Agree, subscriptions, power passes and some cosmetics are in my eyes acceptable way of monetization. Whole idea that devs are basically staying against playerbase and making game intentionally worse experience for sake of monetization is just by common sense horrible. Then it is just question of how bad it is, but it is already bad. I am not going to play TL even when in general I like look of the game, but I have already my experience with p2w KR MMO and I do not need more. Also even when some games have possibly worse p2w that TL, lets not forget that LT have lot of PvP and in heavily PvP focused games it is always worse.

That's the thing no one understands here in the west. There is NOTHING to swipe for on the auction house with lucent. It is there as the main p2w feature but it's USELESS. these devs need income.

If you pay wow at $15 it is currently also PTW. FFXIV is PTW. I dunno its shitty but most games just want that cash now and will do what they can to make people spend more.

The problem with this game is that even if you "vote with your wallet" by still playing this game and not spending you are still contributing to them making money. Not only because you are a stat for the game numbers but because every time you kill another player you are increasing their incentive to spend money to avoid the death debuffs. Honestly this system is just another impressive way to suck money out of players. We will definitely be seeing this kind of system in future games.

Well, if they release it as it is in Korea, it would prove they actually are stupid. I don't see a bunch of whales keeping the servers alive in the West :D It's not that good of a game to do that.

I had a blast with Lost ark with my friends until I hit that wall where if I didn't pay to get stronger I would not be able to progress so being the farthest along I described to my friends what it would take to progress further and we quit and haven't been back since. I refuse to play games like that. Lost Ark was the first and last one I will ever play.

@@Adam-082 Lost Ark really is a tragedy. Such an amazing game and had a blast until I too and many of us hit that wall, then it was just a horrendous experience.

Lost Ark is perfectly fine until you reach the end of the endgame. That's over 100h of free gameplay before farming anything.

NCSoft gave us CoH (now resurrected) and GW2 (still great and almost 100% f2p for me anyway).

frankly, its not even just greed, its a cultural thing. in the east, games are expected to be free and not buy to play or with a subscription model. in order to make money and stay afloat, this is the only easy monetization model they know how to do

I mean one does not take their amazing pork burgers to a country that doesn't eat pork, they simply wouldn't sell. And the 5% expats will not make enough sales for a viable business.

@@bcatbb2896 agree, but that should be job of AGS (which is btw horribly mismanaging Lost Ark) to come to them and say "hey guys, this will not work in West, we have to change few things". It is not a shocker that game with more players generate more money and lure more new audience than game which is funded by few whales.

its already nosediving in korea, ncsoft has always had their quarterly earnings report divided into each game they own the IP of, yet for the 2 quarters since the game were released in korea it has not been shown once in the quarterly earnings report wich tells me one thing, the game has been in the red since launch

They have whole departments dedicated to psychology, used to exploiting people through addiction. These games are made specifically to hit addiction centers in our brains so they can manipulate us into paying as much as possible.

Throne is a primarily pvp game, in warframe no one cares primarily a pve game. Also lucents alot harder to obtain as f2p in Throne vs warframes platinum for f2p. But yeah at its core they are similar.

@JakeAtkins11 OK, that's what I was getting. I'm sure if things start going south fast they might tweak it more down the road. I care not for the pvp, but the pve I'm down for. I played the alpha and the beta of Throne. It has potential.
