It's pure fanservice, canonically Yu only use Myriad Truths to finish off the final boss in P4 and the Izanagi-no-Okami you could fuse in NG+ are more of a trophy for getting the true ending. Same thing with Joker, i wouldn't be surprised if the protagonist of P6 could use Sinful Shell with Satanael when in P5 & P5R you can't do that outside of that one scene.

Isn't it more like other SMT's considering the darker tone, the Demon negotiation and usage of guns? There are even dark endings if you mess up as well.

Technically persona 5 hasn't even been milked as hard as persona 4 yet, aside from DLC, this is just the beginning.
