If "life" (your parents, school, hometown) gives you friends, Just enjoy them. It's not that complicated. If you are with people just because of the utility they provide you in your journey, they are not friends, they are assets.

i agree. I believe friends can influence you. For example i am a Christian and it is good to have some Christian friends to keep me on the right path. But in order to grow as a person its also important to connect with those outside of our Goals, views or hobbies. Focussing on a connection rather than how we benefit.

People who have never been forced to change their habits invariably end up in the dull normal rut. Then they find it impossible to relate to more dynamic or changeable people. And then they atrophy both mentally and physically.

Hi 👋 I'm in my sixties. When I was younger i spent to much time trying to fit in with others. But I'm a person who doesn't fit because I'm different. I wasted time and energy on people when i shouldn't have. Some people decide that other people are not good enough for them. It makes sense in what you say. It's best to find something that you feel passionate about. Also associate with people you want in your life. We all judge, we have to , to survive.

Good luck on your marathon David! The line about being the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with is really powerful. I can really relate to the start of your video as well. I always had the feeling that my friends in elementary or even high school were friends of convenience. It wasn't until college and later that I felt like I formed meaningful friendships with people based on commonly held values.

This is so true. I am a full time musician, and when I first began to decide what I wanted to do, I had as many as three jobs on the path to trying to get to this point. The more time I spent around musicians, the more I went to shows, the more I produced and involved myself in the community, the more I became one. Now, I have an album on vinyl record that I cut at Abbey Road and performed LIVE, I have an incredible 6 piece band, residential spots at the best venues in my city and our music has blown up on KZfaq. Its funny, had I not been making the adjustments to my environment and ny peer group, I'd of wasted my time because i wouldnt be working on my crafts and goals with specialists in this field. A clear, concise and ego-less description of the some of the tools required to help you manifest your vision. Ill be dropping you a follow. Thanks for this mate, I run too by the way. ❤

Honestly treating friends as though they should act as commodities is a sad side affect of self improvement. Yes, if friends are holding you back, assuming that they're putting you down or discouraging you, thats a bad friendship. However, theres nothing wrong with companionship even if they're not adding anything special in your life.

Correct ! We need people/family/friends as helping aid and support to get trough life . Especially if doing business/entrepreneur , success of it will to a good percentage depend based on people whom we keep around ourselves (however luck is the main ingredient of true business success) . But by all means get rid of all the people in you're life which are toxic/users/bring you down/not willing to help , even if they're family members . Make space for quality people because good friends are more precious than gold .

Thanks for being brave enough to say what most people only think ha... I've found letting go of friendships I've outgrown a challenging part of growth. I'd also argue that it's kinda beautiful to have friends who are all on different paths and you respect and support each other's lives even though it's different (if your friends are able to do that). I have friends who are getting married and settling down, whereas I'm on more of a purpose/mission path at the moment and although that means I see those friends less I love following their unique journeys, because maybe down the line il be getting married and they'll be doing a career shift etc, and yeah, just think it's special if you're friends just because you love the person and you support them whatever they are going through. Thanks for the video. :)

You can place people in your life based on your needs, so maybe some people are only for having fun and drinking with, maybe you keep them in that role and only hang with them once in awhile, another person can fulfill your spiritual needs; another your sexual, etc so you can get your needs met from yourself and many others.

Well i had to leave my toxic family behind, and all friends also. I not really care since they werent really a good influence. When i think about some people that u cant even call friends i get super mad because i allowed so much bullshit behavior from them. But its okay u must learn all this stuff about life within time.

start as acquaintances, and over time the relationship will naturally develop into a friendship if it's going to aligned and supportive for you both. in the mean time, joining intentional groups online (discord, facebook, skool etc) is helpful for networking/brainstorming/good vibes from similar people on similar missions!

I think it is wise to create and talk about the distinction of friends are holding you back. I agree, don't give up your friends or whatever. It's leave if there is no other option and/or you cannot disassociate from the mentality they convey or what is acceptable/not acceptable. The literal first step is to recognize and change. Maybe cutoff the emotional intake you receive from the friends where you are becoming different than them and maybe you both or your group can all grow with a new disciplined practice or way of life and still be friends. Then, you gave in the relationship what they deserve as well as what they may do for you in the future because of how they feel inspired or desire to return the favor. If two parties participate in this, no matter the intention, it's copacetic and healthy ..healthy enough. Little engineer joke

I prefer to have friends who just like being around one another. We aren’t using each other for picking up skills. You are talking about colleagues more than friends. But, yes, finding colleagues who share interests and skills is important. I think we do have duty towards our friends and family. Self actualization can become self centeredness. We are all becoming a little to self interested these days and our society is crumbling.

Would be curious what do you think of movies like "The Banshees of Inisherin" or "Everything Everywhere All at Once", since the former is about breaking up of friendship and it happens on a fictional Irish island during the Civil War and the latter is so spiritual and philosophical and really close to what you talk about in a lot of your videos in one way or another, granted you watch movies from time to time, because you seem like a person who has a lot of more "worthwhile things" to do, but these movies are very meaningful and impactful and I bet you could make a great spin-off on them, not a review, but just take some concepts that are close to you and incorporate them into your video, it is just an idea, because I am genuinely curious where is your stance on reincarnation, alternate realities/timelines etc. and also the former movie how you would evaluate such a drastic "friendship breakup". Aside from that, I don't care, even if you just make a video about alternate realities or something along those lines and I would be particularly interested in some psychological videos, tarot, astrology or more spiritual concepts like your first video on this channel, even if it is more "negative"/pragmatic, just open to hear different perspectives if it can help in self-development at all in your opinion and such. And also maybe about how to embrace loneliness on a spiritual/life's journey, because I miss having "friends", but I also don't know any people atm, who are on the same wavelength as I am and all my previous friendships have broken up due to that, and it has been like this for some time now, over than a year or 2, and it's wearing me down a bit, though I have a dog now and it's priceless, but still, human company is human company. The closest to that I have is listening to people like you on KZfaq, but that's not "real" in a physical sense at least, but helps me keep sane, if anything. 😅 Thanks for all you do. 😊
