For those of you with this engine…the coolant lines he points to at the beginning of the video are notorious for being plastic connectors and fracturing when the truck gets older and the plastic degrades from the heat. They fail catastrophically and dump all your coolant within a few seconds. Very easy to burn up the engine. O’Reillys and Amazon sell steel connectors that will last and avoid this failure.

Thanks for the video. It looked more complicated with my first look under the hood. This is something I can do with it parked out in the street. Save the mechanic bill for things I can't do without a lift. Keep up the good work.

Here’s an extra tip for those looking to DIY this job. Makes everything a lot easier if you deflate the tires before starting this job. Lowers the front end substantially, making it easier to access under the hood. Remove the valve from the valve stem, and just reinflate after the job is done! I travel doing mechanic work so i do research before i do a job I’m not familiar with but any time I’ve done work on trucks, i always deflate the tires and reinflate them after the work is complete

Doing this today , just fixed my p0011 with vvt solenoid put all 3 sensors while I was there.

Please can anyone help me! So my 08 Yukon Denali’s engine started shaking so pulled over and had it towed home. Fast forward 2 years and I’m trying to get it fixed. The battery was dead but turned right on but still shaking so I replaced the spark plugs and wires thinking it was a simple fix. I was adding oil and noticed the fill tube gasket was sticking out. So I took out the fill tube and noticed the plastic clip was missing for what looks to be a long time amd presumably fell into the valve cover. I also let the car run for a while before even noticing the problem. Would this be the cause for the shaking engine? Should I just replace the fill tube or should I open the valve cover and try and locate the plastic tab first? I am not very mechanically inclined obviously but I think I can manage to take it off with this guide!

I'm not trying to sound to stupid but how did you know your valve cover needed replacing? My Yukon has an oil leak coming from behind the motor and I can't see where its coming from. I got like 4 spurk plugs with oil and. I just replace them if i change the cover gasket i have to replace the spurk plugs again? Because they may have oil on them again . thanx!!

Great Instruction Video! I replaced both valve cover gasket, even both pcv lines because they where broken. But I can still see oil coming from spark plug wire, is there anything else I'm missing on replacing? Like spark plug gasket? I would appreciate any info on this problem.
