Sometimes if we’re done eating and waiting on the check and my 1 year old is losing her mind, I’ll absolutely put it on Ms. Rachel or cocomelon until we can leave. I know people might judge me but I don’t care.. it’s worth the 10 min of peace 😂

From what I’ve learnt in marketing, the fast paced music in restaurants has been proven to make people eat quicker, and will ultimately drive higher traffic in the restaurant leading to more sales. But I do agree, it’s becoming more common to feel like you’re eating in a club! 🙃

My take on “iPad kids” at a restaurant… as a mom of 2 toddlers (4&2) sometimes we HAVE to bring out a phone(with no sound on for a KZfaq video) and put a show on, in order for our kids to calm down and relax to not bother other people in the restaurant… it’s a feeling of not wanting to be embarrassed just cause our kids are being kids, and just trying to be respectful towards everyone else. 🥺🥺

You don’t, you can bring toys and coloring books. Our parents brought us out to dinner without iPads, you can too. Being embarrassed is better than rotting your kids brain with an iPad.

Before iPads, kids were taught to behave. Kids not being comfortable or calm in public without an iPad is more embarrassing than an occasional meltdown.

i do get bringing it on occasion, i’m not a parent so i can’t imagine how exhausting it can be and im sure there are times it would be nice to eat a meal in public with few disruptions. but i do think it’s really important to teach kids how to behave without technology as well

I love watching 4 people without kids telling other's how they should act with their children. They do have very valid points, but they're also situational 😂 I had grand plans of the parent I was going to be, before i met my child with a personality of their own and not one i imagined they would be. My child is well-behaved, but he is a whole person with his own ways. I hope that makes sense. I dont mean this as a jab, just a point as a parent.

I just graduated this year from high school in Ohio - my school started at 7:15, ended at 2:05, and we had a strict no phones out policy.. of course depending on the teacher lol. i work in schools and when you’re very little participation awards are for learning that effort should be rewarded& that it’s worth it to try, so they dont immediately want to quit something, it doesnt mean you wont learn what losing is but even IF you lost, your team working together was worth it and contrary to popular belief, they don’t expect it as they get older

If you don’t have kids you don’t get to have an opinion on iPads and kids. Or really much that deals with parenting. I said I wouldn’t do a lot and judged a lot before I had kids. And now I get it. My kid isn’t an iPad kid but I get it. Sometimes you’ll do anything to enjoy a moment of peace. There is no village like there once was.

The whole perfect attendance thing was not because I wanted it. My parents are immigrants and school was their number one priority for my siblings and I. So unless I was literally on deaths bed I was going to school. There were multiple times where I would be sick and throw up or have a fever and they would call my parents to take me home. That was the only reason I would miss school
