Fun fact in the original raft story the creature was described as looking like an oil slick. The colors is what drew Rachel in as it hypnotized her. So it’s kinda funny why they made it look so ugly in the movie.

Apparently there were all kinds of behind-the-scenes issues creating the floating blob, and what ended up in the movie was not what they originally intended, but more of a last-minute solution. The special features and commentary tracks on Creepshow 2 go into it for a decent amount of time. I guess it was one of the bigger hiccups in production.

This was the first horror movie I ever watch, at age 7 with my mom who was a big Stephen King fan. The end of "the hitchhiker", that you blurred, was the only thing that truly scared the hell out of me. I remember my mom covering my eyes at the nude scenes in the theater. My love for movies came from her, she used to work 2 jobs when I was little, so when we first got a vcr, she taught me how record movies from HBO during the mid 80s while she was at work. We also lived in an apartment across the street from a movie theater so once every 2 or so weeks we go see a movie. She passed away when I was 9, but I'll always remember her love for movies, especially horror movies, and Stephen King. Always with love.

Thalassaphobia (fear of deep/dark water) is fairly common. Really plays on that fear of the unknown and unseen that could be lurking below, and your imagination running wild. A lot of people remember the water-thing one the most. I sure did. Same for anyone I mention the movie to, "is that the one with the thing in the water and the raft?" 😊

Apparently, the Tales From the Dark side series was originally created to be a Creep show series but there were some issues getting it off the ground with the original rights owners so they pitched the series to another network under a different name. So, that's why TFtDS the move is pretty much Creepshow 3

I kind of liked the atmosphere in Creepshow 2 in that it kind of followed the same structure as the the old(and new) Creepy Comics. Creepshow 2 had 'The Creep' introducing each story just like Creepy Comics had 'Uncle Creepy'. Man I miss those comics and this (Creepshow 2) is the closest to a rendition of those comics I've found on the big screen! Love it!

A lake I used to go to as a child had this weird 'filmy' stuff that floated just like that thing in the The Raft. Watching Creepshow 1&2 is a tradition on Halloween, here. The first movie is a classic, but this one has its moments even if its not AS classic. The Chief Woodn'head segment is my favorite, mostly because of the statue costume and how believably stiff and creepy the actor's movements become in it. Plus who doesn't like to see a bunch of punks get owned by the supernatural?

The Car in Chief Woodenhead was a 1978 Pontiac firebird, eerily enough the silhouette of chief wooden head after the one kill was reminiscent of the old Pontiac logo which was the head of a native American. The car in the Raft is a 1975 Chevrolet Camaro. Both cars are made from the platform but have different fascia and rear ends

I still prefer the 1st movie and the 1st movie is one of my all time favorite movies! What's disappointing with the 2nd movie is that it's only 3 stories, which is common with anthology movies and it makes sense because of run-time, but if the 1st movie could successfully have 5 stories in it why not this movie as well?! Hell, even Twilight Zone: The Movie had 4 stories in it! But this one still have some really good anthology stories and the practical effects are great, and the 2nd movie is at least better than the so called "3rd movie" - I'm serious, Creepshow 3 IS FAR, FAR OFF from being a Creepshow movie and only uses the title for attracting audience, it's not a real Creepshow movie at all! It's more like Trick R' Treat, but much worse and horribly made! SKIP THAT ONE and watch Tales From The Darkside: The Movie instead! Watch the Creepshow TV-Show instead, which is definitely more worth to the name than the 3rd movie!

Did the Mrs really not get that in The Raft, Randy was basically molesting Laverne (and had it not been for the thing, he probably would’ve done the R word to her, too)? His intention was never to feed her to the thing and use it as an escape. This was something I figured out even as a kid watching a heavily censored version on tv lol. And I did also read the short story and it’s way more spelled out in that.

If you think the Raft was freaky, you need to watch the 1988 version of The Blob

If they did Cat from Hell instead of O’l Chief Woodenhead as the first story, it would have been really good movie. But I guess two out of three ain’t bad.

If you like synthy horror movie theme music you should check out Night of the Demons, which along with being a really fun movie in general, has one of the greatest opening themes (with fun animation) ever.

I purchased the “ Arrow “ Blu Ray release. You’re not going to find better quality anywhere else for it . It’s got plenty of extra features also . Almost as anything good from “ Scream Factory “

I'm shocked neither of you realized the store-owner for the first segment is Ed, the Captain in "Naked Gun" And another good anthology horror movie series is V/H/S - namely 1 and 2. Viral is forgettable, though '94 has its moments.

Check out House, 1985, with William Katt, if you haven't already. Great comedy/horror flick!
