Why can't you just read it for what it is? Instead of finding a way to justify to not read it?

True .

100% agree. Couldn't have been expressed so well. It absolutely ticks me OFF people coming out with such nonsense. Hit the nail on the head!

The Count of Monte Cristo would make a great mini-series with the budget of Game of Thrones.
@TKayCO9 ай бұрын
Too hard a task to top the movie though as it’s already a masterpiece.
@tjjordan42079 ай бұрын
@@TKayCO While the movie is good, it doesn't even get close to covering half of the novel's material. I can name so many characters and plotlines that never made it into the film. Ironically, the only adaptation that even comes closest to nearly covering the novel is the anime series: Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo
@TKayCO9 ай бұрын
@@tjjordan4207 Interesting. A series would have more potential to contain significantly more content. It will be compared to the movie though. If they do it right it with good people and high budget it could be incredible. It just doesn’t often turn out that way though. ‘Shantaram’ comes to mind.

I want a series for this so badly. The movies don't do it justice

Yeah, I was never expecting to read it fast. I don't even know why I clicked the video, but I love it ngl. The point about being bored with the premise is sooooo relatable. Happens to me depending on what it is. But the change of story is actually a plus, fr.

I wish youtube didn't cut off the tail end, because the whole of this little blurb/tease is just to take it at your own pace. Fast or slow, just have fun reading it because it was, really, a bit of a silly story as much as an epic.

Honesty the book is great and i loved reading it. The count is literally a master of revenge. What i don’t understand is if people are so concerned about its length why they don’t just read the abridged i mean i read both and the abridged does the original justice.

The funniest thing is. That I had no idea that this was actually a real account the entire time reading it lmao.

I don't know about reading the book wrong, but you are certainly reading Alexandre Dumas' name wrong. It's pronounced Doomah.

Another great point raised. What is it with idiot people. Reminds me of that bit in Shawshank Redemption in the library, 'Dumb_ass', then he's corrected. Great point😊

Finding a good translation is the most important part. > One always hurries towards happiness, Monsieur Danglars, because when one has suffered much, one is at pains to believe in it. > One is always in a hurry to be happy, Monsieur Danglars, for when one has been suffering for a long time it is difficult to believe in one’s good fortune.

He was also paid by the line, so that's why there's much dialogue and also setting up the scene, describing the smell, light, fabrics and more, that I adore. Those were cut in the abridged versions. Don't read those.

I think slowing down and taking your time with these monoliths (War & Peace, Les Miserables) is best. Trying to slog it out just burned me out on the first read-through of Les Mis. Taking my time again recently really was much more enjoyable.
