Sigmas are great, I have a couple of montolit cutters for dry cuts. Real time saver and I’ll use them for every possible cut I can however a wet saw is completely necessary, there are many brands of porcelain and ceramic tile that don’t dry cut well. Often soft bodied tile don’t cut as clean as I’d like with the dry cutter (sigma or montolit) and I have to use a wet saw for any visible edges. Some do, but often they won’t. Also, some porcelain tiles break very erratically, seems like there’s tension in the tile body that comes into play. My grinder, tile saw, and dry cutter all get used on nearly every job.

I got in touch with some good people in the U.K. and got a way better deal than I would have gotten here. I continue to order from over the pond. I have a lot confidence in sigma

I bought the same cutter after having a Rubi for the last 12 years. I HATED it until I watched your last video on the Max handle. I bought the max. It was absolutely game changing in terms of how consistently good the cuts became and how little effort it took to make them. It made the sigma as consistent as my Rubis but with the added bonus of being able to cut thinner slices. Thanks for your videos.

Great video this is what I always believed. A good grinder and Sigma cutter is the way to go. Way faster than a wet saw. I have a baby Sigma for doing subway/small tile. It is so slick.

My tile has light ridges on the face of the tile about 1/32 of an inch in height on the face of the tile. Can I still use a tile cutter?

At a high level of tile setting you will always need a saw, there are jobs you can only use manual cutters and grinders but not on super detailed intricate tile job. I’ve heard this argument for years.

Found out the hard way today that even a Sigma won't cut certain types of tiles. I did some tests with ceramic tiles and the Sigma was performing well. Then I tried it with a small clay body tile (same thickness as the ceramic) and the tile would not cut no matter how hard I scored or pressed. Very disappointed and now need to look for a decent wet saw.

I have the same model and step above I love them. However on certain types of tile it will not always achieve a straight line. I’m on 12x24 and for whatever reason I would lose too much in scrap. I think the higher end large tile the sigma is the only way to go.

If I'm paying $800 for a tile cutter, it better cut them perfectly straight! If I have to measure and mark and line-up both sides of the tile on every cut, I'll use a $100 Amazon LFT cutter.

What gloves do you use when tiling and grouting walls? Say 6 x 4 inches? Thanks

Have you got the handle installed the wrong way around? Aren't you supposed to push the cutter handle toward the fence?

I have stone tiles to cut. I take it sigmas a better choice over rubi.

So wrong why using grinder to cut if u have the sigma cutter the different between these two is the cut with the sigma cutter is so much cleaner it won't brake little parts of the line the same thing is with sigma wet saw in a straight line it will brake a little bit off but nothing like using the grinder so the question is why professional almost never use grinder except taking square cut in middle of the tile is becouse the cut is much more smoother and it will not brake up against the cut that's wy we are called professional. Using grinder in a straight line to cut a tile will never be as clean cut as using sigma cutter
