40 years as a residential remodeler. I never left a customer without a functioning kitchen no matter how torn up the place was. Everything was cleaned and vacuumed at the end of the day everyday. Because of the level of service my brother and I provided, we never went without a job in 40 years. Show up, do good work, make money, save, don't do drugs, you'll have a good life.

My brother is in debt up to his eyeballs living on a income over $200,000. I live on a disability income of $12,000 n I'm debt free NO mortgage, NO credit card debt, NO car payments nothing. When my Mother asks for financial advice sh ALWAYS goes to my brother, who by the way HAS to have my Mom co sign for him to get these things, and she does. It frustrates the hell out of me.

You dont have to listen to anyone..clearly you already know that. I grew up in Pleasant Hill, CA and always hated the traffic noise and all the rude people. I found a crazy good deal on a property in the forest (Sutter Creek) so I jumped on it. I bought it with cash so now I'm pretty broke but I'm figuring it out as I go. Totally worth it. Zero traffic noise. Big trees. No kitchen! I have a fridge, a bbq, a toaster oven, an air fryer, and a 5th burner. I can figure out how to cook pretty much anything except maybe a huge turkey. I love living in the woods so much I'll make anything work! Everyone's got their thing, and everyone is different. Do whatever the hell you want to make your own dreams come true♡

I’m old enough to be your mother and am here to tell you - well done and don’t listen to losers. I bought and sold three properties before I was thirty, was so frugal in my savings habits that people laughed at me, and never even owned a car until I was 30 (still got around just fine), preferring to invest instead. But now in my sixties I’m independent, not worried about old age and have a legacy for my niece and nephews. Keep going my friend. I love your videos - you remind me of a young me. PS I have a nice car now!

I was a college professor in a foreign country for 3 years. The lodging that was provided was a two room apartment with a bathroom. There was no kitchen. I had a fridge, microwave and electric rice cooker in the living room. I had enough dishes for myself, and if someone came over, they brought their own. Everything was washed in the bathroom. Sometimes we had hot water, sometimes not. It was a learning and humbling experience, but I must say my relationships with people I met there were deep and without judgement based on material things.

Twenty years ago we had an opportunity to live in a house for free that had a working fridge, running water, but no stove or oven. We were decluttering it as trade and we found a microwave, a coffee maker, and I already had a crockpot. We used the coffeemaker to boil water and I learned how to cook in the microwave... because we also found a pile of cooking magazines with microwave recipes! 😆 I had never cooked with one before, but serendipity! Then for Christmas I made a delicious cranberry pork roast in the crockpot. The best part of that was no fussing all day for a delucious dinner! We could all relax, and weade a new tradition all be ause we had no oven!

We bought full house of cabinets from Habitat for Humanity. They came out of a house from malibu beach ca, cherry cabinets, roll-out shelves, self-close doors for $1000. My husband was a general contractor for 50 years he was always looking for great stuff at the restore. His other favorite store was Furgason's outlet. All of our appliances came from there.

I’m very disappointed in my nephew. He’s 20 something and seems to have developed a lot of entitlement! He went on a 10 day religious retreat recently. He started a go-fund me to pay for it. I donated a sizable amount to it so did his friends and family so he was able to go. Now, I’m hearing that he wants to go to another country to another retreat and asked my father, his grandpa, to send go fund me links to people he knows! My dad was like, no he’s not doing that. If he wants to go he needs to get extra work and pay for it himself, which I absolutely agree…When I was his age, I was going to school and working two jobs six days a week. This new generation doesn’t seem to want to work hard for anything; they just want everything handed to them!

@@cherylT321 that’s a very interesting story. Family members may pay for his trip, but they will quickly learn that he’s asking them to support him and they will eventually stop funding him. I bought a house when I was 34 and owned it for 20 years. Spent all my money on decorating, maintaining and repairing things. There were times I lived without an oven because it broke and I couldn't afford to fix it, without water because they shut it off when I couldn't pay the bill. I was in way over my head so I finally sold the house, packed a bag and moved abroad where I lived in cheap Airbnbs. Saved enough to pay off all my debt, started a business and built a 6-figure nest egg. Home ownership is not for everybody.

When he bought a car she got a loan but paid it off in a matter of months. She didn't have much when she was my age but over time she got raises but didn't buy a more expensive house. He expenses got lower and income got higher and now she has more freedom.

I love this! We've been married for 52 years and have always done without when we didn't have the means for whatever. Currently (long story) we live in a small mobile home and will as long as we are able. There are those who remarked when we moved in here... in a way that it was obvious they thought this would be a temporary situation. Nope! We bought it new 8 years ago because our old house was eaten up by mold. We're still on the same property. The trailer is new and it's comfortable. We do what we can with what we have. Take care.

Speaking as someone who use to be broke, have almost no emergency fund, and a ton of credit card debt spending your emergency fund on the kitchen would be the dumbest thing one could do. So is going into any type of debt if you don't have to (i.e. medical emergency, life or death situation, etc.). When you are in debt who are owned by creditors. Got out of debt in 2021 and will never ever go back there again. I like owning me. Nobody else Just me owning me!

I love the backdoor with built-in blinds. The flooring is gorgeous. 😊 Decorating is not an emergency. Our house was in bad shape when we first took it over. We ripped out our bathroom sink and vanity, due to water damage and rot, yet went 3 months with out a bathroom sink, while we tried to locate a vanity second hand that the sink would fit on, because nothing in the stores was the correct size. Then we came across a kitchen sink display on deep clearance and it was built in to a cabinet already, with tha faucet and everything. It has a weird shape, but it fit, and for $31.65 the price was right. And the next cabinet to remove was the kitchen, so now having a kitchen sink in the bathroom was perfect. We then went 3 months on the kitchen repair and ultimately keeping the old cast iron double sink with drain boards on both sides. We found an imperfect cabinet for one side, and was able to retrofit it with a dishwasher, also bought used. I can be very patient with my money.

Our house was flooded and pretty messed up from hurricane Ian. We lost a 49 ft pool cage that was not covered by insurance! Everyone flipped out that instead of replacing it we chose to put up a fence. New pool cage $30,000, fence $3000 cash. No I’m not spending my emergency fund in a pool cage!! My realtor neighbor was freaking out also that we didn’t take out loans to fix our house since insurance was taking long. We gutted our house on our own, did water mitigation and dried it out in our own, and waited 8 months living with no walls and concrete floors. We had working bathrooms, and we did not care about concrete floors. 8 months later our insurance came in, we had everything 100% repaired in 1 month and took out no loans!!!

This reminds me a guy I work with who is in his 60s married two kids grown up and on their own. His above ground pool needed a new liner, so he had a new one installed this week. The cost total was $4500, this is an above ground pool. He also had his central air reworked that was $5K, all in one week. Not that I care because it's not me or my problem but this guy and his wife have over a half million dollars debt, they went on a 2 week overseas vacation 2 months ago and have so much debt it's unbelievable. If it were me I would have torn down the pool not put $4500 in it but again not my problem but it illustrates where many have their minds at with respect to money.

I actually bought a side by side cut my cabinets and countertop to fit it into this home but now I barely even use the fridge side of it with my current diet. Cost me about $140 plus what ever to go and get it. $40 of that was replacing the thing that turns on the compressor forgot what the part was called. Overrated design once you become unhealthy to eating sweeteners, sugar & flour. A regular fridge with freezer on top would have been fine for how I eat now.

I think it looks great! my husband and I have bought and lived in 4 fixer uppers over the years.. all while we had children. it took a long time to pay cash and do the work ourselves as we could afford it. would have been easier to pay someone? yes for sure! but we did it the hard way and so worth it!

I’m embarrassed for my fellow Americans when they show up on House Hunters International. Their inability to grasp how overblown American culture truly is and disbelief that people can live in small spaces with considerably less stuff is truly cringeworthy. Keep on your path, Prepper Princess! The fruits of your life choices shine for all to see! 🎉

Another good video. When we got married, my husband had his house and it needed a lot of work. There was no central heat, but there was a wood stove. There was no finished kitchen, but there was hot and cold running water and a bathroom, with a blanket for a door. We did not have much money, we did the dishes in the tub, came home mid-day during the winter to keep the fire going and dealt with it. It is certainly doable. We have finished walls, central heat, a beautiful kitchen/diningroom and a nice little deck now. And no, everything is not yet done. But it is good.

People with their pants on fire to see remodeling videos have several to choose from here on utube. What I like about yours is that they are geared towards someone, like myself, who wants to remodel on a budget. I have a lot of time, but little money for remodeling.

When you get your kitchen together, you will appreciate it so much more! I have one burner, a little microwave, and a BBQ. So, two burners would be a real upgrade for me! LOL. I do have tiptop cookware, acquired one piece at a time from thrift stores. I have no debt, but not much else.I Love your point of view, Prepper princess.

Prepper Princess, I adore your videos so much. Just wanted to say that your home is where your heart is. In my case, house or no house, my home is what I say it is. I love what remains of my friends and family. I have found my home within myself. You do an amazing job and you are pretty wise for someone so young. Keep those great inspirational videos coming.

You are sooo wise. I now carry a flash light around instead of turning on a light at night. I am more consciously aware of my surroundings and what I am doing to save money. I switched to high output 4 watt light bulbs (same brightness of a 60 watts) 1 month I save $42 dollars. Call me crazy Save power Save the planet.. Thanks princess for all you do 😊

When I moved into my current house 4 years ago, I took the decision to not purchase a cooker. I now live alone and very rarely used the cooker in my previous house. Instead I use a combination microwave, a slow cooker, an air fryer etc., so I can manage perfectly well without a cooker.

I have a nice GE Profile dishwasher. If I don't literally pre wash the dishes, they dont come out clean... so what's the point? Aside from parties or after mass holiday baking clean up, it's rarely used.

Currently living without a kitchen in my house. We'll get around to it, theres just other places for time and money to go to right now. We got a row of cabinets free fom someone, and bought a length of butcher block for a countertop, a microwave and a coffee maker, also a crockpot and a one burner induction cooktop. The fridge is on the back porch with the washer. Im not whining. Our camper is right outside, and that kitchen is tiny but functional, I use it mostly for pantry storage and to wash dishes.
