The sax player was the late Clarence Clemons, one of the GOATS. Springsteen's E Street Band was with him the whole time. Including the great Nils Lofgren. Thanks for reacting to this. Wonderful!

If I’m not mistaken the drummer later on went to be part of “The Conan O’Brien show”. Forget his name. Also, wasn’t “American Idol’s” Randy Jackson part of Bruce’s Band too? Courtney Cox for sure, discovered here. I was always a Seinfeld fan myself

Actually this song came out well after Born To Run; he was older here. He’s just FINE and gets better with age. They don’t call him The Boss for nothing; he is a true living legend, who is still going strong. Great reaction. That is Courtney Cox.

You are correct about the time frame in regard to the albums, however the Born To Run video was live footage taken from all over the world while on his Born In The USA tour in 84-85…..so he’s about the same age as this video (shot in St. Paul, MN - the 1st stop of that tour).

@@kimtalley4496 Maybe some stubble, at most. He may look younger due to the lighting, production and wardrobe. Dancing In The Dark was shot specifically for a music video (hence Courtney Cox as "the fan" being pulled from the crowd). The Born To Run video was from pieced together tour footage taken on the Born In The USA tour and released in conjunction with his boxed set Live 1975-85.

This is Bruce in 1985 during the Born In The USA tour. The Sax player is the late great Clarence Clemons. The girl in the audience is Courtney Cox.

His band is called The E Street Band. The black guy was Clarence Clemons, one of the best sax players ever. He died in 2011, and he was from my home state of Virginia. Also in the band is Steven Van Zandt, one of the stars of the TV show The Sopranos. He played Silvio Dante on that show.

I was devastated when I heard Clarence died. He was an amazing and talented musician. I saw them in 1985 perform and Clarence came out dressed as Santa and Bruce did his version of Santa Clause is coming to town. Such an amazing concert that was, will never forget it. Even scalpel tickets to the show the next day at Giant Stadium in NJ

@@debraricciardi2958 I saw The Big Man in 2002 and 2008. In 2008 you could see that he was in a great deal of pain, but, he kept up as much as he could. They had a special throne for him on stage so he could rest. Then in 2012, the band had a tribute to him during the concert.

Thar "black guy" is The Big Man, Clarence Clemons, who was closer to Bruce that a brother and started with him in 1972, on through to his way-too-early death in 2011. Bruce's concerts were an endurance run - usually 4 hours of non-stop high energy that left you dazed, exhausted, and wondering what the hell just happened! :)

Yes indeed...saw them in their Born in the USA tour and the show was almost 4 1/2 hours with a 20-minute break where John (Cougar then) Mellencamp filed in!!!

God I love this song. Apparently they wouldn’t let him have his guitar when they filmed this video because they wanted him to dance, so he was super self conscious. It’s amazing then that he has such great rhythm and that he’s really got the moves!

The E Street Band is legendary. Clarence Clemons, the saxophone player, had a cameo in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Max Weinberg, the drummer, led his own band on Late Night With Conan O'Brien. And Steven Van Zandt, the guitarist, had a regular role on The Sopranos. p.s. yes, that is Courtney Cox.

Clarence Clemons also was in Fatal Instinct w/ Armand Assante. I believe that it's very funny and recommend that if you love stupidly funny movies that you check it out.

Steven Van Zandt was gone from the band by the time this video was made. The guitarist you're seeing there in the background is his replacement, Nils Lofgren. And yes, that is Courtney Cox.

STREETS OF PHILADELPHIA is a very moving and haunting song of his , and was the theme song for the movie Philadelphia starring Tom Hanks about AIDS .it came out in 1994 . Bruce won an academy award for the song for the movie and spoke out strongly , supporting people with AIDS back when it was it was a risk to do so. In this case I would say the official video is probably going to be better than a live performance.

Hardest working band in the world. 4-5 hour concerts from him and the E Street Band. Clarence Clemons, the Saxophonist, is simply the man. Unfortunately we lost this big, beautiful man exactly on this date a decade ago. He was my inspiration to take up the sax as a kid. May he rest in peace.

Ashley the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers, Phish All played for hours! The Phish Y2K concert they started playing at midnight and played till 7 AM nonstop. And that was a three day festival where they played two different times. It was on an Indian reservation in South Florida. Big Cypress. 110,000 people sex drugs and rock ‘n’ roll and no cops. They had a few reservation police that rode these enormous quarter horses and they came through the camping area a few times a day just to let people know if they were there if somebody needed anything. But they never interfered or bothering anyone. And there was no need for any police. Try that at all hard rock or heavy-metal concert! LOL you would have fights at those concerts with 10 people much less 110,000 people.

You should check out “I’m on Fire.” It’s a very sultry Bruce Springsteen. “Streets of Philadelphia” is another good one, which he wrote for the film “Philadelphia”.

I don't like "I'm on Fire" "Hey, little girl, is your daddy home? Did he go away and leave you all alone? I got a bad desire" ... Oh, oh, oh I'm on fire ... "Tell me now, baby, is he good to you? And can he do to you the things that I do? Oh no, I can take you higher" If they first line was different, the song would take a different path. "Hey Deborah, is your husband home?" (or similar) Sounds more adult, and less criminal child rapist that way.

It's so amazing that you noticed his band members! There's the sax player Clarence Clemons, the other guitar player was Miami Steve, and he also got drummer Max Weinberg and pianist Professor Roy Bittan who played in most of Meatloaf's songs that you guys love!

Born To Run came out in 1975 when Bruce was 26. Dancing In The Dark came out in 1984 when he was 35. He's currently 72 years old and still performing to this day!

My favorite album of Springsteen and the E Street Band is Darkness on the Edge of Town. In 1978 at 17 years old I saw the band at the Roxy in West Hollywood. It truly was a legendary concert.

The black guy, his sax player, was the legendary Clarence Clemons. He and Bruce were friends and musical collaborators for decades. And in case no one else has mentioned it, Bruce's nickname since the 70s has been "The Boss".

Sax player Clarence Clemons died 10 years ago of a stroke. One thing you'll see quite a bit with bands from the 70s is how many were integrated. The list is long. Check out Three Dog Night with "Black and White."

This song is from the album Born in the USA, which came out in 1984. Born to Run is from 1975, and it's one of his classics. Bruce did an awesome version of Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, with Clarence Clemons whaling on the sax. That would be fun to do at Christmas time.

Honestly, many hardcore springsteen fans cringed when this video dropped--because there were fears he might have sold out with a pop dance song (and him actually trying to dance). But later, Born in the USA, Glory Days, I'm On Fire, and My Hometown were released and that lifted him into superstardom and satiated his fans by assuring them he had not abandoned his blue collar style of music.

The sax player was Clarence Clemens, who had a very close friendship with Springsteen right up until his tragic passing. Since then Clarence's son has played sax with Bruce on some occasions.

The Boss brings it on - every single time. It's why we all had American flag patches on our bell bottoms. Yes, it is Courtney. You two keep digging. It gives me hope that our life will live on through these rockers. When you've seen 120 or more concerts, you'd see how truly raw and non auto tune we learned to breath with.

Born to Run was released in 1975, Dancing in the Dark was nearly ten years later in 1984. The coloured guy is Clarence Clemons part of Bruce’s band. You both have to do Clarence Clemons and Jackson Brown, You’re A Friend of Mine. Clarence actually sings and plays the sax in the song, it’s an awesome hit from the 80s one of my all time favs, I would love get your reactions on the song.

TRUE FACT: When Alfonso Ribeiro created the Carlton Dance for "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," one of the things he used as inspiration was Bruce's dancing in this video.

Yes, that was Courtney Cox. Bruce's first two albums were both released in 1973. His first really successful album was the great Born to Run released in 1975. This song is from his magnificent Born in the U.S.A. album, released in 1984 and was the one where the man known as "The Boss" finally got the attention he deserved. My personal favorite is The Rising, released in 2002. His most recent album is Letter to You, released last year. That's right, he's been making albums for nearly half a century. Most of his albums were recorded with the E Street Band and collectively they are often called Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band. The E Street Band has been around since before Springsteen's first album and many of its members have been with the band for multiple decades and they have worked with many other successful artists and released music of their own as well. Bruce's wife, Patty Scialfa, is a member of the band. Two of the original members, Danny Federici and Clarence "Big Man" Clemons have passed away. Clarence was the sax player on both songs to which you have reacted. His nephew, Jake Clemons, is now the saxophone player with the band. You could spend a couple of months just reacting to Springsteen songs; you can pick one at random and the odds are it will be great. But the one I love the most is "The Rising," told from the perspective of a firefighter trying to rescue people in the towers on 9/11. Another great song off his most recent album is "Ghosts." And this isn't even beginning to scratch the surface of what he has created.

Best concert ive ever been to was Bruce wrigley field 2016....i think lol. Me and my wife. Thats it. Most fun ive ever had at any show in my life. 2 people that loved the music sitting front row. We got lucky. Good times

I don't like "I'm on Fire" "Hey, little girl, is your daddy home? Did he go away and leave you all alone? I got a bad desire" ... Oh, oh, oh I'm on fire ... "Tell me now, baby, is he good to you? And can he do to you the things that I do? Oh no, I can take you higher" If they first line was different, the song would take a different path. "Hey Deborah, is your husband home?" (or similar) Sounds more adult, and less criminal child rapist that way. That said, I do like Bruce and saw one of his 3 hour concerts...

YES, it is, in fact, Courtney Cox!!! If you ever get the chance to see him in concert, do it!! This was in 1984. Born to Run was around 1975 or 1976. Bruce has been my favorite singer for a very LONG time. The late, great Clarence Clemons was with him right up to the end. Clarence played sax in Aretha Franklin's video, "Freeway of Love" AND also, his last video was with Lady Gaga, "The Edge of Glory"!!

I like how Bruce will pull a girl from the crowd up on stage to dance with him whenever they perform this song. I love the video of Bruce dancing with his mom to this song on stage. I forget the occasion.... it was mothers day, or her birthday? But it was super cute!

The saxofon player was Clarence Clemens "the big man", he was from the San Francisco Bay Area, and in the late eighties he played at a local club on a Sunday afternoon "Sweetwater", sadly he died some years back.

If you like Bruce, you should pay attention to this year's Olympics. His daughter, who he had with his wife Patti Scialfa, who is also in his band, is competing in the equestrian events. She's a horsewoman. The family has a farm in New Jersey with horses where she grew up.

I'm somewhere in this audience--somewhere in the nosebleed seats. The video was filmed during the "Born In The USA" tour in 1984 at a stop in Saint Paul, MN. I remember they did the song twice, maybe to cover different camera angles...Springsteen is a phenomenal songwriter and performer. I love your channel and always look forward to your videos.

Did you know the guy who played Silvio on the Sopranos is the guitar player for Springsteen? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Van_Zandt The guy who wears the banda if you see him. Also, the drummer Max Weinberg was the orchestra leader for the tonight show for many years. Bruce I think pretty much had the same band members his entire career. He started in the early 70's and I believe his break out song was "Rosaltita."The Sax player died a few years ago of natural causes. it's also rumoured but I can't confirm Bon Jovi was a roadie for him in the 70's.

Dude his band was VERY Different for the 1st 2 albums. David Sancious on Keyboards, Vinnie "Mad Dog" Lopez on Drums, Suzie Tyrell on Strings. Steve Van Zandt "Silvio" didnt come on board until the 3rd Album...same goes for Max Weinberg and Roy Bittan on Keys. Bon Jovi Was NOT a Roadie for Bruce. Bon Jovi didnt graduate Sayreville War Memorial High School until June 1979!!! What are you smoking?? Bad Info

I had a thing for Bruce when this came out, along with Born in the USA, Glory Days. This is such a happy song. I saw him at the Shoreline about 25 miles or so south of San Francisco in the late eigthies, he put on a great show. He is one of my heroes, because like Pete Seeger he stand up for the underdog and is not shy about expressing his opinions. He was at the Obama inauguaration and along with Pete Seeger they sang "It's my land it's you land"

Bruce and the e street band got their start in Ausbery park NJ and the bar they got their start in is called the Stone Pony. A buddy of my was a huge fan so he decided on day to drive from upstate ny to Ausbery park. When he sat down at the bar of the stone pone the bartender came over to ask what he wanted, the bar tender was stevie van zant, the guitarist for the e street band. My friend was shocked and got another shock, stevie told him bruce and the band was going to play that night and once it starts the doors are locked. He got a concert that went on for hours, had beers with bruce who even signed his boots..

Oh man, I love Bruce Springsteen. If I was allowed to only listen to one artist it would be him. He has a song for every occasion. Also, a total poet and storyteller. Love the story of Bill Horten in Cautious Man. If I had to pick a favourite song it would be Tougher Than The Rest - or maybe his cover of Dream Baby Dream.. wait, no, it would be Chasin' Wild Horses. It's too hard to choose just one!

Born to Run was Bruce's first hit, but the video is of him singing the song when he was older. Dancing... came later, on his mega-hit album Born in the USA. Fun song! And yes, that was Courtney Cox, in the video that made her famous.

Amber is right about the saxophone player. Bruce even mentions him (The Big Man) in a song "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" from the Born To Run album. Clarence Clemons: From 1972 until his death in 2011, he was the saxophonist for The E Street Band.

The saxophone player is the late *Clarence Clemmons* . You should listen to his duet with *Jackson Browne* called "You're a Friend of Mine". When this video was released, I remember local newspapers and TV news making a big deal out of Courtney Cox being from Alabama, and being featured in the video, and how she said she didn't know he was going to choose her to dance with him. She knew one of the girls they'd chosen as a possibility would get the chance, but they didn't say which in order to get a genuine reaction from the one he picked.

I was a teenager in the 80’s. The music was the best. We danced, enjoyed the fun clothes, big hair, cruising, and attending the 1982 World’s Fair, and going to concerts. I would love to have a time machine to go back for.a weekend! You guys should listen to Loverboy-Working for the Weekend or Turn me Loose, Journey-The Girl Can’t Help it or Lovin’ Touchin’ Squeezin’.

Check out "Born In The USA" that Bruce & the E Street band did in East Berlin, Germany in 1988. Because of this concert Bruce is given some of credit for the East Berlin wall coming down.
