I’ve never felt so understood before. I can’t wait to listen to this book in 1.5x speed

Same. I watch TV/movies 1.5-2.0 speed alone. I have to slow down to 1.28 speed when watching with my family. So much easier to concentrate at faster speeds.

Everything she is saying is on point with me 100%. I feel like I'm smart but always overwhelmed asking but why. My mom always says my favorite words growing up is but why. I would always tell people If I where to go back to school it would be science because I want to know the why why do things tic the way they tic. I want to know why the tooth pick is there what is it made of. I don't cate about the pink marshmallows don't you guys see the toothpick!!! I'm always emotionally driven and procrastinate so much. I was just Journaling about why I motivated by hate more then happy thoughts. Then today 2 hours before i discovered the podcast I was Journaling about why do i self sabotage so much WHHHHHHYYYYYY! This little boy came up named Mikey (my childhood nickname) He said I just want to play we never play we always just "work" (adhd work) so I made a deal with Mikey that we will workout (play) as long as he helps me out at work by focusing. I'm trying everything I can because I thought I was broken then I discovered this podcast. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

Hey, the first step is realizing what’s going on, the second step is learning about how adhd works and why it’s happening, third is unlearning the shaming internal dialogue and learning just to embrace you’re built different so need to learn how to work with your brain. Definitely recommend seeing an ADHD specialist to get diagnosed

Just do it button is definitely broken. Thank you for phrasing it like that so it is comprehensible for any listener. Thank you for the whole insight you shared. I'll watch more of your work! Thank you

My son cleaned our house, including his, his brother's, and my room because he was mad at me and threw out some food I had made while I was at a meeting.

The way she described the divergent thinking is probably a big reason why my None of the Above novel series is so complicated. If I write a movie, I'd never do one that was just one high concept. The mission thing for sure.

I am in my sabbatical decade and you have just articulated the sub plot of the whole things complete with its parts! Shall I move to Michigan?

From 41:45, about the two surgeons who are marriage mates: You mean, a typical male, if high-status enough, might tend to ‘disclose and demand’ more support from his co-workers? Telling your workmates “YOU need to shape up because I’m working too hard on the boring details” seems kind of imperious.

not sure I get the pick example. why are the 2 picks more interesting to a adhd brain in her opinion?

As I understood, she's saying that for people with ADHD connections (picks) between things (marshmallows) are more interesting than things themselves.

My doctor finally said I have ADHD, and one of the reasons I believe the diagnosis is correct is how I think. I tend to see the grand picture, the connections, the whole explanation. I’m good at systematizing topics and finding correlations and analogies. I think my brain is very “organized” in that sense.
