A short guidance of installation, cutting and finishing solid laminate worktops. Zenith worktops are good, durable and relatively easy to install. As with any other worktop, best results are achieved by using professional tools and sharp blades, ensuring good workmanship standards.
I have to thank my friend Jeff for filming me in this video

Hi, Sinisa, Just an update , i did my kitchen myself and got great results, your video really helped. I used the freud saw blade you reccomended with a simple macallister circular saw from b&q - i took it easy and it all turned out great. The company i bought the worktops from sent an extra worktop instead of an upstand ,so i used my off cuts to manufacture a splashback over the sink , base cupoard ends and skirting and a 4" strip on top of a dividing wall betwen kitchen and dining area- looks great- and still seems to be plenty of life in the blade - your advice about just going easy and using that particular blade blade was spot on and a great help to me , Thanks again for a great video.

Thanks for asking It is very thin solid laminate worktop by Zenith (about 12mm thin), standard worktop undermounting jointing clamps can't be used I've used applied epoxy two part adhesive that I cleaned with acetone while fresh. I didn't use clamps because it would involve using hot glue gun on surface and obviously additional cleaning, so I opted for clamping/wedging against surrounding walls I hope it helps All the best

Farnaz Reza ,thank you for your comment, I stuck them with a few runs of clear silicone on top of the unit. I suppose an L-bracket could be stuck on to the underside by epoxy adhesive. I wouldn't recommend drilling into the worktop since is only 12mm thick. Cheers

Does this stuff chip when cutting it like standard laminated worktops, does it matter how the blade is cutting up or down?

It doesn't chip easily, but it's very dense and you have to cut it slowly. I've done cuts with face up and it is fine

We have just had zenith worktops fitted , we have two butt joints both aren’t flush fitting so I am going to ask for these to be re done.is it possible to separate the joints? And restick , also what sort of profile do you use on the edges as ours hasn’t been finished very well any painful to rest arms on
@mrfxr1695
@mrfxr1695 3 жыл бұрын
I never had to separate them. I know that epoxy takes time to fully set, it may be possible to break the joint clean if it's fitted very recently (up to day) Regards to the edges, I used sandpaper just to take sharpness off All the best Sinisa

I've fitted about 5-6 kitchens with Zenith over the last year. They seem to be gaining more attraction. They certainly go through cutters fast, and the second fit I did, the designers failed to realise a hob over a built in oven is different because you lose that precious 40mm depth of regular worktops. I have yet to fit Zenith in a kitchen that may have a wall intrusion into the worktop, and a sink run (cut out) that demands the worktop joints need to run a certain way. Because of the nature of a biscuit joint, you have almost zero leeway. Even if there are upstands that might give you a little, I can't think of a way to do it without another join. Have you come across this issue?
@mrfxr1695
@mrfxr1695 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes for sure it is very tuff material. I overcome hob problem by fitting square profile cornice on top of the carcasses flush with the doors. You can join these worktops at any angle. I would cut one side at desired line than offer it on top of the order length and scribe over. Then you can trim it by router to the scribe. By the way, thanks for your comment and all the best
