Ys X Nordics is proving to be exactly what I wanted from the franchise. The refreshing combat structure consisting of melded old and new features has already made me addicted. The soundtrack is exceptional as well, and the new ship combat system, while simple, has left me wanting to experiment with it more. Here's hoping Ys X Nordics greets Western audiences sooner rather than later because I feel fans and newcomers alike will fall in love with this ambitious step forward.

I love how there really isn’t an overarching story for Adol’s journey. All the games are just random disconnected adventures that have happened in his life. 😭

Not true if you play them in order there is an overarching narrative in great lore building in the world that people can theorize his adventures locations and when they happened

That is correct, but I think he meant each one is completely stand-alone; there is a setting, a world, but apart from Ys I and II, they aren't connected as story arcs. Correct me if I'm wrong though@@treebush

I really felt like Monstrum Nox ended up being the natural apex of that game style, both in how it played and how the party concept is key to the story it’s telling. I’m ready for something new and everything I’ve seen from Nordics has me so excited. I especially love that they held onto the best change from Monstrum, that being the way enhanced movement options and more enjoyable maps they allow you to navigate. Cannot wait for the localization announcement, will buy the special edition with a bullet.

Ys 8 has been my introduction to the series, and while I haven't beaten it yet, it's easily one of my favorite RPGs to date lol. Monstrum Nox didn't really grab my attention as much though, but the gameplay still looks solid. Ys 10 looks amazing though and I'm so ready for it

I've played every single game in the series, and it's pretty much gotten better for me with every release. Ys IX was super fun with the movement options, and Ys VIII is, well, one of the finest action rpgs ever. Very excited for this one, hopefully now that Kuro no Kiseki is getting localized Ys X will be next!

This game looks so sick, that sand battle looks awesome. Ys 8 already plays so smooth on the PS5 can’t imagine better.

It's crazy that we still aren't getting worldwide same day release on the YS titles. They have grown so much with 8 and 9! Here's hoping we don't have to wait too long! Hopefully it'll be here by Early Summer '24!

They dropped the bag after Lacrimosa of Dana. The series was getting some steam world wide and it just fell off with Mostrum of nox. Heck I didn't even know there was Ys Norics until a friend informed me about it and boy am I not impressed at all and I love the series growing up. Sad to say that Ys will always be a niche title overseas.

@@NinjapowerMS i honestly think both ys and trails not getting simultaneous worldwide releases is the reason why these games are still so niche even in the jrpg sphere. trails has gotten a lot more popular but ys suffers the most from this tbh

@@controlcon That and they still look like PS3 Jrpgs and hadn't move from these graphical anchor for years lol. Also need to start introducing new mechanics because the gameplay hadn't change as well. Take a look at Fire emblem practically sold their souls by introducing the social links on the 3ds and milked the ever f out of it. Not saying that Ys should copy Fire emblem but they really need to start figuring out how to pull fans in because all that going for them is pure nostalgia from fans me included. And not even the combat from Ys seven is enough to carry these series now that it's 2023

Ever since it was announced, I have been patiently waiting for the game. I am a big Ys fan and following Adol's adventure logs has always been something I want to see more of.

When did Falcom ever prioritized localization speed lol. Its likely that we will get both Trails Through Daybreak games first before getting Ys 10.

@@DakonBlackblade2 They had a stream during TGS and announced the US date for Daybreak and PS5 version of Cold Streel III& IV. I was shocked they did not offically announced Ys X is coming in 2024 at some point. I think the localization is farther off than we think or another publisher is going to bring it over strangely enough.

God, I already loved the Ys games, so adding Suikoden style ship exploration & combat to it makes me so excited! Even if some feel same-y, every game has been a hit. Interesting to hear this game evolves on the formula!

Yeah, this is looking FANTASTIC. I beat Ys 9, Celceta, and am currently playing Ys 8. Fun games. Low stress. But I am getting this game for sure.

Started playing some of the older games via GOG and then got VIII and really enjoyed it. Still have to try IX. This one look interesting too, but I think I'm gonna change from the switch to PC.

Tell is more about the music, how is the atmosphere? It is quite bold to continue the story after the first 2 games, I am very curious if we will are getting a worthy story this time or if it will end with "it was all just a dream" again.

I know you said you dont read japanese, but do you know, or can you check, if the game has an option to play the game with kana or with furigana? I can struggle with katakana and hirgana but most of the videos Ive been seeing have a lot of kanji.

Little slower, more precise and heavy attacks feel good for me. I loved combat in ys8 and ys9 but it sometimes felt too fast with too much stuff going on. Hope Falcom really delivers Western version fast, Ys is my favourite franchise from them.

I waiting for it on english, look very good and i see something like an evolution of YS VIII without Dana. The story of the misterious island and the sad and epic Dana's the Godess are amazing. I like more Dana story , Monstrum Nox are lost on this city. Aparently Nihom Falcon likes the anime style graphics , every time looks more and more anime. I hope YS don't end up being an action slash game. At least not until the last book arrives, Adol Christine's book, the final book. The Music as always incredible job JDK team.

New viking girl looks cool and all but I loved having a bunch of different party members in the more recent Ys games. They make the narrative more fun and spice it up. If its JUST Adol and viking girl fighting, with Dogi hanging around on the ship, that's gonna get boring after a while. Having the various personalities of all the party members kept the game's narrative from getting too monotonous from just having the same two characters speak you eachother the whole time. Especially, since Adol says a grand total of less than a dozen words per game.

Didnt really fancy the rock-paper-scissors system of the old game, it felt tedious at times especially in a button mashing game. Havent played 9 yet, but i really enjoyed 8, hopefully they bring back 8 blocking system as that was basically broken when i actually learned to use it near the end of the game.

does it solve the problem of killing every single boss in hardest difficulty with Flash Move/Guard etc don't get me wrong it's fun but I believe it should be a skill e.g. DMC5 doesn't require Royal guard to kill bosses. In Ys you cannot kill bosses on higher difficulty without Flash Move/Guard

Idk if this is a good place to talk about something on my mind but ive seen people not like the music as much or not at all. Idk if its a loud majority or whatever but its gotten me really concerned about falcoms future. Im a big falcom fan but it does bother me a bit seeing the negativity rising over the years. I really do want to see the games get more noticed and release a bit quicker but even that could bring problems. I just don't really know what to think and i actually do feel down about it but its whatever. Haven't even been able to find groups that have falcom fans.

I loke the ys serkes and despite people complaining about ys and trail of series graphics looking pit of the ps3 ers, i for one like it compared to ghe more realistoc 3d approach i seen most jrpg stsrt to lean towards.

Ys IX might have that feature, try playing it. Also earlier ys games have fixed camera, so you can also try playing them, they're great games as well & obviously have better music, even better than VIII.

If NiSA follows their current release pattern for Falcom Games then Summer 2026. However there will probably be a PC port for the Korean and Japanese market released next year by Clouded Leapord Entertainment via Steam, though an unofficial English translation for said PC port is uncertain. These ports are usually subpar unfortunately and won't be patched with English Support officialy. If you wait until 2025 then NISA should release their port by PH3 which will be patched with English support in 2026.

Ys 9 came out in Japan in September 2019, and North America got it in July 2021. So I am expecting a release in July 2025.

Ps2??dynamic shadows, bloom, drawn, antialiasing, textures 720 or higher, shadows without lines and teeth, what are you talking about?? Not even Ark of Napishtim was visually superior on PS2 compared to PC.

I dislike the fact that in order for franchises to beomce more popular they have to turn into games that they aren't to cater to wider audiences. Y's was a beloved series for me, I have to say I put it down after dana. They should make a spin off series that is like the games before, of course it isn't going to make profit though...

Preordered this (YS X) and started playing day one. Unfortunately it’s disappointing! YS 8 is still the BEST of whole series ( I played origin, 2, 4, 7, 8, 9 n 10). Just bought YS8 PS5 physical disc for collection purpose even I already have its PS4 n Switch digital deluxe versions.

Love ys game but this one does not seems better than lacrimosa of dana. I ll buy it but can't see a big improvement.. Hope the world is bigger and more interesting than ys 9.

In my opinion Lacrimosa No Dana is the best of the Ys series even compared to the latest Monstrum Nox, it has the game aspect that i love n combined: robust story with twist, RPG element, adventure style, RTS, world building, micro management, In Nordics i still see more resemblance to Monstrum Nox, as much as i hype about the game i still wait n see mode

I love Ys games, but man why do they still have ps3 era graphics. it's been 7 years since Ys 8 but they haven't improved the visuals at all

Switch was the lead platform for Ys X, so smooth performance was prioritized over cutting edge graphics. Also Falcom is an extremely small studio (around 50 developers), and they release a game every year, so they don’t have the time/resources/man power to dedicate to creating high end assets.

If you think the visuals aren't improved, You're wrong. If you were expecting a massive leap...well, shame. But remember, if you were a self publishing developer, with shareholders, and smaller budgets for games than your bigger contemporaries, where would you focus you money, a good gameplay experience or bleeding edge visuals? Of course if youre one of those gamers who say "gameplay trumps graphics", then complains about ps3 level visuals, you are just a hypocrite. Edited for grammer.

When I was listening to this video I was like : oh no.. they can't give a rating without understanding the (language) story and all.. later to find out that this was an "impression" video and not a review. Thanks for keeping it real guys ! 🫡
