I had what I thought could be a cool idea for Yuan-Ti. In all three castes, split them between Constrictors and Venomous Yuan-Ti. Each yuan-ti takes on the properties of a specific species of dangerous snake. The Constrictors have size and strength, being good at grappling and crushing targets, while the Venomous yuan-ti are leaders and good at charming and poison use, but are as frail as other humanoids. There would be tension between the two types, with the venomous ones being typically lazy and arrogant, but never able to be too much so, as the Constrictors can literally kill them with only a few blows. I just thought it would give them more depth and make for better gameplay with them.

I've always thought that the naming of the castes was backwards. To me the most human-looking should be Abominations, whilst those closest to true snakes should be Purebloods.

I was mad at no playable snek races so I was working on a tweaked lore to get Yuan Ti to that role. Something about a subsect who had bargained with Koa-Toa to craft a new serpent-goddess to try and instill some benevolence to the serpent pantheon. This name convention sounds like a good way to differentiate the advanced serpents from these versions from the still around and still malevolent Yuan-Ti

I've always worked with the interpretation that the names of the castes are those given to them by forces of good, rather than what they actually call themselves. A pureblood for instance would be a relatively pure humanoid. An abomination is already very far removed from their humanity, thus labeled as an abomination

@gratuitouslurking8610 look at the MTG UA from a few years ago. The Egypt is based one's Naga looks like a d&d halfblood.
