REUPLOAD: there was a very annoying beep in the Commodore 64 video capture, which I have now removed in post.

I had a Currah Speech 64 back in the 80s, it was fantastic. I ended up trading it for a Commodore Magic Voice (which I still have). I wish I still had it. Looking at the prices they command on eBay I don't think I'll be getting one any time soon :-)

When I found out my Currah didn't work I also looked for a replacement, but they're indeed pretty expensive now. Glad I could fix mine.

Nice video! You can get a new cartridge cover from tfw8b and put it back nicely. They have various colors to choose from.

While I agree that sending the luma and chroma signal seperately is better, the screen size of 7" really makes it hard to distinguish the difference between a composite and s-video signal. But an s-video port would certainly be a cool addition.

Is it better than SAM? SAM is great.....much better than Commodore's own Magic Voice cartridge. SAM could even sing!

I had one. Kon and koff toggle the reading of keystrokes.

Back in the 80s , I had a program that did a better job than this on the c64. It was called “Sam”.
