@@ZFvisa Hello Mandy, good day. I'm preparing for my US Visa interview for my masters program in the US. My i20 shows a duration of three years whereas we mostly know that masters program is for two years. I indicated in my ds160 form that it's three years and I've already submitted. Please do you recommend that I resolve it to two years or leave it as three years as indicated in my application form. Also, could this be a basis to be denied?

I sent my mom a graduation invitation when I got my master's degree in 2018. The visa officer already knew that my mom was as widow and that my dad was a professor of university, and denied her a tourist visa with no reason explaining the denial. I ended up walking up the stage alone with no real family members to cheer at me. She got denied a few years ago a visa for a conference in the US when my dad was still alive and was asked questions if she ever went overseas which she did, she spent almost 10 years in Belgium when my dad was doing his PhD and for some undisclosed reasons, she got denied visa with no reason again which is extremely disrespectful and demeaning. As in every interview, there is always that subjective factor that comes into play. Also, there is to a significant extent, a lot of evil going on with some of those officers.
@brandenburg2388
@brandenburg2388 Жыл бұрын
From my observations, these officers have been instructed by their higher-ups to assume that every visa applicant has a hidden ulterior motive to do any of the following once they successfully entered the US: (1) stay and work illegally in the US, (2) marry a US citizen under a sham marriage and then elope and (3) commit terrorist activities on US soil. Thus, the burden of guilt is already placed on the applicant and he or she must prove beyond reasonable doubt their innocence.
@BT-zw2ix
@BT-zw2ix Жыл бұрын
@@brandenburg2388 Of course, that's how they work they assume that visa applicants are out there to scam the system and what they gotta do is to challenge them until they prove and convince them that its not the case.

@@BT-zw2ix hi. Your mom may not have met the requirements for own financial capacity. Even if you say you'll sponsor her, she must prove that she has the means to pay for the trip on her own. Plus she must have strong ties to her country (good job/ business, ownership of real property or vehicle, etc). For travel history, they usuallly consider travel as a tourist (shows financial capacity). Her time abroad when your dad was studying for his degree doesn't really count as "plus points".
@BT-zw2ix
@BT-zw2ix Жыл бұрын
@@kitty_s23456 She met all those requirements, in Africa being a professor of university is an upper middle class title. My dad left her real estates (& cars). She works for the government in the ministry of education because she is an assistant professor at the university of Kinshasa, she had a well fournished bank account. She's traveled extensively in Africa as well. And she had no business overstaying her visa, staying in the US with the Massachusetts very cold and harsh weather just staying home, or trying to get some bullshit under the table job wiping old asses in nursing homes. It was in the Trump era, right-wing leaning immigration officers domestically & overseas were all embolded by Trumps racist and xenophobic rhetoric. I've seen people without fullfilling all the requirements you mentioned being issued visas and overstaying their visa and now mocking immigration officers in Kinshasa's US embassy on how dumb they were to give them tourist bisas to attend fake weddings in the US. My mom only wanted to attend my graduation and go back. You can't assume that everybody from developping countries is out there trying to scam the system, it's just not right.

Hi Mandy, all your videos are very helpful. Thank you so much for that. I have a unique scenario which I guess very few people face during their immigration journey. I have a concurrently filed GC petition (I-140 premium, I-765, I-131, I-485) by a company for future employment which was filed in 2021 and has been pending for more than 2years now. In-between my application was transferred to Field Office where I attended an Interview and got a RFE which was responded on Jan 2023. Recently I was informed by the company that there is a "Intent to Revoke Notice" on the I-140. The company has responded to the NOIR and USCIS received the documents few days back. I came to U.S in 2016 and graduated in 2018. I started working with my currently Employer with OPT EAD since 2019 and got my H1B in 2022. I am still with my employer and planning to go for H1B Stamping. I am aware that H1B is a dual intent visa and my pending petition is for future employment from different company. Will the pending petition and the status of "Intent to Revoke" on I-140 create any issue for my H1B interview? Should I wait for the decision on the pending petition or it's ok to go for H1B stamping? How long do you think will take for USCIS to make a decision on my pending petition? Your insight will be very helpful 🙂 Thank you again for your dedication. 🙂

the fact that it’s good to prepare for a visa interview or even hire an external firm, means the officers are probably rejecting too many false positives. very sad. “visa officers are good at scanning information quickly” reads to me as they are good at becoming heartless powertrippers who just want to reject people who are trying to visit their family, eg but as messed up as the process is, it’s good to have videos like this to understand it. i hope one day it will become much easier for people to visit the US

I’ve been refused of the B1/B2 Visa 2001, was single, no travel history, employed as an instructor in a private college, no pending petition. In 2014 , I reapplied and was granted the Visa, after 13 years so many things have happened in my status. And during this time I have already a pending petition from my sibling. Despite having a pending petition from my sister, my extensive travel history to countries such as South Korea, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei, for career training and leisure purposes, demonstrates my commitment to abide by visa regulations and return to my home country. As a teacher and department chairman at the Department of Education, my ties to my profession further strengthen my intention to return after my brief 2-week visit to my sister in Richmond, California. Therefore, my application for a US B1/B2 visa has been approved. This year my visa will expire on October, I decided to renew via the interview waiver program, my petition is still active, got to travel to the US Five times since was granted the visa last 2014. I was again granted another 10 years B1/B2 visa last February 2024. It’s all about being honest and just being yourself don’t be pretentious and you’re good to go

I got to know about a dozen visa officers in various US embassy and consulates in a 15 year period. I frequently talked with them regarding temporary visa eligibility. The chief question that came up over and over was this: What are your ties to your home country--family, job, non-transferable assets? The officer is looking to defeat the premise that the applicant will overstay a temporary visa, perhaps permanently.

I had an I-140 petition (employment based green card) pending and had no problem to extend my L-1 non immigrant visa in a US consulate. But I think this is because L-1 is a "dual intent" visa? The Consular officer saw the pending I-140 and asked me whether I would still return to Europe in case that would be denied (or the subsequent I-485). I answered of course and I got my new L-1.

Hi Mandy thank you for your video. A friend was once rejected for a B-1 Visa twice in 2013 for a volunteer retreat twice with a scientific society. However 10 years later their situation has changed, they are married civily, are working and their wife is working a stable job. They also now have two Masters one in Business and another in Science. This friend has been accepted for a Masters but with an option to do a PhD in that school after a year and got their I-20 form and is about to do an F-1 Student Visa application. They have applied for a loan also from a reputable international financier with a 10 year payment period. The loan they got is enough for a year (2 semesters) being above $40000US. The friend is scared of the previous rejection and would like to be better prepared? Also wanted to know If they can apply for F-2 Visas despite not being able to travel with their family to the US? This friend also owns a property (piece of land) that they bought for >9000$? Does this prove ties to their country in addition to 3 kids who are in high school and elementary school as well?

Now I'm visiting the embassy tomorrow again for a F1 visa interview. What bothers me now is that I graduated studying electrical engineering as an undergraduate but I'm going to study Human Relations in Murray state university now. I don't know how to link the question if asked why did I change my major from electrical to human relations. However ive worked as a customer care before and as a human resources officer before. Can you pls give me a head's up on how to answer the questions

Hello Mandy, this is the first time I am seeing your video and I am so full of questions...but lemme just narrate my experience..I am Nigerian and I and my wife were denied USA tourist visa back in 2011. The reasons given by the interview officer was that No 1: we are newly married and have no travel experience and that we should acquire that first, No 2: inadequate proof of financial capability, No 3: to cap it all, my wife was about 8 months plus heavy with our first child😁.. our situation has changed tremendously since then ( although we weren't doing badly back then) financially we are far better now and our 2 boys are 11 and 8 years old respectively. we have also traveled as a family to just two countries for holiday( UAE and South Africa). now we want to add UK to the list.. I was now wondering about our chances if we decide to try going to the USA again after our UK trip...what do you think lady?

@Mandy Feuerbacher I was denied Visa renewal in 2018 after visiting the United States more than 15 times since 2002. I have been to the UK more than 20 times and to the Schengen countries more than 20 times as a businessman.I was surprised that my visa was denied because the Visa Officer thinks I dont have strong ties to my country. Probably because my kids who now resides in the US(Both of them are US Citizens) are undergraduates in the University don't live with us in Nigeria. But since then I have travelled out of Nigeria more than 10 times to Britain,Netherlands,France and UAE. I have another visa appointment in January 2024 and I hope they approve my Visa because it's my son's graduation! My question is if I am not comfortable in my country would I have this extensive Travel history? And I have never exceeded my Visa anywhere in the world!

In 2013, my B-1 visa application was denied, followed by a denial of my F1 visa application in 2022. I had applied for the F1 visa from the country where I completed my undergraduate degree and was employed at the time. Additionally, my mother currently resides in the US under the "withholding of removal" status, and my brother has faced five rejections for a B-1 visa. Now, I have received admission to one of the top universities in the USA and I am considering reapplying for an F1 visa from my home country. Both of my rejections was under 214(b). Given these circumstances, what are the chances of my visa being approved this time?

They are travelling to the UK on a tourist visa (they have already done so 10-12 times in the last 10-12 years). As the appointment dates in India are not available for more than a year down the line for a B2 visa, they have applied for a B2 at the London Consulate. The DS 160 states their daughter-in-law (my wife) is sponsoring them and they are visiting the USA to see their grandson who lives in the US on a F1 Visa (OPT) working for Amazon Inc USA as a Software Development Engineer. This is their first application for any kind of a US visa. What kind of questions can they expect?

Hi. You were most likely denied due to lack of financial capacity or strong ties. If you'll reapply, it's best to reapply only if your circumstances have improved (bettet job/ income, travel history, more savings, ownership of rreal property, etc). You must prove that you can finance yourself without the need for a sponsor. If your situation is the same, you might get denied again (this is for tourist visa).

As a citizen, I don't really have a dog in this particular fight, but I am fed up from dealing with underfunded government agencies that pretend to make a virtue out of hasty, sloppy and thoughtless performance of their duties. The IRS is another good example. In the end, the decisions generated will be more arbitrary and random than would be the case if they were allowed to actually consider all the information that people are required to furnish.

I have no more immigrant petition both F2B or any category under family petition at the time I applied for a tourist visa. For those who have no idea what an F2B is. It's an immigrant petition for unmarried adult children (over 21 years old) of green card holders. I renounced my petition by informing the NVC thru sending them a letter about the changes in my status. I was then advised to continue by another category from single to family petition but again, I did not go on with the petition. The US Embassy has the records of all of it and it is also indicated on the application forms when I applied for a tourist visa.....The consul who interviewed me gave emphasis on my petition and asked me the same question for three times and why I did not continue with the petition......apologies, I won't disclose my answer ...... yes! I was given multiple entries and it expired during the pandemic and I was granted again another multiple entries thru drop box meaning non-appearance interview last year.
