Use metal water bottles and buy two. One goes in the dishwasher while the other you use. It’s never failed me since my time in the military. We had work details and washing dishes was one of them. Nothing beats HOT water and soap.

Usually I seen on the bottles. Says not dishwasher safe. I'd rather usey hands to wash them anyways

Don’t forget about the rubber ring on many of these bottles. I cleaned mine after using it at work after many moths and behind the ring was a black mess.

I stopped using my re-usable water bottle when I noticed a film growing in the threads of the lid. How am I supposed to keep it from growing and consuming it? Oh just don't use a bottle with a lid, perhaps a glass? yeah I'm a glass guy now

I switched to a straw lid - makes a world of difference and maintaining it clean a lot easier

My bottle used to get bacteria build up fast but then I started water falling method when I drink and it's stays clean way longer. Like I don't even have to wash ever clean. I still do though. Just imagining whats happening on a microscopic level persuades me to.

A water bottle should be washed with soap and water just like any cup or glass. People use their water bottle for weeks and just keep filling them up day after day. I use my water bottle almost every day. I wash it with soap and water every time before I fill it. Technically it should last a lifetime. Common sense people.

Another tip is that you should replace certain parts every 6 months or every year. Like the straw or lid/screw cap.

i clean/wash mine every time i use it for a day. ( I am a biochemist's daughter. ) Even bottled water, if it has some left in it after a day->day and a half, and if i drank directly from it? It becomes plant water.

Please test the Larq bottle - they have a UV-C light for bacteria and a filter option as well.

Here's a request : could you test Megahome water distillers? That would be awesome. You could also do a test using bottled water (inserted into the water distiller) versus tap water. I tried it once and the bottled water resulted in small round plastic pearls inside of the water distiller once distillation was achieved.

Solar disinfection (SODIS) would surely work for bottles that are transparent, but not necessarily those that are opaque. Good 'ole soap and water is the best bet

Hey man, I currently have a reverse osmosis system but am at least a little concerned about nanoplastics. Supposedly, the filtering process may be adding them. Do you know any system that has been tested or anything to avoid that?

Reverse osmosis is one of the best treatment technologies to remove nanoplastics. Where are you getting information your system might be adding nanoplastics to the filtered water? What unit do you own? Is it certified?

@@waterfilterguru It looks like there are polyamides in it which are (probably) coming from the filter they think. I have the waterdrop under the sink on my end.

I have been watching some of your water filters testing, but it a lot to choose, we have a berkey for 6 ore 7 years now, we use water from the well since 2 years, the berkey filter clocks up very oftener, I have never tested the filter. I have only 1 liter of filtered water in 24 hours and started using bottle water because it is not enough, can you tell me out of your tests, wich water filter is the best for on the counter top. Hey Anna, thanks for your comment. From what you describe, it sounds like your Berkey filter is at capacity and should be replaced. That said, if you are looking for a new system, the best first place to start is with a lab test. The testing data will provide detailed information about what contaminants are present that need to be treated. You can then leverage the data to guide your purchase decision. Thank you for your reply, The berkey black filter that's is in, is only 1 year old, the water of the well goes trough a filter that takes only rough parts out of the well, there are always a small amount of sand coming with it, I think that this is maybe the issue, I live in Greece and berkey is not very much for sale here, we just ordered 2 new black once from the Netherlands, thank you for your advice to check first the water from the well.

Sounds to me like you have suspended solids in the water that are clogging the surface of the filter. Again, testing well water is vitally important!

Water Filter Guru: I want a filtration system that removes all the fluoride, and is highly alkaline, but still leaves the minerals intact for drinking purposes. I want the water to be fresh, crisp, and pristine like nature intended it. Like a natural spring that has been untouched by man. How do you find a filtration system like this without it costing you an arm and a leg? To answer your question from the video: Everything that I consume food or drink from has been washed in the past 24 hours.
