The pricing structure from apple is pure genius. The basic iPad with nothing is cheap, but the minute you want something extra like a pencil or storage, it’s so high, the model next up seems tempting and a good buy, until you don’t like the base storage and you end up justifying the apple iPad Pro and paying triple what you intended.
@robertt9342
@robertt9342 2 жыл бұрын
Well accessories that don’t come with higher models don’t really entice you to buy higher end models, cause you’d still need the accessory. However, your point about storage is fair and accurate. The purpose is two-fold. 1) it helps create a product differentiation for higher-end buyers where they don’t want to buy a product that the everyone else has. 2) Its designed to have people who can afford to pay more subsidizes the purchasers of the lower end models. Yes they make a profit, but the purpose is to have a lower PM product for volume and and higher PM product for the higher end.
@sloppynyuszi
@sloppynyuszi 2 жыл бұрын
@@robertt9342 well the accessories do make the price difference seem artificially smaller. If you buying an iPad Air, and on top of that you buy the $350 dollar keyboard and the $130 pencil. The $200 price difference doesn’t seem that big and the upgrade seems more of a value. Especially if you were eyeing the 256gb. Even entry level iPad if you buy the keyboard I think it’s $150, and the pencil is $100. At $580 you might be asking what’s better, the laminated modern design of the Air with a better chip and sacrifice the keyboard or is the keyboard that important? Maybe we may not agree on why, but I think we both agree that Apple has their price structure really well thought out. I wouldn’t mind a secondary iPad for lighter work and play, but if I want it I need to spend similar amount of money. For the mini I can just use my pencil from the pro, and it will cost me $499, but if I want the entry level one, it’s $329, but I need to buy the other pencil and that’s an extra $100 and general inconvenience. And that $60 saving isn’t much to push one towards it.

I just use it for streaming, skype/messenger/facetime and browsing and it fulfills my needs. I never notice any slowdown and battery life is heaven. My kids are still using an ipad 1st gen and it keeps ticking. I expect this one to last a long long time.

I was finally able to get one shipped from target but as far as picking up or buying online from other places were all sold out from one day to the next. I agree. I am not an Apple fan at all. My wife loves Apple. I bought two Gen 9 iPads 64 gigabytes. I figured I would become familiar with the OS in case she needed help with it. I have enjoyed using it. It is a good machine with the ability to be very robust. Don’t know if it will make me a convert from Android, ChromeOS, and Linux/Unix. However, I am impressed how well an entry level apple device performs.

I do think this, together with the M1 MacBook Air, is the best overall product Apple makes. I just replaced my Mini 5 with an iPad Pro I got for personal use as a benefit from my company, but if not, I’d really consider this - and if I would consider the 9 (even though I’d probably have waited for an updated Air), then it’s a stellar device for somebody like my dad, as you mentioned, as this is such a well rounded package.

The upgraded chip is definitely nicer for running a games like cod mobile. The price is also great ! I don’t need the fancy camera since I have a 13pro max for that. If I could have one thing, USB C would be nice but other than that it’s perfect for me.

iPad 9 is absolutely one of the best deals in tech right now. It’s very capable and I’d recommend it to anyone. However, even though my institution gave me one to use which I have around it just isn’t for me, I use a 12.9” M1 iPad Pro + Magic Keyboard which allows me to leave my laptop at home because of better screen real estate, comparative typing experience, and memory storage. I’d say buy the iPad 9 or iPad Air unless you absolutely know that you would get more use out of the pro as is my situation.

@Water Jogger Do you disagree? All I’m saying is that the base models are great but some people like me need more power and should get more power. I’m in medicine and I can do everything on my iPad Pro that need to do. I’m also an engineer and in the past have absolutely needed a laptop for engineering purposes and software. It is all a use-case question. But if you don’t have the use case for really expensive stuff the base models work great.

I have had every model of iPad since they first came out, I have upgraded every time a new model was released. I’ve been computer free since I got onto iPad. Recently I had the 2020 12.9” iPad Pro wi-fi cellular 512 GB and I watched all the videos about the 2021 model with the M1 chip, so I upgraded to the 2021 12.9 “ wi-fi cellular iPad Pro 1 TB after hearing how great it was going to be. I have never been more disappointed, the screen resolution wasn’t that much better and the speed was not noticeably faster, I bought the magic keyboard with it so I spent over $2000, and what I’ve finally had to come to terms with is that iPad is never going to give me a true pro experience as long as the apps created are still geared toward the basic iPad user. I’m a professional so I expect pro features, I got this version because I wanted to start filming, editing and uploading KZfaq videos. But that’s still just not going to happen. Apple wants me to have a MacBook in order to use pro apps and I don’t want a MacBook. I like the iPad experience, it’s so much more user friendly, but it is lacking on the app side, even the built in apps are lacking. I keep believing that Apple is going to come out with a version of iOS that really takes the pro models to the next level and I am deeply disappointed and ready to just say goodbye to Apple and get a tablet that actually does have pro features. I feel as though I have been deceived by the reviewers and by Apple and think it is a disservice to the consumer to add the word pro to the device when it is just not a pro device. It’s a waste of space and a waste of the M1 chip when the iPad itself is never going to be advanced enough for the M1 chip to be worthwhile. It’s like putting a V8 engine in an old Volkswagen and driving in a 35 mile an hour lane. You have all this power but Apple is not going to let you see what it can really do. I wouldn’t have even bought the magic keyboard had everyone been honest about the fact that it doesn’t have a row of function keys and although it looks like you have now created a MacBook, you are still just an iPad user, and Apple doesn’t take iPad users seriously. I can see how the company made 1.8 billion dollars in profit last year, it’s by getting people to buy so many devices and not really spending anything on improving the user experience. I might as well have the most basic iPad because that is who the iPad market is focused on. Stop calling things pro if they are not for professionals it’s very deceiving and just a gimmick to get you to waste your money on something that doesn’t live up to the Apple brand experience. I’m supposed to have the best product in the market and it’s not. Not until they create a ipadPro iOS App Store that focuses on giving pro users the apps they deserve. I’m tired of downloading app after app only to find out they have in app purchases , monthly fees, ads and you need to get 5 apps to do a project. The whole market is basically game based and I’m not a gamer, I’m an artist and I writer and want feature rich apps that a pro could be excited about. Just having the age 4+ category on the apps shows how ridiculous the apps are, and when you finally get a good one they stop updating it and it becomes unsupported, it’s just so frustrating that I could cry.

I'm a student and photographer. I have a MacBook Pro, iPhone 13 pro and a 2014 Mac Mini and I just ordered the iPad 9 (it should be called, "classic"). It seems like a bit of overkill to add a tablet to my set up, but I got it because a lot of my textbooks have moved online. Sometimes I wanna mark up on it or sit on a chair and read my textbook for a bit, away from a desk. OR when I'm at school away from my second display, and would like my textbook open AS I write my notes in my MacBook Pro. Would I loved a iPad air? YES, but 1. Money and two, I have already a MacBook Pro that's very capable. IF I got the Air, I think it would have been overkill for just mark up, web browsing and streaming. I believe the iPad 9 is a FANTASTIC buy, it'll do tablet stuff for someone who wants just a tablet or as a companion to a set up. Also I just retired my iPad Mini 2 in 2020, so longevity is definitely a plus with iPads, I had a Nexus WAY BACK THEN, and that thing "lasted" only a year and a half.

@@konstantinosch.3319 In reality, I'm fine with it. Of course I notice the big differences, screen quality, but after a few weeks, the differences just melted away. If you're on a budget and just want a tablet to do simple things, I still recommend the 9th iPad.

I bought the iPad 6 in 2018 and I'm basically just waiting for a redesign before I upgrade. I know the year after it was "kinda" redesigned with a bigger screen but that was it. I want better speakers and some other upgrades so I'm going to wait for either an all screen design, or at least the iPad Air 3 design

Good video but if the gen 9 could support the gen 2 pencil i would have bought it. Don't want an old clumsy gen 1 pencil so use. Have hade both the 12.9 m1 and also the 11 m1 and returned them both just beacuse it's still just an iPad. My needs are a good front facing camera, support gen 2 pencil and good battery and a magic keyboard is a plus but not a must.

I bought the IPad last year in September and it generally works fine for me. I bought it so I could use it every day in school (8h per day), but I kind of regret that I didn’t buy the iPad Air, because sometimes if I want to write something very fast or I want to correct a word very quick and precisely, the pencil isn’t always hitting the exact spot (so my font looks bad) because of the non-laminated display. So I think if you’re really on a budget and you don’t want to spend too much, you should go with the iPad 9. But if u want to use the iPad like me every day in school, you have the money for the iPad Air and you want to use your iPad the next few years I would go with the iPad Air. The Apple Pencil 2nd generation also feels better and you have some other advantages with the iPad Air as well.

You should have either bought the Pro, but if you couldn't, the iPad 9 is honestly a better value. The Air is too close to the iPad Pro's price while missing too many features and having half of the base storage...

@@cameronbosch1213 um i dont think that the ipad air lacks much of the ipad pro features…. The most visible and notable differences should be the two extra speakers and 120 hz screen, otherwise they’re mostly the same imo.

@@jonathanhohaoguang9157 The price though isn't much better for what you lose though. And it's only $200 more for honestly tangible features. If the Air was $50 - $100 cheaper and/or came with 128 GB of storage standard, then maybe I'd change my mind.

i watched many videos this week about ipad , its crazy how different the reviews are for gen 8 and gen 9. The value u are getting from ipad 9 made me to switch from android tablets for the 1st time. I dont know why but the android tablets become so slow and with lags after 2 years , and at this point the xiaomi tab 5 have the same price with the ipad 9 , and the s7+ is more expensive by 20% for 15% less or same performance. I have the ipad9 for 2-3 days now and change m every day life. The multitasking and office jobs are so smooth like u have a laptop with u. i wish apple release some iphones and mac's with the same value in the future . Especially with phones is hard to most ppl to spend 1000$ for a phone that will u change in a year or 2 cause lets be honest u have a phone with u 24x7 its not the lack of updates that make u to change phone but the physical dmg u cause to it over time. So in m case i prefer to spend 1000$ in 4-6 years for 4 different midrange phones.

I love ipad so much. Even so, i found a hiccup on my work as I can't complete my lab report on Microsoft Word.a It appears when I want to insert complicated scientific equation as the scientific icons are so limited unlike in PC's or Laptop's Word. The thing I really love is experience during taking notes. I've tried a bundle of apps, free and subscription based to take note. Apple note is good but not compatible with my tasks as university students. So, i just used it to jote simple notes
