To clarify for everyone that has commented, there were no peanuts, and nobody threw anything to feed the elephant. It was a seed pod that fell from the tree and that is what the elephant had already been eating. Secondly, you are not supposed to run from wild elephants, you are told by the guides to sit as still as possible. The same thing happened minutes before and the elephant walked on with no issues. This was a young bull and they can be unpredictable. We were on a photographic safari thats SUPPORTS wild animals and African tourism and conservation. Thank you all for viewing.

IMO, that elephant brushed them out of the way quite gingerly if you note the speed. He could have gone faster and really hurt them.

Tge guy on the left looked the elephant in the eyes and as soon as he did, he challenged the animal cause at that moment the elephant got mad.

don't stare at the Elephant. that's when he started to charge when that guy was looking at the elephant. animals see it as a threat when you look at them. when you stare at them they see it as provoking.

Anyone with eyesight who's paying attention can clearly see that it was not a trunk slap, and he didn't use his trunk at all. As a bull elephant in his prime, given his tusk length, probably around thirty years old (not a teenager), he was eyeing them in the approach, and flared his ears out at the last moment, before communicating that he is powerful and strong. That was his message. It was not an attack, it was forceful communication to Men, and Men have been the elephants top predator. So in his view, Men present a serious threat. He tucked his trunk back under his chin, and used his tusks to knock them over. He didn't want to do more than that, or he would have. He was sending a message, and it came across clearly. Why the guys were sitting with their backs to the view, makes no sense. You would think they would've sat with their backs to the structure as the videographer did. Not the brightest guys.

Wow. Elephants are known for not going around. They demand their right to pass. He doesn't care that you made camp. He wants to go exactly how he wants to go. We have had to get out of their way many times , and scramble when we missed the signal that we were in one's intended path. I was on a bus where we were admiring a herd crossing the road, only one lingered back and refused to cross in front of us. Instead he held his place next to us. The driver suddenly gunned it further down the road, explaining that when he huffed and made the noises the elephant was making, it was a displaying moment, and the elephant was going to follow through on his point. They are fully capable of flipping a bus. When we got out of the way, he ambled across behind us. I got charged by a solo bull in a jeep once, and it was a terrifying reverse at full speed trying to get clear of his charge/trumpet saying that he goes through, not around. Respect the elephant. They command their place. It's quite majestic, seeing how completely confident they are that they are in charge.
