The lack of BGM really makes this scene stand out among animated air combat scenes.

+Illusive Tabby The show as a whole had a very limited soundtrack. It let the voice acting and the sound effects take center stage. It was a wise decision, and it really added to the otherworldly atmosphere. I believe the only air battle that had music was in the very ending.

The latter half of the YF-21vs. Ghost X-9 fight (Macross Plus OVA ep.4/movie) has no music for a majority of the scene.**spoiler!** It's only until Guld's death when "Voices" starts playing.

Rei’s copilot is a bit of a moron for assuming that just because it was a Super Sylph that it was an ally. There’s only 13 Super Sylph in the SAF so the likelihood of a second one being in the exact same airspace as B-503 without any heads up is next to none. Especially with how cautious the SAF is with their usage of the Super Sylphs
@DonVigaDeFierro3 жыл бұрын
*(The series ended 15 years ago. Spoilers should be fair game by now, but anyways: Spoilers ahead.)* At this point, nobody was really expecting that the JAM would start mimicking FAF aircraft. This works to highlight Fukai's blind trust in Yukikaze... I think the WSO (I forgot his name) just assumed what anyone would at that situation.
@AICW3 жыл бұрын
Correct. In the novel, it was not a Super Sylph, it was a regular FAF Sylphid fighter, so it's much more reasonable there to assume it's an ally. And the novel never confirmed if it was a JAM plane or not. It even brought up the possibility that it could have been a plane from Earth meant to spy on the FAF. Rei may have killed a friendly, it was unclear because Yukikaze never ID'ed the plane as an "Enemy," she could only consider it an "Unknown."
@BudgiePanic3 жыл бұрын
@@AICW Correct, the novel never confirms what it was that Rei shot down. He's only released back to duty after they can't find any missing aircraft that he plausibly shot down
@Spoons__2 жыл бұрын
I gotta to agree with the first reply. I think it's much more natural to be cautious about shooting down an ally, despite how implausible the situation might be. Of course this occurs before the JAM starts mimicking human tech 1 for 1.
