Gareth’s journalistic integrity is compromised by the fact that he is petrified of upsetting Tyson Fury and no longer being matey and getting access to the Fury camp. Instead of reporting the truth and questioning Fury, Warren and Hearn, Gareth likes to be a “popular” figure amongst the power brokers in UK boxing. That is not a journalist that’s a groupie!

Gareth writes for a national newspaper; however, he will never be a great like David Walsh who exposed Lance Armstrong as the cheating, lying PED user he was. Armstrong was the arch manipulator and enormously powerful in cycling - more so in comparison in his sport than Tyson Fury is in boxing; however, Walsh knew there was a huge pile of shit under the surface and he exposed it. Initially Walsh was lambasted and ostracised by the power people in cycling and his fellow journalists who did not believe him or wanted to believe him. Walsh had the courage and power of his convictions to expose Armstrong for the fraud he was. Gareth A Davies does not need to go anywhere near that extreme of journalism, however, he can’t even bring himself to seriously question and challenge people like Fury or Warren or Hearn because he wants to sit at the top table of boxing and get access to the cuddly stories and be a part of the boxing Funtime gravy train. No, Gareth A Davies is not a true journalist he’s a soft edged reporter who has no courage in supposedly his sport!

What I find silly with some of these pundits is that they slate fighters for not making big fights happen and dragging them out. I LOVE how when this was first announced and Frank was asked about Makhmudov as an opponent for Fury he said “come on we are only interested in big fights”….well he’s a big enough opponent to be put on the card Frank - my guess is Fury does this circus, fights Usyk twice, then messes about with exhibitions and claims he should be in the hall of fame…I will believe the Isyk fight is happening when they are in the ring opposite eachother.

If this happens, then great! I am sceptical due to Fury changing his mind like the wind! Despite what Gareth says, Fury has definitely been the biggest factor with delays to making the undisputed fight. I'm not a fan of some of the contradictions he comes out with, but then it looks like they've played a blinder. Honestly, who wouldn't want to get paid tens of millions for a sparring exhibition mid proper camp for an Usyk fight ? That's basically what this Nganou "fight" is. I'd be happy enough with Fury vs. Usyk, but that Joshua fight would still be interesting to watch

It’s funny. The biggest fight in the sport has been made and the haters are still mad. Some would think they didn’t want it to happen so they could slate Tyson Fury instead of watch him win. He says there’s been plenty of time for Fury to make an undisputed fight but Fury has only had since August 2022 (after the AJ rematch with Usyk for the mandatory). That’s basically 1 year and it’s been signed. That’s incredibly fast. Meanwhile Wilder and AJ had all the belts for 5-6 years and never made undisputed and still can’t agree a fight now 😂!
