Cutting the Tswin causes excruciating pain, Tsu'tey got his cut off in a deleted scene, it was too gruesome to put in the final cut because that's a fate worse than death, it doesn't just cut off their connection to Eywa, it cuts off their connection to everything, they'd be in too much pain to move, much less do anything else, unless the RDA experimented on them heavily and basically turned them into living zombies, the game is pg-13, they would need an M rating to do something like that

In the game, about 65 hours in, I got an interesting piece of lore which the films and the game did not explore up until that point. I was just running around under the giant stone arches and one of the Na'vi NPCs said something along the lines of "What a beautiful day, I will write a poem about it later" As far as I can tell, this is the only indication so far the Na'vi have a written language

"Our capital" was mentioned a few times by the Aranahe during the main story when they should of referred to it as Hometree.

Okay so this is something that bothers me about the Other Avatar and it's the fact that despite how the Navi are supposed to be one with their ecosystems they don't share phylogeny with the rest of Pandora's animals. An example: every land dwelling vertebrate animal on Earth is called a tetrapod and has bilateral symmetry with two eyes, two nostrils, two ear, a mouth, and four limbs. Even tetrapods that have lost limbs due to evolutionary pressures such as snakes and whales still have vestigial elements in their bodies that hint at this shared ancestry. Humans have all of these and thus our connection to the rest of the animal kingdom is demonstrated in our basic physiology. On Pandora all of the vertebrate animals, the tetrapod equivalents, have six limbs, four eyes, two antennae, and breath out of ventricles in the sides of their bodies. All of the animals were designed by Wayne Barlowe who has a background in speculative biology with his Darwin-4 alien designs. All animals, except the Navi who feel like they were designed by committee in order to be as sympathetic as possible to a human audience. Along with a standard humanoid tetrapod design they have big innocent eyes. The irony of the Navi is that their design betrays their narrative function, they are not connected to the planet, they don't share phylogeny with the rest of Pandora's ecosystems because that would make them too alien and thus harder to sympathize with from the human audience perspective in a story where humans are the antagonists. Humans bad, aliens good, but the aliens can't be too alien or else how can humans relate to them? As a result the only animals the Navi share phylogeny with are the evil alien humans who are their sworn enemies. In a smarter story there might be a twist or message here but Avatar isn't that clever.

The stupid thing is the Avatar game I really want isn't really about avatars (and DEFINETLY ISNT ABOUT PLAYING A NAVI) at all. The game I really want is about the early human expeditions. Travelling around. Studying the flora and fauna. Flying the cool helicopters. Piloting AMP suits to clear vegetation and site research bases. Helping linguists and anthropologists travel to meet the Naavii and make contact. Bring in some of the weird stuff like the pandora worshiping genocide cult made up of RDA staff (the one that is sabotaging efforts to terraform earth back to liveable conditions, the ones that blow up the project Jake Sully was guarding resulting in his paralysis) and all that stuff from the supplemental material.
@Zenny-YouTube
@Zenny-YouTube 6 ай бұрын
With the way the world of Pandora is set up its hard to write a game where destroying vegetation and clearing land as the rda. Believe me I want that game too! The 2009 avatar game let's you pick the side of the humans and it was super fun being the villians! But with the way the lore of Pandora works doing any of that instantly makes you a villian. That being said an early settler human that is able to fight the rda WITH RDA gear would be so cool right! Having the choice of piloting and avatar OR an AMP suit. Ripping mechs apart with those giant guns. I want that game too man... sadly with the way the franchise is written I don't think it's ever gonna happen

I could see something like the traversal mechanics from death stranding working REALLY well for this idea, it would make the exploration more involved. Have your characters gear and weight matter, make camping a thing that matters, include survival mechanics to lend a slight sense of urgency and tension, where you lose max stamina if you don't eat or drink and sleep or over exert yourself. Make the mission structure a series of excursions each lasting a week, including the occasional Navi skirmish. Add squad mechanics after the initial solo exploration, let us give them orders like in ready or not, with decent ai. Build your forces over time, send new squads out on missions while you explore and slowly make footholds for more bases and find unobtainium. This is the type of shit well never see. And even if we did, it would never be made right. This is the world we live in.

Here's a crazy idea concerning the idea of RDA severing the connection of Eywa of creatures: What if the player character was a working example of what it does to a Na'vi? I imagine this would require a lot of story tweaking and a lot of tweaking of the player character's characterization, but it could be something cool to experiment with. Have the PC perhaps be mindless and thoughtless. Let the early game hunting and gathering be influenced by this. You get standard quality stuff from what you gather hastily and sloppily as you just don't care how you gather things or how it hurts Eywa. As you connect with the clans, learn of your clan's past and ways of acting, and actually get to be a regular Na'vi, you slowly regain this connection. Introduce merciless and clean kills as a way not only show character growth, but also to reward players who take more time to do their hunting. Still let them have their painful, sloppy kills or hasty gathering for standard ingredients but reward players with higher quality ingredients for understanding, respecting, and connecting with Ewya. Plus, this could be a way to speed up gathering and hunting without totally showing aside the lore of a Living Proven God. Introduce this later when the player has more powerful weapons to make this easy, worth their time, and fun, instead of early game when they can't do the damage necessary to do what's asked of them. Plus, I think this would cool from a story standpoint as regaining this connection and truly understanding Ewya could be seen as truly 100% defying the RDA. They wanted you to be a ruthless killing machine with no god to answer or connect to and you refuse to be that on every level despite of everything they've done to you. Now, I write this and I will say I don't think the connection being severed is needed for something similar like this to work. You could just say due to being raised by humans 99% of your life, you don't get Na'vi ways or get the weight of who Eywa is, so you don't care about how you kill or gather. Have the PC learn similarly to how Jake did in the first film and have them realize overtime they've been going about things all wrong. I dunno, I'm just spitballing based on points you raised in your video. I don't know Avatar lore that well. I think the concept of something being severed from Eywa to be incredibly interesting and it's a shame they didn't run with it. I was very curious about this game and I appreciate the in-depth review of everything and how honest you seem to be with the high and low points of the game. Also I find your animations between segments pretty cool. They were well-spaced out and surprisingly engaging. I was worried they were going to take away from the review, but they absolutely did not. Yeah, I called Aha'ri getting shot the moment the teacher told her to stop singing in front of the comically evil capitalist old white man. I started skipping cutscenes after I was proven correct. I also called Hat Boy's betrayal the moment I saw him still in TAPS gear after being freed; good to know the game's writing is about as predictable as I expected. The part that made me outright put the game down was going from zero combat experience to soloing large Walkers with a bow and makeshift arrows you'd have zero ability to adequately craft in-lore (not even a Na'vi survival training montage like Jake got; we just intrinsically know how to do all things Na'vi with perfect execution apparently,) and then literally the first Far Cry 3 Pirate Outpost I took out, the game glitched and I couldn't hack the coolant computer, functionally locking me out of the rest of the game.

I know that what i want is wishful thinking, but i really want to see in some form a interaction between the Avatar world and the Technology of AI, not the irl part, the sentient one. Like, imagine what the Na'Vi would think when encountering the literal counterpart of their ideology, were the power of technology was able to create a life in a way without any interaction with nature. And in the other side of the spectrum, what would the sentient AI think of the Na'vi when their ideology itself is centered around something that the AI think is useless or at least not as important to them. Trow a bit of emotions on the AI and you can probably get a great way to look at nature in the eyes of the beings that don't really need then for survival and what humanity would do to said nature if they finally find a way to completely server the dependency we have with nature.

So while this wasn't the only reason why we stuck with imperial, you guys definitely helped lol.

15:50 Um... As someone who genuinely does not like these movies for well complicated reasons. I have to ask... Wasn't all that obvious? I mean the movie practically spells it out to you that Awa is their... I wouldn't say god as much as master. You could liken it to a world spirit. All of that was pretty implicit to the story. I personally feel the reason people don't talk about it is because well... It feels like a parallel story. Or setting lore. Its neat for sure, but given that its never actually addressed how the Navi God Awa can interact or meaningfully engage with the human miners on pandora. Honestly that is the biggest thing that pisses me off about Avatar is that their is so much wasted potential, and the movie overall comes off as a 'technology bad' 'nature people good' film. When it could have been so much more.... IF PEOPLE WOULD PUT MORE THEN TWO MINIUTES OF THOUGHT INTO THESE CONCEPTS!!!
@nils254

Just found you man, and honestly? I love the way you do things! I'm a big time Avatar fan, so I was admittedly a little hesitant to see what you'd have to say, considering majority of people's opinions are "lmao Avatar bad" - so you actually being familiar with, as well as being a fan yourself was such a breath of fresh air. Your criticisms felt more than fair, as well. I adore this game and the Avatar series as a whole, but my thoughts more or less aligned with a lot of your own, which was surprisingly great. I agree heavily, that the the Severed concept was sooo damn cool, and I also wish they actually *did* attempt to involve some poor Na'vi, as messed up as it would be, lmao. Show us more RDA horrors beyond corporate greed and deforestation (which are absolutely egregious on its own ofc, but yk what i mean) Overall an awesome video in my eyes :] And to speak of Alma and her plot hole.... she never actually intended to go and save the Sarentu kids. She was a *coward* who didn't want to face the atrocities she had a hand in, even if yea technically, she hadn't meant for the Sarentu clan's massacre. She only saved us because Priya, that geeky pink haired chick, found life signs in the facility and wanted to check it out. Its revealed through those collectable datapad notes, which felt cheap ngl. But hey, it's Ubisoft man. 🤷‍♂️ ...I never once trusted Alma, honestly, and I wasn't all that surprised when the game made that big reveal. It was good, don't get me wrong, but it was also predictable ngl. She was a cold and clinical parallel to Grace Augustine, and she just gave me hella bad vibes. And again, dont get me wrong, she's a fantastic character- but she was just super sus and her motherly gestures and soft tone always had me either cringing or rolling my eyes. Teylan was absolutely wonderful- and the oh so obvious manipulation from Mercer and his fervent love of the RDA was painful / uncomfortable to watch, which was obv the point since you're meant to "reclaim / find your way" as a Sarentu and ditch the RDA's influence.... but still, damn. He IS also the youngest by the way, around 17-19, while the player is like... 21-22? I think, I'm not sure. But Teylan is for sure the youngest, so it makes sense *why* Mercer chose him to be his puppet. He was stupid, yes, but it absolutely made sense considering everything. I wish they did more with Ri'nela and Nor, but perhaps we'll see it (alongside more of Teylan) in the two planned DLCs?? Also gimme the other two kids from the prologue lmao- where tf did they go. Are they dead? What happened to them? I need answers Ubisoft! Sorry for the huge ramble- I have many thoughts about this game, clearly haha. But cheers! Eagerly awaiting your next vid :]

First videos of yours i watched, first of how are you still below 10 k, the critique is good and i appreciate the proper look at this game that was kind of unceremoniously thrown on the market to kind of die. Very dissapointed to hear the story elements arent that great but im also kind of happy to hear that the worldbuilding is actually pretty substantial. The hunting and fruit collecting for some reason feel very....90s french game design where the games were interesting but had a lot of very obnoxious gameplay mechanics that were almost nonsensical. As a animator i always appreciate the extra level someone goes to add animations to their reviews, be it for skits or otherwise. This is a great critique of the game, I'm so glad to see someone talk about the story elements in so much depth. Most reviews covered the repetitive gameplay, but this allowed me to see how the plot actually played out, which is what I was most interested in. It's a shame it never gets fully realized because it does seem promising, but that along with the gameplay loop doesn't seem like enough to make the fun of exploring the world of pandora worth the purchase.

I have complaints with this game, but by far, the thing I dislike the most is that hunting on ikran is impossible, when hunting on ikran was the coolest thing in the movie, why would you make the animals run in a way that makes it impossible? Also, when you hunt too much young animals, you get the disharmony debuff, but since most animals you come across are young, you’ll always get the disharmony debuff, which stops you from calling your Ikran, and makes it harder to do everything.

However, that’s where the story in this game lacks. The story is great,if you were a kid… As an adult gamer I now look for storybeats that will hook me in. Make me empathise with a character and as you said “show me don’t tell me” what is going on. I can only hope that Ubisoft pays attention to the criticisms of its player base so that the next release could be so much better

Hm, after watching the game and gameplayvideos of A:FoP I think there is something like a clear message the Devs haven't made clear enough. Na'vi are more or less kind of stealthy, blending in with the nature of Pandora and so on. My best guess is, that the Devs wanted to convey this concept in the game, overdoing it. If you're a stealthgame player like me, you'll love this game. Sneaking around, avoiding combat where possible, ending it if it happens as fast as possible, is really good. It was never meant to be a shooter or "Action" game in that kind of shooty sense. At least, that's how it feels to me.

I play 100% stealth unless the game forces me to engage head on, which is rare, and ive had nothing but fun. It actually does a really good job of making the stealth combat feel like the movies action, especially in the second movie. Sneaking around, ducking behind things and getting off cheeky weakpoint shots. Hacking AMPs and tearing the tiny human out of the suit when theyre isolated. I basically only use the heavy bow and the SID unless i get spotted, then try and take out everyone alerted as fast as possible to maintain the stealth bonus for outposts, so i rarely need to grind any resources. I just pick stuff up as i go and always have enough. This is definitely meant to be a stealth game more than a run and gun game, and i think its executed very well.

Why did they not just clone Navi if they wanted diplomats with no connection to Navi culture? I get that the avatar are expensive because they need to be tailor made so that a human can link up with them, but we can clone things now, surely in the future that technology would be even more advanced.

Okay so this is cool! Navi clones aren't really possible as navis souls are derived from ewya. You could clone a navi, but thier mine would just be dormant and dead. They would never weak up With ewya having a legit after life you can not duplicate one's soul. Which is why the human hybrids work! Because it's you projecting your mind into the body, and you can't have a navi clone that a human projects into Because humans NEED to have thier DNA shared with the body they are projecting into The more you know

@@Zenny-KZfaq ah okay so there is an explanation. I am curious if they couldn't have explored trying to implant a soul/personality. Maybe that's something that could have been in that facility. You get this really weird Navi who sorta acts like a normal Navi but there's an uncanny valley in their behavior. Or they're just really murderous if they wanted to go basic.

It would have been a good twist to have the option to join the RDA.
