Hi soda! I own a firefly axolotl. Currently, all fireflies are created after hatching, and a procedure done under anesthesia, where the tails are physically swapped. Although embryo allografts have been done, they’re seen as not very profitable and more difficult, so the current creators of fireflies have stopped using this method. In summary, the tails are cut and swapped shortly after the eggs hatch, and is therefore a cosmetic surgery. As for EGFP and RFP axolotls: EGFP was introduced in 2005 to study limb regeneration/swaps in axolotls and moved as a dominant gene into the pet population. RFP axolotls are kept under strict lock and key, and were made for the same reason, so getting one is near impossible. Our opinions on these animals very much differ, since my favorites are EGFP, RFP, Firefly, and of course my favorite is my chimera mosaic haha.

Axolotl breeder here! Fireflies are done horribly. Half the time they don’t put them under anaesthesia and done in hatchlings (since higher survival rate than developing embryos). Chimeras are also more accurately called split mosaics! Def S tier. I own a split mosaic, who is the best axolotl ever. Lavenders! Also known as axanthics! Axanthics lack yellow pigmentation, hence the purplish/ lavender color.

Before I started watching your channel a while back, I thought the leucistic axos were the "wild type" because those were the ones most commonly drawn, so I thought axos came from deep caves where there's no light, like some kind of little alien cave creatures. (I say this with love, especially because I live in a state where they're illegal.)

Dr. Shrunk was my first exposure ever to axolotls, I had no idea what the heck he was and my friend who introduced me to the game didn’t know either so she looked it up and I then found out about axolotls and fell in love. He’s been around a whole DECADE before Minecraft axolotls! As cursed as his design is, I do really like him since he’s the OG fictional axolotl. And his jokes are pretty funny! I totally get why he’s in D tier though. I agree that there should be more axolotl characters. I absolutely love the frog villagers, and if frog villagers exist then why not axolotl ones? Hopefully some that look much cuter than Dr. Shrunk.

I think my favorites are the Mosaic, Copper, Wildtype, and Sunburst. I love the GFP color, but I think it works better as a lot of very small fish, or a butterfly. :)

Some of my opinions on the axolotls: i absolutely love the mosaic axolotl, a bit terrified of the morphed one, i also really like the albino and i agree with u that the rfp one looks like it has ammonia, maybe part 3 with frogs or birds?

If you found a true lavender that would be quite spectacular. You know your stuff! I’m glad channels like this exist. Actually in Minecraft the brown axolotl that is present is the wild type variant and not a melanoid axolotl. There is a mod that has a melanoid (Well jet black) axolotl along with a lighter brown axolotl, likely just a lighter version of the wild type

My favorite axolotl color is definitely the goldeny/copper mosaic one. When i found out about axolotls in like 2019 I looked at every color i could find and that ones the coolest to me. Also I'll definitely be looking forward to the betta fish one!

There is no wild type Minecraft axolotl, but there is a brown one and they can all be found in the wild I believe except the blue one. Idk why they added a blue one though.

I have a wild type gfp just his eyes glow and then i have a gfp i got from a breeder in my area they were actually born like that apparently their ancestors from the labs were injected and it passed down to their babies so the ancestory line will now glow without being injected from what i have heard i live my babies so much tho ❤

I am the worlds biggest mlp fan with over a thousand ponies in my collection, and I even have my own KZfaq channel now called Pastel ponies.
