I met Jonghyun a few years ago. My Uncle works for SM Entertainment an introduced me to him. We had lunch together and remained friends ever since. When I got back to the United States we remained friends and emailed each other all the time. We talked about everything, especially his close bond to Taeyeon. He never mentioned to me he was depressed but he did say he felt alone a lot, especially after his concerts. I'm still in contact with his sister though. We talk on the phone.

Key .. In between recoding sessions I asked my Uncle if I could meet him and my Uncle talked to him and after a long session of recording Jonghyun came over to me and shook my hand. We had a nice conversation. And ever since we became friends. Then I was also invited to his rehearsals also to watch. I could see how hard they all worked getting all the dance moves just right. I could tell they were exhausted and even overworked. He said videos were really hard to do sometimes as they had to go over and over it to get it right. Jonghyun was a perfectionist. My Uncle still works with SM Entertainment.

The peak of her depression was in 2014 where the issues like her relationship with Baekhyun and Jessica leaving the group completely took toll on her, it completely devoured her. She really loosed a lot of weight that time and she couldn't even put a smile on her face for a long long time. And we haven't heard her ahjumma laugh for a couple of years since then. But now, it seems that Taeyeon already recovered and is genuinely happy already.

It should be the opposite. The psychiatrist is a professional trained to help people with EXACTLY the kinds of problems he had; he/she should know more than anyone else how serious it is, how to treat him, help him get better. _Not_ blame him. The members - they have not said anything, and they probably won't for a long time, but they are his close friends who were probably of the most comfort to him. The friend he left his last note to said she tried, and his family tried, to stop this from happening but they couldn't. They were there to listen to him, offer him a hug, tell him he IS good enough, all the things he wanted to hear the most, but it just wasn't enough. Would you blame them too? How do you know the members weren't there for him? Do they really have to make a public announcement that they were there for him? Jonghyun's family consider the boys like his family too; they are standing in place of immediate male family members at his funeral. They did not have to do that, and his funeral is not the time to make a "public image statement." No one would blame them if they did not do that because the members are not his relatives. I have/have had anxiety and depression myself. That's not the same as wanting to commit _______. At all. For me, both were different. When I had anxiety, I was comforted by my friend's hug. And it was only instances. Even in the worst of it, I knew it would eventually fade out again. (And start up again, and fade again...which is tiring but doesn't make me think life is not worth it.) Depression? It was every second, every day, and I pushed everyone away, purposely hurt them, ESPECIALLY those who cared about me. I couldn't stand having them around me all the time. I didn't _want_ to be happy. It wasn't as severe for me as it was for Jonghyun, but reading his words... I think I understand a little bit. Living for someone else, even your most beloved people in the world, his mom and sister, is only enough for so long if you don't want to live for yourself. He was hurting every day and he just wanted to end it.

I recalled that when they sang the "Breath" duet in 2014, there were people complaining that they did not have any eye contact when they sang. Now when it comes to "Lonely", they start to improve on that LOL. But the whole thing is weird, as this song is quite sad in some way, and so they need to keep the poker face (esp. Jonghyun).
