I was amazed when she threw out the "does she know that her parents collect black people?" haha. pretty sure she was half joking but it definitely says something about her intuition, and also how well the film is made. the acting and writing give some very good clues, yet many people including myself don't put most of the story together until halfway or further into the film. what an incredible balance he found with his first film, it's just mastery

This is a morbid piece of trivia, but when Chris is picking the cotton from the recliner, its the very thing that helps him in the end. In a way its an inverting of our awful past History. Tons of symbolism in the film, makes it really rewarding with multiple viewings. Really excited for Nope!

Wow, I never caught this. Jordan Peele is a genius.

Another piece of symbolism is the encounter with the deer. Another name for a deer is a buck. Buck was also a racial slur in post-Reconstruction America used to describe black men that refused to bend to the law of white authority and were seen as irredeemably violent. When the police officer arrives, neither he or Rose is concerned in the slightest about the deer that lays dying on the side of the road. It's a premonition. At this point, Chris (the 'buck') is on his own...
@spook4597
@spook4597 2 жыл бұрын
@@dawb86 I wasn't aware of that term so thank you for sharing that. I may be entirely off the mark, but I suppose that Peele also intended for Chris' killing of the father to be symbolic as well. The "buck" kills his oppressor with an actual buck by not doing what the deer did in the beginning which was lay down and die like a deer wounded during a hunt would be expected to do. What do you think?
@dawb86
@dawb86 2 жыл бұрын

@@dawb86 I did forget about that. I'm also realizing now that Chris wasn't a violent person and it was the family's attempt to deny his identity/autonomy that ultimately made him behave in that way. They were the architects of their own downfall. I agree that it should be apart of a film school curriculum.

28:09 I mean let's be _honest,_ here. When I saw this scene, I thought Rod was kind of ridiculous, but be that as it may, he just told this woman that he has a lead on someone who's been _missing for six months._ He has the guy's _name,_ he has a recent _photo,_ and he knows where his friend _went,_ so he knows where the guy probably _is._ Why the hell is she not moving on _that_ at least?

Daniel Kalluya is a great actor. If you enjoyed his performance in this then I highly recommend you watch an episode of a UK series called "Black Mirror". The episode he is in is called "Fifteen Million Merits". Might be worth doing the whole lot if you like dark and mind bending shows but certainly Daniel's performance in the one episode is fantastic. The first episode might not be as impactful if you are not familiar with UK current affairs but they all, like the series title suggests, look at the state of society today with a somewhat cynical and nihilistic view. Please react to "Fifteen Million Merits" at least!!!

Amazing! I have never in the entire existence of this movie, see someone guess the twist at the end of this film. Well done, you. The whole cinema was holding their breath through the entire end scene. Then applause. Great film.

The scariest moment in the movie is when you see the police car drive up. Before, you could stick this in a corner of your mind for scary movies. That moment made me dread I was watching ANOTHER Police Killing. Alison William's smile when she sees the flashing lights is the most tension-filled moment of the movie.

Your reaction to this made me hit the subscribe button.. Awesome review!! The Max is she still living single line did it for me 😂 💀 you guys have a new fan!! The moment she had him stuck and said "Sink into the floor" he says "WAIT,WAIT,WAIT" and she says "SINK!" that tone change in her voice was the highlight for me

Lots of little details hidden in this movie. The “black mold” in the basement, picking cotton from the chair to save his life, so many little things.

Not to mention the scar around "grandpa"'s head after the surgery, which explains why the other guy who screams "get out" was always wearing a hat.

My two favorite easter egg details are when Chris has to literally pick cotton (from the chair) in order to plug his ears and escape AND when Rose is eating the colored cereal that's been separated from the white milk. Jordan Peele is just too much. 🤩🤯

You have to watch the alternate ending to Get Out on KZfaq...what a downer. Also, glad for Peele from being a later season cast member of the underrated MadTV to writing/directing/producing his movies & that twilight zone reboot. Great Reactions BTW!

Honestly, Get Out is one of the best directorial debuts I've seen in ages... Obviously Jordan Peele spent his entire on-screen career paying attention to all the little details that go into getting the right shot to tell the story in the right way, instead of just collecting a paycheck. You don't come out with a debut like that without spending years as a sponge absorbing everything you can about filmmaking.
