I THINK I CRACKED THE CODE!! RV has been wanting you since the ICC. RV has been telling that you're making them feel "Crazy" and "Dumb". RV felt like the victim but they've been waiting for you on OOTN. So they wanted to feel like you're the victim in RR. That they are trying to engrave you with their name on it. Trying to win your heart. So they've won your heart in Rookie. But they've telling you not to look into other girls as you took their heart and they took yours. But the ending of Rookie is not what it seems, sort of like they are hiding something. Red Flavor is like you're on a first date with them, but they're drugging you with cocktails (Irene's rap) and that you are truly drugged (Yeri's rap). Peek a Boo explains that they fall in love easily and that they wanted to try something new. So they let you play a game of trust with them, but you escaped (the MV's ending) You are not the only victim. Bad Boy explains that they're actually THAT powerful. It explains the reason why the MV doesn't have a "boy" but they're actually referring to YOU. So they shot you with their LOVE. Power up explains that they're stronger than ever, after they shot you. Cute but its actually darker than you think, they found another victim. RBB explains that they are in love with an another Bad Boy, but this time, the real one. So they also captured him. The rest is history. Zimzalabim is their true plan of why they capture you and the other bois (fans). Zimzalabim is an incantation for Happiness. Verse 1 explains the reason of getting disappointed, that's why they need to see what you really want. Pre-Chorus explains why you don't need to be worried (reason why the beat and the mood suddenly changes) This also explains that "Zimzalabim" is the only incantation that gives you the Happiness. Chorus is basically them chanting the Zimzalabim. So basically, Zimzalabim is like a drug that gets better everytime you chant it. The tune and the beat gets better and sicker, giving you the feeling of you getting better. The "Nanananana" part will remind you of Happiness "Lalalalala", but are they really following the values of Happiness? (read the lyrics of Happiness) Sorry for the long post! But I think Red Velvet has one the greatest storytelling of all MVs out there. Hooray for the 5 years!

Just a theory, but I feel like Zimzalabim really hit me personally so here’s my take on it. Junkee already hit a lot of insightful points so think of this as me adding to that a little bit. I felt like RV were touching on the wonders but also dangers of finding happiness through daydreaming. Like their other messages about shifting perspectives and using your imagination to find happiness this one kind of twists that idea into something darker. They get taken (or hypnotized) into a place of wonder and fun while talking about the high you get while finding your purpose, chasing your dreams, finding who you are. Like a magic trick (the phrase zimzalabim was popularized within stage magic) its wonderful in the moment but is essentially a trick, an illusion. Something fake to make you happy. “Throwing away your worries over the “flat” earth” (probably implying that they’re not flat earthers after all jk) The lyrics talk about finding happiness but in a way that kind of implies running away from the restrictive world that has you numb to its pain (maybe because you’ve already resigned yourself to the defeat that maybe you can’t chase your dreams after all). Because you find the outside world with less hope, you daydream yourself into one where your dreams all come true to find fake magical happiness. But I think these two ideas of fakeness and happiness come together to create a realistic but fairly positive and uplifting message. The lyrics mention that you find your true self inside this dream, them commenting on how happy you are and how your eyes shine brightly with hope. This is the wonder, the positive aspect of dreaming. As if to look inside yourself to find what gives you happiness and what motivates you to chase this happiness by any means even within yourself. The bridge feels like the turning point of the song where they tell you to keep yourself from wandering off too far with this inward chasing, telling you that “the dream is inside you.” that phrase suddenly means two things at once; that your dream, your happiness will stay inside your mind until you let it out and chase it in the real world, while also meaning that you have this drive, this dream inside you that is wonderful and gives you great potential. And then the song picks up into a happier, louder version of the chorus, and suddenly, like magic, phrase zimzalabim means something else. Something much more wonderful.

To me, since the album is called The ReVe Festival: Day One, Zimzalabim sounds like the introduction to the carnival. That’s why to me it sounds silly and trippy *STAN TALENT PPL*
