Yes it used to be called "summer" now one degree up for a couple of days, it is a 'disaster' - 30 years ago, we'd go sit on the beach. 100 years or so ago, there was a real sustained high temp period, that cause real problems.

So we notice ONE DAY when it is 0.67 above a previous record, whereas in the past, no one got to hear about daily temperatures. It was much broader periods of time reports that the plebs heard about. Yes, interior Spain or even interior mountain Portugal / Greece, can have cool night temps in summer but day time afternoons into the 40s. It is normal. I have seen people who have not been to those places much, get all hyped from the reports as they don't realise it is relatively normal ! Yes, it is hot, people take precautions - but the context is, that in southern Europe, once it goes into the mid 30s, people take it easy ! Don't panic Mr Mannering !

@@beedoox5613 I can assure you we have had panels for almost 2 years now, we dont have battery storage as we cannot afford it, they are a waste of space, have hardly seen a difference and during winter may as well be taken down, Mccarthy in another interview said (happily) that he lives and sleeps in ONE room of his house, thats how he lives off grid AND he has battery storage at that
