Q, your flower turned out great. Tip time: tenon Diameter of the tenon should be so that once the chuck is fully tightened down on the tenon, the jaws of the chuck should be about 1/8” apart. If you look back you’ll see a large gap between the jaws and only the corners of the jaws are in contact with the wood. Also the tenon should not bottom out on the bottom of the jaws. Instead, the jaw faces should be seated against the wood. Your jaw faces are fully exposed with no contact to the wood. I think you’ll have better success with tenons if you’ll apply these 2 tips. But again, your flower goblet came out great. Keep up the good work. I’m glad to se you in these challenges. Now on the water.

Doug thank you, this is the first time I have had some one take the time to explain why my tenon was failing. I will apply those two tips on my next project, hopefully with better results

Hey 👋 First off very cool 😎 Second super cool to know what you’re doing right around the corner! Third I have lots of camphor trees if you can do anything with them you’re welcome to them. Fourth I’m excited to see how your project turns out. I have good memories and luck with Sycamore Trees.

I remember planting Sycamore trees when I was around 8 or 9 years old. Only a small branch cutting stuck in the ground in January. Those trees are still alive and around 30 to 50 feet tall now. I’m 43

My grandpa did lots of intricate wood work when I was younger. Banisters for stair cases etc. I love the smell of woodwork! 😂 I also love making things and sharing with others. I built a tree house from the camphor trees. They hold up good from insects and rot.
