The Z Automotive OEM Locker Sensor Bypass Harness will allow the lockers on your Jeep Wrangler JL Rubicon or Gladiator JT Rubicon to continue to operate with a bad position sensor that has failed. Bypassing the problematic sensor, the Z-Locker-OEM harness provides the proper feedback to the Jeep’s computers to keep the system operational without any errors or warnings. This is awesome! I have had the entire rear axle replaced twice on my 2018 Rubicon for this exact issue. The dealership keeps acting like it is just me and they have never heard of this issue before so it is nice to hear that I am not crazy.

Great video! VERY clear explanation! I have one of these in my glove box for just such an occasion as a locker position sensor failure. I hope I never have to use it.

Mine failed at 3 months on a new '21 JLUR. Entire rear assembly was replaced under warranty after a 2-month wait, but this would have been nice to have for sure.

I just replaced a couple axle under warranty for a bad sensor. The connector was full of gear oil shorting out the signal.

Something like this would be very useful. Currently hard wired the lockers using mopar harness to aux 3 and 4. Would you have to get one for front and another for rear lockers? Also, does everything still work on the dash and offroad pages saying the lockers are engaged or not? Looks like an excellent product! Looking forward to seeing if they work in the real world! Cheers.

Yes, you would need one for the front and a separate one for the rear (if both sensors are bad). Because this is sending the message back to the computer that your lockers are engaged when you push the button on the dash, all the other indicators will still show correctly.

@@Quadratec I bought just one to keep for insurance. I'd think the odds of both failing at the same time would be pretty thin. If one fails and I use my harness, I'll buy another as insurance for the other axle.

we changed front and rear d44 from rubicon with stock axle ratio, for a pair of same rubicon axles but with higher axle ratio, and lockers stopped working, is something related with this position sensor? could fix with Z Automotive OEM Locker Sensor?

Hey Rob my Jeep has all the lights on the lockers, the sway bar, and my 4wd itself shows it needs to be serviced. I already installed a new transfer case control module but still the problem is happening. Is this still the same issue ? Or a different one.

Hi, mine says service 4wd and sway bar disconnect error after a rodent chewed some wires in my Rubicon JLU Which part number or wire do I need to buy and can u please make a video how to do it? Already went to 2 dealership and can not fix it yet charged with almost 1500+.

Does this bypass have a built-in sensor of its own to take the place of the bad sensor when it is plugged in to the system or does it just take the sensor failure communication out of the system so that the computer doesn’t prevent you from using the locker?

My recollection is the actual sensor is still bad, but this intercepts the communication and always returns the 'correct/everything fine' response. So if your locker DOES actually go bad / not actuate you're going to have a real bad day.

Yes, if both sensors go bad, you would need a bypass harness for each one. If only one sensor fails, then you just need one harness for that axle.

I just had my entire rear axle assembly replaced after waiting four months because of this. So stupid that a $20 sensor isn't available. It's an easy replacement if they were available. From what I understand, the sensor hasn't ever been available as a replacement part.

Yes! Though, technically it doesn't fix the problem, but will allow you to use the locker with the faulty sensor.

$179.00 I would love to see what is in there that makes it worth that much. Too many electronics in these newer Jeeps.

Hi Does it connect only to the rear axle of the car? Can it also be connected to the front axle of the car? As far as I know, there are 2 sensors in the car that may not work correctly. One is in the front; the other is in the back. I ran into a problem. From time to time I have an inscription and an error "Check the axle locking system". The error appears on the dashboard and disappears. I cleaned the connectors of these sensors, but the error still appears. I see that this problem can be solved with your device, but I also see that your device is for the rear axle of the car. And what if my problem is in the front sensor on the front axle of the car? Is it possible to buy 2 pieces and connect: one in front, the other in the back? __________________________________________________________________________ I'm sorry if I'm not writing to you correctly. I use a translator. I live in Russia.

Change your whole axle Assembly because the sensor went bad. That's insane.

I just got mine. Plugged it in the rear axle and no change. Still getting the same warning lights…

​@@zautomotive I recently started to get the light Service Axle Locker System light intermittently (2019 JLUR, 30kmi). It now always comes on when I brake lightly or even just let off the accelerator, and then it clears. I bought one sensor bypass harness (I would not expect that front and rear sensors have just failed at the same time). Put it in the rear locker, no change. Pulled the harness and put it in the front locker, no change. Removed the harness, no change. For fun, left a locker sensor disconnected completely, and light stayed on solid. Reconnected the sensor, went back to same intermittent light. Soooo.... electrical connection somewhere? it seems too repeatable to be a connection problem. But I am otherwise at a total loss on this and would love any other suggestions. I have a stealer appt scheduled but I really don't want to start seeing them swap out axles over this... if they even will any more. Thanks...

hi, did you fix the problem now? same situation, installed in the rear and still have the alarm in dash and ringing every 30 seconds.

So your local Jeep dealer can't get sensors to fix this issue but Z Automotive can mass-produce a module that overrides said sensor and thinks buyers will pay $179 to install this until a fix is found? Was this really invented just for the niche group of owners who have a failed sensor and are awaiting a replacement or is there a 'real' use case not being mentioned in the video for liability reasons? If you did have an actual failure with your locker, wouldn't you ultimately want to know that? I love my JL Tazer Mini and all the cool customizations it can do, but this seems like a candidate for strangest Jeep product of the year.

I have had this happen twice to me. The 1st time my Jeep sat at the dealership for 3 months while they waited for a new axle assembly. It would have been nice to have this as an option to keep me back on the road while waiting for the dealership to get the parts for the repair. Or, if it happens on the trail, have it in the glovebox so that the locker can still be used to finish the trail. I agree that the $179 seems steep but I would have gladly paid that vs being without my Jeep for months.

Yes, this was made for owners that have had their locker sensor(s) fail and cannot, or choose not, to get the repair done by the dealer. An actual locker failure (not just a bad sensor) really boils down to a broken locker that will not engage or will not disengage, which you should be able to identify from the seat of your pants.

wow what conspiracy junk on newer cars. Broken for dealer gain or no purpose at all. Jeeps 82ish yrs old yet only new junk has problem.
