We've had some incredible results from the first part of this collection that I and Treasure Town were entrusted with, so when I got the call that the remainder was available and hoping to go through my services, I was thrilled at the opportunity for three new videos - and this is the first of those. You're going to be blown away by the quality of these items, which were assembled prior to the 1950s and preserved in these paper flips for over 70 years. What coins do you think are the best out of this group?? Looking forward to doing a follow up once everything has finished up.

I paused the video at 1:27 to say this: The three part video of the first box that came into your possession was one of the main motivators and reasons I began coin collecting. They are some of my all time favorite videos in relation to this silver and gold hobby and I cannot wait to watch what I can only assume is another 3 part video. Thank you so much for these videos and sharing this consignment! And thank you to the original collector who is responsible for this amazing hoard and the family for getting in touch with you! Amazing collection and amazing videos, definitely a once in a lifetime time kind of find and we the growers get to experience with you. Beyond excited!

Thank you so much for that comment! I try to read them as much as possible and often miss some, but ones like these are super encouraging in terms of continuing to put out content! I will relay the comment - and hopefully this (and a few similar) collections can snowball so I can have vids like this every week!!

it makes me so mad that coin dealer that bought the first box for $800 would feel good about when they did. I have been collecting coins for about 9 years and have come across a few crocked dealers. It's good to get to know the dealers in your area and the collectors.

Both the seller and buyer are responsible to do their own research. If one is knowledgeable and the other is not, they are at a great disadvantage. Maybe the coin shop owner didn't know what they were worth. A lot of them don't deal with foreign coins outside of the usual bullion ,canadian junk and mexican pesos. If he didn't take it to a shop that specializes in old foreign coins then that was also a mistake on the sellers part. Today there is no excuse, everyone with a cell phone has access to apps that will search anything you take a picture of and give you links to historical and price data.

I've never seen so many coins in a video which I've only seen in photos from a catalogue. Did the executor or administrator of the estate have any reaction about the first box of coins they sold for $800 when one of the coins you handled from the second box realized $6,000? I don't collect these type of coins; I'm just amazed at the number of and the condition of the coins is this collection.
@TreasureTownCoins
@TreasureTownCoins 7 ай бұрын
It was incredible to behold. The executor was quite disappointed - without giving too much information, someone who had authority over the items but not the knowledge had made the error. I may be being overconfident, but by structuring the transaction in the manner I did, I believe that the estate will realize far more than they would have by selling outright even to a world coin dealer - auction was the way to go here - and so the overall result isn't so bad (though I shudder at the thought of a row of the first box being all Chinese coins)

Totally! Excited to deliver fun results and show everyone an EPIC collection - I bet the collector (who was an adult in the early 50s) had no idea that ~100K+ would be able to appreciate the assortment that he had put together.

The dealer who bought a box of these for $800 should be frickin embarrassed to even call themselves a "dealer". Even if they weren't very knowledgeable about the coins offered, they knew darn well they were robbing the people blind. Thanks you for stepping in and helping the family and the hobby in general.

I have a few of these early early really cool coin, I wonder if any were used in the US at one time as a one world currency like The Spanish eight reales? They are amazing and about the same size as a silver dollar... Some are larger and all are silver... One I have for example is an Austrian thaler in beautiful condition dated 1601... It's huge.. About at least 40-42 mm.

Is there a comprehensive book available that might have all the information as to the individual countries , what currencies they use, and what those currencies look like. I am in the beginning stages of looking for foreign currencies and am hoping a book like that would help me. Thanks in advance for any info that might help me learn.

Very nice, the Napoleonic coins were cool. Joseph was made king of Spain for a time and I think Marshal Murat married Napoleon’s sister. Interesting that they seem to be in the same fashion as French coins under Napoleon. ---Also, all these coins are well struck with prominent designs. It kills me that today’s coins with modern technology have just a slight impression to save a country .05% on production. Good money should look respectable.

@@TreasureTownCoins Definitely learned a lot more about the Holy Roman Empire into the German Empire. It's fall after World War 1 into the Weimar Republic, and finally the Third Reich. I've learned more about the British Monarchy in the history of Canada. A lot of things Americans can't really say they've learned in world history. I can say that I've learned how to read Arabic and Asian numerals by trying to find the years on coins
