"Something to Tide You Over" scared me as a kid the most. My mom as a huge Cheers fan and I loved The Naked Gun, and I went to the beach a lot with my mom growing up. Always kept an eye out for a mean spirited Frank Drebin taunting a drowning Sam Malone. My dream is also to go to a Stephen King book signing and just yell "METEOR SHIT!" when I'm next in line.

Fact 1: the monster in the Crate was nicknamed Fluffy. Fact 2: Tom Savini did the makeup for the original movie. He also played the trashman complaining about the order form being cut out. Fact 3: the Television print usually leaves out "There Creaping Up On You".

"The Crate" and "Something to Tide You Over" are my two favorites... (sort of a 1A and 1B situation). Funny fact: while filming, Ted Danson's kids were there. He was in the "zombie" make up and looking all scary and his kids went up and said "oh, hi daddy." and hugged him (recognizing him immediately) and weren't scared of the makeup :D

"Well I'll be dipped in dog sh*t" is the punchline to a Fat Freddy's Cat cartoon from the 70s by Gilbert Shelton. Fairly well known in the underground hippie culture, basically it's what not to say upon finding a magic amulet that grants you one wish..

"Is it like MAD Magazine?" Mrs. Movies made a deep cut reference as the Creepshow movies and comics are heavily inspired by the 1950s iteration of the Tales from the Crypt comics. About 20 years later the same dude who created Tales from the Crypt resurfaced and founded MAD Magazine. This means Madtv and Tales from the Crypt are siblings. Good one, Mrs. Movies!

I actuallly researched the "could you dig yourself out of sand" in part because of this movie! The popular conclusion is that it kills you by crushing suffocation loooong before you make progress getting out. Every time you inhale, the sand fills in the space until you have no room to inhale. I imagine wet sand would be worse because of the added weight. Thanks for the great reaction!!

Creepshow 2 only has three stories in it, but there was supposed to be two more, both adaptations from Stephen King. One was called "Cat From Hell", but was removed for being too gruesome, but was put into Tales From The Darkside The Movie (what fans call the REAL Creepshow 3). Another story, "Pinfall", was also scrapped from the project, but was given a comic adaptation as a bonus for the Creepshow 2 limited edition Blu-Ray by Arrow Video.

What really bothers me about that story is a lot of these stories have a bad person getting punished yet the guy in that story was just some random guy out in the country who's only real crime is he's not bright. I know King looks down on a lot of people out in the country as being ignorant but damn man even in his own novels not everyone in the country is like that, lot of them look down on people like that in his own novels cause it makes the rest of them look bad.

It has been one of my favorite movies since 1986. I saw it at the age of 5 and watch it regularly. In fact, my wife and I watch it maybe a dozen times every few months. Sometimes back to back, like letting it play non stop. Christmas 2004 I was alone with about a gallon of bourbon. It played about 15 times through the night and the next day. I drank so much that I became sober the more I drank. Then I looked at the TV and was like, "haven't I watched this already. Then I found out nearly two days had gone by. What a time.

Tales from the Crypt had a 70's anthology movie PRIOR to Tales from the Darkside show, this, and before the show of the 90's. The interruptions are an interesting part of the show, haha, my own daughters do the same when I'm working.

Actually, there are three Creepshow movies. My former roommate had all three, I believe in a box set (I might be wrong about the box set; he may have just had them individually). And as for the tv show, I don’t remember a tv show, but a close neighbor would be Tales From The Crypt, which ran for about 4 or 5 seasons on HBO. Just an fyi 😊😊😊

@ 31:49 it’s a cobweb duster/getter type thing. You can clean ceiling fan blades and get in corners with them. They were sold a lot in the 80’s.

The monster in the crate scared the absolute crap out of me as a kid. I loved the one with the cockroaches though lol

You probably know this now, but the kid is Joel King, son of Steven King, who became a horror writer under the name Joel Hill. Some of Joel Hill's stories were adapted for the Creepshow television series, along with his father.

I wonder whatever happened to "Fluffy" the crate monster? I mean the actual puppet/costume used for the show (and the actual crate too).
