Such a brilliant video. The rationale for UNESCO World Heritage status at Matobo Hills is because spiritual practice here has gone on for millennia to present day and this interaction between the religion, the people and the landscape has manifested in the rock art everywhere. Present day local Kalanga people believe that spirits reside in caves, hills and many secluded environments. Cecil Rhodes is buried on the summit of Malindidzimu which translates to "hill of the spirits." My family's homestead is in the shadow of Njelele Shrine just outside the national park, where pilgrims still visit every year for rain making ceremonies and there's plenty of traditional beer to go around. It truly is a very special place. Thank you for showcasing this area.

Hi Ryan, I’m in zimbabwe at present. I class zimbabwe as my second home. I’ve been visiting Zimbabwe for 40 years. I still get fed up with immigration and customs. It’s irritating and in my view unnecessary. Zim needs tourists but immigration and customs don’t seem to realise this. On a trip from Nyanga back to Harare a few days ago I was stopped 3 times in 30 kms by a police road blocks to check my temporary import permit for my car . SA registered car by the way. It’s all very irritating and in my view unnecessary. I still love Zimbabwe, fantastic people ,beautiful country spoiled by bureaucrats ,civil servants

I would just like to place it on record how grateful I am that you, and your fellow travelers and adventurers, invite us to share in your experiences! And this despite the fact I have actually visited many of the places that you frequent... Nonetheless, you seem to to do a lot of research on the places that you visit and the shared knowledge really is fantastic! The mix of your story as you travel and the the story's of the places you go to makes for a heady and intoxicating mix! I long to return to reacquaint myself with the wild areas of Southern Africa, however, I am a continent away from Africa currently... Your offerings, among others, go a long way to reminding me of what I am missing! So, in those times of reflection when you are bit tired and foot-sore from your travels know that there are many grateful and appreciative people out there who cannot wait for the next episode of your wanderings! I look forward to seeing you on the tracks!

great video with good info ! i am dosappointed at the status of the campsite inside the matopo NP ; disfunctional and run down ! but the government knows that turists come to visit this great site like i want to do and plan to do in the near future ; yet the government agency in charge does not look after the ablutions , electricity pulg points ; running water ; waht aa attitude and poor management for such a great place for the people irrespective wheteher one talks about the local ndebele people and kings or cecil rhodes or the bush and hills with rocks !; it is the whole set up that one looks for and appreciates but the camp does not have a toilette that the ladies can use ???
