The best bits from The Hotshot and The Hotshot II, with a few extra goodies. All in one box, surprisingly affordable and even after all these years, this little thing has some performance to unleash!
Let's take a look at the 2012 re-release of the Tamiya Super Hotshot 4WD 1/10 buggy!
( Re: that lost screw: I did use thread lock compound wherever a screw fastened into metal. I used a little more on that one main one under the tray at the front. We'll see how it goes. I'm still enjoying this thing! )

I still remember lusting after any hobby-grade 4wd. Crazy how affordable it all is anymore. Vintage or modern

There's nothing quite like a Tamiya kit. Not the best, but on a little circuit like yours, they're so much fun. 😎❤️

I remember when the original hotshot came out it took the offroad racing world by storm....least around here. It raced against 2 wd frogs and it being low slung 4wd it just blew them all away.

The DT03 is impressive, too. That says a lot for simply more traction in the Hotshot's 4wd setup!

Thats absolutely stunningly beautiful. Ive got myself one as well. Did it in standard box art too. I put a Tamiya super stock RZ motor and use a 13 tooth pinion and i use a 2S lipo battery. Mine reaches 44 km/h which is actually faster than my brushed Kyosho Fazer Chevy Camaro. But only a few runs started wearing down the tires so before it eas too late i went and got some aftermarket Schumacher wheels and tires. I lost the front bumper screw too. And i didnt use the antenna's, at first i built it with them but then thought it looked a little strange with 2 antennas and its already a heavy RC car. And i actually stuffed up because i used some Loctite in the antenna thread and overnight the chassis shattered around the antenna posts. I had to replace that with a new chassis.but all is good now its a beautiful buggy but best used only rarely and as a display piece. Dont get me wrong , i live this car but to do some hard runs i think i would just use a newer car or truck, maybe Traxxas or aarma. Great video too. Im also in Melbourne from around your neck of the woods too.

Oh cool! Yeah these won't stand up to regular use without continual maintenance but they look awesome.

I loved the Super Shot and wanted one so much. And then the Avanti came out, but the SS was my Holy Grail. I might get one now im an adult, but they say never meet your heroes.

If the Hornet was your hero then I think this would be wise advice. However, the Super Hotshot isn't bad at all. Goes hard, just gotta keep it from bigger rocks like on my track and you'll be fine.

HItwas neat to see the old chassis in action. The roll over antennas worked pretty well. When you had the problem with the screws falling out of the number and the noisy gears it brought back memories. I would be at race and guys were running the new RC10 back then and the new JRX2 and someone would show up with one of these. There often problems with the cars. It's a great looking buggy.

It's full of potential little issues if it's driven on bumpy stuff. But it looks really cool, all the same! I've got it all back to new condition and I guess I'll just use it occasionally and save the harder driving for newer models.

I have to admit it looked really composed around your track. Durability as others have said, leaves a bit to be desired, but it sure looks cool! Mid motor was so far ahead of its time too if you consider the 2wd race buggies were all rear motor until more recently going to mid motor. I've been a regular lately at our off-road carpet track driving an Associated B6.3 that I picked up used. Learning a lot about track driving and trying to break out of novice status into sportsman. I bet one of the (4) wheelers would rip around your track. The B74.1 and .2 are popular but starting motor for those at my track is 13.5 turn so I'm still living with my 21.5 for now 😁

The kits are definitely fun to build' i do find them to-in the long run to be pretty shelf queens. It sure does give one the perspective of just how far the rc hobby in general has advanced. That said, Nice looking build brother

Thanks. Yeah, I'm glad things have moved forward, but it's still nice to build the older stuff!

It's so true. Modern RC's are leaps and bounds better as far as durability goes. I really wish Tamiya would embrace modern plastics into some of their older kits (Lunch box)😂.
@muskokamike127

I think tamiya is relying WAY too much on their laurels at this point. I see new kits using worthless snap on tie rod ends that wear out after 3 adjustments and pop off.
@RCTNT

I have to agree with you guys. The nostalgia is good and as long as the models are a fair price for the quality, that's fine. But when they're getting more expensive but still ye olde Tamiya style, it can be frustrating.

@@RCTNT I like building them, no doubt, but I'm not going to pay 2x for something just so I can build it when it's slower and not as durable as an RTR one.
