You've NEVER Played RTS Strategy Like THIS! Line War Review

Welcome back to the channel, my friends, and today we're checking out a little gem that just released on Steam over the weekend! Line War is a brand new RTS strategy game that does something completely different. Instead of clicking and micromanaging individual units in a battle of highest APM, Line War has you move your units by drawing lines of attack. This is an extremely interesting concept, and you'll hear what I think in this video. I'll provide some Line War gameplay and show you exactly why this game has quickly become one of my favorite and most addicting RTS strategy games of 2022. Remember that this is a Steam early access title, so expect changes and improvements in the coming months and possibly years.

I love simple RTS concepts like these! Mushroom Wars is another good one, that's just about capturing enemy bases by sending more attacking mushrooms than there are defending mushrooms, but then you can use timing, fake attacks, put enemies up against each other etc, etc, to get ahead. Definitely understand the comparison to Rocket League.

Exactly, it’s really fun and addicting with something this lightweight, but which actually offers some fun strategy and demands some knowledge of what’s needed at a given time :)

Idk if I would call the traditional RTS unit control method “archaic,” more “different,” but this game looks really neat, thanks for the good review!

Why thought, it's fantastic. You can train yourself in the sandbox mode, but PvP is really where it's at. I'd recommend getting it and trying, and then get a refund if you dont like it :)

yeah an rts without Ai at launch is a bad move i played the demo and playing against yourself is like playing a tutorial cause you can try stuff out it does not replace Ai. im not getting the game till they add Ai hopefully they dont take to long or im gonna forget about this game

Okay i know i'm going to look crazy recommending this but. This game mechanics is almost identical to a game on steam called "Multiwinia" a game that released back in 2008 I think. I'm pretty sure the only players that have played Multiwinia in the past decade have been just my friends and I but i really really love it. This game looks exactly like it.

@@AndysTake yeah after looking the game on Steam Charts game's all time peak was when I bought the game for 5 of my friends.... So perhaps no one knows of it lol. Anyway IF YOU LIKE LINE WAR PLAY MULTIWINIA!!!!!! 😂

@@AndysTake Like I said, and no kidding. I immensely enjoy Multiwinia, to the point where ive prob spent $50 on it in copies to buy for friends... Only downside is it appears to be a small multiplayer scene... for some reason 🤔

Fantastic indie pvp strategy game to play with friends and strangers. Even though it might be quite rough around the edges and not too complex, the 2 man dev team did an amazing job creating a new strategy experience that will hopefully be copied and refined by bigger companies in the future.

this reminds me of rise of nations (modern era) in a more modern streamlined way. Is there any offline ai ?

No there’s no offline AI just yet, but it’s planned in the future. There is only an offline sandbox mode where you can try things out against yourself, so to speak. But the multiplayer is really fun!

would strongly recommend revisiting this game if you ever read this comment, as the game has undergone numerous balance changes as well as UI upgrades, team games (and a lobby system), and recently AI finally got added. AI increased player count from rarely over 20 to easily 60-100

Nice concept but this is why RTS genre is almost dead. Focus on multiplayer over singleplayer is a recurring mistake in this genre especially for indie games where the playerbase will be small to begin with.

That’s true in many cases, but this is a completely different type of game targeting different people/different needs. AoE/Total War SHOULD have a great single player experience. Line War doesn’t need to, in my opinion, it’s not the same type of game. It’s a game for small bursts of fun and excitement
