metal supplies and rip them off or rob them of their value. The trick is all in the timing with regards to precious metals. Sell when they are high (and u bought low) and then you can make a huge profit. But not in your scenario where you bought high and they will only pay you BELOW what you bought it for.

The only difference between us, other than our vast difference in age, is that I don't invest in the Market. Not only do I not like the risk but more importantly I don't like their ethics, who and where they are investing other people's money. So, I am poor but debt free. I will always have a roof over my head, food in the pantry, and a dog I can pamper (you can't cuddle your generators, lol). Rock on Princess. BTW, I loved your video on the electric bike. Looks like so much fun!
